STANDARD FEATURES:
ADVANCED SYSTEMS:
SOFTWARE PACKAGE:
STRENGTHS:
  • Excellent stealth suite enables nigh-invisibility to all but the most sophisticated sensors.
  • Advanced shields provide well-rounded protection levels against a variety of threats.
  • The innovative construction materials and methods used in this ship offer high protection against detection as well as EMP/Ion threats and energy weapons.
  • Two-fold power system ensures vital systems such as life support and communications, and secondary systems such as the galley's autochef, can be operated independently of the main reactor.
  • Powerful sensors and communications provide wide-range of situational awareness, encrypted communications, and data transfer capabilities, all protected by a sophisticated software package (see SOFTWARE PACKAGE listed separately).
  • Laminanium and NeuroCoat Everlast allow for increased resiliency to many components, and even to limited degrees the ability to self-repair and self-maintain against minor damage, wear, and tear, thus ensuring better protection against systems damage.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Regular maintenance is required to maintain proper functioning of the energy plasma batteries; failure to do so will result in ship-wide systems failures.
  • Poorly armed, this ship is just not cut out for combat. Its small armament package enables it to yield enough firepower to handle a starfighter or two, but mainly enough to break contact only.
  • If the shields fail, even temporarily, the protective qualities of the hull won't be much defense against heavy fire, projectile weapons, or powerful missiles.
  • The level of automation used throughout the ship means no real sentient crew, leaving few people to respond to a major shipboard emergency. Of course, there were droids, but that doesn't mean much if they're knocked out by some EMP or similar calamity.
  • Huge military-grade capital ships and wealthy, well-defended worlds will almost always have sensors and interdiction capabilities which negate the ship's stealth and hyperdrive advantages.
  • In order to travel stealthily in sublight, sacrifices to speed and maneuverability have to be made to maintain slower cruising speeds which allow the stealth aspect of the ship's propulsion to work; likewise, shields and weapons must be brought offline in order for the hyperdrive stealth capabilities to be effective.
DESCRIPTION:

NEGOTIATION FOR A DREAM (Pt. 1)

The Ne’tra’galaar (“Black Hawk”, in Mando’a) was Visanj’s brainchild. When she first laid eyes on the Sicarius-class Stealth Yacht, its coal-black hull and sleek lines, like some eldritch bird-of-prey borne in a nightmare, she just knew exactly what she wanted. However, the vision in her mind’s eye was of something more than a stock transport. She knew she needed a custom-built, highly modified and personalized craft. A signature, if you will, that would become known across the galaxy and spoken of in whispers and rumors told around huddled tables. This was to be her calling card, an icon of her professional reputation and her personality, the same way that the Millennium Falcon or Slave I had been for Han Solo and Boba Fett, and Visanj was willing to go to great lengths and expense to see this dream made real.

First things first: A custom construction would be required. Contacting the company, Visanj arranged to meet with a design team to discuss the particulars. First, the frame and initial layering of the hull would have to be made using different materials. Stygian-triprismatic polymer based duraplast, reinforced against EMP/Ion threats was going to be needed. This would harden the craft, giving it the strength and solidity she’d need for it to become the platform she wanted it to become. Not much heavier than mere fiberplast, but exponentially more durable and resilient without sacrificing the stealth qualities of the design. The design team agreed, and Visanj agreed as well to the additional costs involved in using such materials. Further, the viewports would use solarium glasteel rather than standard transparisteel. Almost as strong, but blaster resistant and able to enhance the solar collector panels used to further increase power supplies, solarium glasteel was an obvious choice. For the duration of the construction, the use of Saotome Polymer hull layering would do fine, with each layer carefully treated with absobital and PGA coating until the final, which would also receive a reflec-based shadowskin coating. This would only enhance the blackness of the ship, and improve its stealthy behaviors beyond the original specifications.

Next came a discussion of the interior. The original layout called for four distinctive diplomatic-grade suites, each with their own refreshers, seating areas, etc. Visanj had no plans for opening her future home to sleep-over parties and passenger tours, and had no need for this wasted space. Instead, she’d opt for a private ‘apartment’, occupying the full width of the fuselage and extending back 10m, for a total of 150 square meters of luxury living space. A far cry less than used up in the original design. Using a mostly-open floor plan, she specified for a dining space for four, galley/wet bar with high stools for as many arranged along the front bar, a spacious pantry located behind the galley, and all raised up a few steps behind a lounge area. Adjacent to this would be her private bedroom, after which would sit her refresher and wardrobe. The revised design was accepted. This opened up most of the ship’s overall interior for additional systems, a small medical bay, basic guest quarters and refresher, the bridge, and an expanded hangar, able to accommodate docking and general maintenance room for a single personal starfighter, and either a small speeder or cargo as was needed. Realizing that Visanj meant to make this ship more about function than fashion, the design team began to get on board with her vision, offering many helpful suggestions to accomplish these goals. Plastiray, laminanium, and NeuroCoat Everlast would be applied to all internal components, further shielding against various threats and even providing for a small measure of self-repair and maintenance. Vonium-pyronium was used for much of the circuitry, enhancing durability and resilience.

When they finished their negotiations, both parties departed the meeting excited to see this vision manifested and work began on construction within the week.

MAKING IT HAPPEN (Pt. 2)

Upon its completion, some two months later, Visanj took delivery of the ship to a rented private hangar in a small spaceport on the outskirts of known space. From there, she took it back to Dagata, where a team of specially-contracted and very talented techs awaited to begin the after-market modifications at her family’s estate at Jade Pointe in Harastown’s tony Park District.

They had their instructions, and the components were waiting when she, and they, arrived. Work would continue night and day until it was completed. The standard propulsion systems were changed out with LLT-11s, maneuvering thrusters, and a Volant Hypertransit System. If nothing else, this ship would be faster and much more maneuverable than expected. An Invictus Shield Generator was installed, more than capable of keeping her ship and herself safe should Visanj find herself in trouble, and buying all the time needed to jump away to safety. A Clan Heart reactor and Gungan batteries would give her power to spare, well-regulated throughout the ship, and enable many of the systems to be operated independently from the main power system. Most importantly, this meant life support and communications, ensuring that if her engines went offline, she wouldn’t die drifting in space and would still be able to call for help. Most secondary systems were on battery power too, enabling them to be used without drawing off the main power system and leaving plenty of energy to power shields, propulsion, and sensors to peak performance. TibannaX in super-cooled containment was used for the LLT-11s’ chemical thrusters. Easy enough to come by when that’s your homeworld’s biggest export and you are its Baroness.

As for those sensors, Visanj opted to install a Starburst-class sensor array, which both concentrated and downsized a full course of advanced sensors and components into a single array, providing spot-on real-time information to the ship’s massive central computer system. Vi had this expanded too, using a gabonna memory crystal lattice design, giving her a massive computational power and side-by-side database. As her father always said, “Knowledge is enough to even any odds. Even the most outnumbered army can snatch victory if they know where to shoot to kill their enemy first.”

For communications, nothing beat Locke and Key Mechanics’ Freyja system. Solid encryption, good security, and sound long-range capability in a relatively small package. Of course, a suitable software package was added, not only to facilitate her own security, but to allow her to slice like a mad woman past other people’s. A “Buster” device was integrated, ensuring she could transcend limitations others might wish to make.

It was all coming together. For now, the standard armament would have to do. Visanj never really intended for her ship to be a warship anyway, but perhaps down the road some enhancements might be made. Right now, it was all about stealth, speed, agility, and creating the home away from home she’d need to ply her trade.

SANCTUARY IS IMPORTANT (Pt. 3)

For her personal Stateroom Suite, Visanj spared no expense to provide her with not only comfort, but luxury and peace of mind. Laroon wood paneling, stained to a darker reddish-brown hue, matched to the laminated flooring and the ornately-carved bar in the galley, was used. The same was used, only in black, for the four-person table and barstools. Around the table, wingbacked armchairs were placed, upholstered in dark red velour, and a dimmable LED ring-shaped chandelier placed above. Starting about waist-high and stretching up to the ceiling, solarium glasteel tanks, which held a massive terrarium recreating a natural habit and containing feeding systems for twenty-four ysalamiri were found. In those numbers, they’d create a pocket about the entire vessel rendering it incapable of detection through the use of the Force, thereby enhancing the stealth qualities of the ship and also making it impossible for Force-users aboard to play at their magical games. A sound insurance policy in a galaxy seemingly overpopulated by Jedi and Sith and Force knows what else these days.

The lounge area held a chesterfield sofa and matched overstuffed club chairs, upholstered in deep brown-hued Hutt-skin leather. Something of a trophy, and a reminder to visitors that Vi was not one to take being double-crossed lightly. Many had heard the story, and Vi enjoyed the results of those whispers spoken in cantinas and cafes. No one had sought to recreate the mistake again. At either end of the sofa, shared with the sides of the chairs, end tables with lamps featuring stained glass globes were placed, offering soft lighting for intimate discussions and hours of relaxation. Across from this, a large display screen sat on the wall mounted above a fire glass wall brazier fed with Tibanna gas. Wall sconces with soft-glowing lamps illuminated the remainder of the lounge, and throw pillows, a very expensive rug imported from Naboo, and a potted fern from Kashyyyk completed the ‘feel’ of traditional luxury and classical style.

The galley included an Epicurean-9000 autochef system, working with top-end cookware, utensils, and bar equipment. Crystal decanters and cocktail glasses were stocked, as was a set of fine ceramic dishware, silver utensils, and the pantry was furnished with food conservators and racks for stockpiled foodstuffs and other supplies. A smuggling compartment was disguised in the center of the pantry floor. The entire room was fitted with climate-control and locks to maintain the ideal environment for storage and prevent anything from coming up missing. An RFID enabled the Epicurean to access the pantry to organize it or retrieve items for cooking, etc. when called for.

Entering the bedroom through the secured door from the lounge area, Vi went a slightly different route with décor. An Alderaanian Relaxa-bed, piled high with blankets and pillows atop crimson satyn sheets was placed in the corner along the interior bulkhead. Rich tapestries, draperies, and rugs were used to warm this space, making a virtual cave-like enclave there, while a matching crimson lounger and small circular table of light-colored laroon wood was placed opposite. Large cushions for relaxed seating were added too, together with hanging glow-laps in ornate brass lanterns with colored plasti-glass provided the decadently warm and soothingly welcoming lighting here. Shelves were added, containing a variety of items from her personal collection of Rebellion-era artifacts. Vi had been collecting for years, always watching the auction-houses and HoloNet for something to catch her eye. It was by no means comparable to any museum, but she had managed several interesting pieces, including:

  • A capelet once worn by Lando Calrissian, together with one of his personal Sabacc decks.
  • A bracelet, gifted to Padme Amidala by Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars, and later worn by Leia Organa-Solo.
  • A Rebel Flight Helmet, said to have been found on Jakku and once owned by the Jedi Rey.
  • A Clone Trooper Helmet, issued to one of the original members of the famed 501st Legion during the Clone Wars.
  • A piece of wall plating from Lothal, bearing an original piece of graffiti by Sabine Wren, one of the first uses of the Alliance Starbird.
  • Various other treasures, their provenance for the most part definite, filling up the space. The entire collection a reminder to Visanj of the passionate sense of romanticism and wonder that had filled her as a child, studying the history of her world and its ties to the Rebellion.
Beyond the bedroom lay Visanj’s private refresher. With grey tiled walls, a walk-in waterfall shower and Jacuzzi tub, vanity and mirror, toilet, and linen closet were also found. To the side, through another secured door was the walk-in wardrobe for Visanj’s assortment of clothing, armor, weapons, shoes, and other items. Hidden in the floor of this space, and another in the bedroom itself, were also smuggling compartments.

All in all, a suite fit for a Baroness, and a refuge from the galaxy outside where she could enjoy solace, relaxation, and intimacy with invited guests amid sybaritic comfort.

FILLING IN THE GAPS (Pt. 4)

Visanj knew she’d need some kind of emergency medical bay aboard, but did not want to chew up to much space on something she hoped she’d never need. Neither did she want to need it and not have it. The solution was simple: Use a Hippocrates Med Unit, kept in a small room off the corridor between the bridge and the Stateroom. Self-contained and suited to handle a variety of situations, it would do the trick in a pinch, and allow her to stay alive long enough (Again, she hoped) to get to real help if things were very bad. Essentially a highly-advanced hovergurney and med unit, it required little space. The medical room was sealed with an osmotic shield, preventing de-sterilization and contamination, and a storage compartment in the back held additional medical supplies, emergency EVA suits, weapons locker, as well as a fully-stocked field survival kit. If she needed it, it was there. Now let’s hope it never comes to that.

Additionally, some small guest dormitory was needed, just in case her guests weren’t the kind to be sharing her bedroom with. Similar in size to the medical room, a pair of basic – but comfortable – bunks were installed, together with two narrow standing wall lockers, two larger compartments beneath the bunks, and just below each one a sliding drawer, plenty of space for personal effects, clothes, etc. for longer trips for each passenger. Beyond two passengers, someone was sleeping on the couch, which wasn’t that bad. Visanj does it all the time. The bunkroom has a fold-out step-ladder for easy access to both bunks, and a small but comfortable private refresher with toilet, small sink and mirror, and a zZip Products Refresher Booth, which combined an ultrasonic shower with bacta incorporated into the wash. Pleasantly appointed, but certainly nothing fancy like her own digs it would have to do. After all, Visanj didn’t expect lots of passengers.

The entire ship was climate-controlled and antiseptic fields prevented molds, fungus, and other growths even in the technical rooms, storage units, and other areas. Shipboard lighting was almost entirely motion-activated, and could be turned off entirely by remote control through Vi’s datalogger. In fact, using Locke & Key’s Skynet Holocontrol System, Visanj could access shipboard systems operations and controls from anywhere onboard using holographic displays and voice command, password-encrypted security. Speaking of security, the techs she hired recommended a simple security measure to help in the event of intruders or boarding. A cleverly-concealed trap would open in the corridor ceiling, deploying several Marksman-H combat training droids, reprogrammed for security using friend-or-foe facial and voice recognition software and firing lethal blaster bolts. Able to operate in pitch blackness and being silent, the droids would search the inhabitable areas of the ship and eliminate unwanted guests. To prevent accidental damage, absorbital coating was applied throughout the ship’s interior. Ship-wide micro-cameras and microphones are also employed, allowing Vi to monitor throughout the ship even while she’s away, record various goings on, and even to eavesdrop on passengers if desired. Nothing happens on her ship she doesn’t know about. This meant the bunkroom could double as a lockable detention cell, thanks in part to a pulse shock field emitter that would stun anyone touching the walls, doors, and locks if it became active. All doors aboard could be over-ridden by Visanj also, making it impossible for anyone to barricade themselves into any portion of the vessel.

Twenty EODD E5-M "Spider" Mechanic Droids housed together in groups of ten, called "Nests", were located fore and aft and could be deployed to conduct repairs and maintenance as needed throughout the ship. This did a lot, ensuring good routine regular maintenance and a decent degree of emergency repair, however without much in the way of sentient crew members, there were still risks.

IT’S WHAT’S ON THE INSIDE THAT COUNTS (Pt. 5)

Using Segroth Shocksteel, the techs carefully crafted the housings for the shipboard systems, components, and circuits, cautious to maximize every inch of space and not to miss a single point. The durable, lightweight material and coating would offer significant protection for them against various threats. Every inch of wiring was treated with special insulation. A StarChild Command System was installed on the bridge. This ship would be a shining showcase of cutting-edge tech! Droid charging stations were added, with their own dedicated Gungan batteries, ensuring that a droid crew would be amply supplied with power. Also, an onboard surround sound and entertainment system was integrated into the stateroom lounge.

The hangar was enlarged, made suitable to hold a single starfighter whose design and construction was forthcoming. It could still hold up to 40 tons of cargo or a small speeder as well. The need for the starfighter was very real: Without additional support, the ship lacked combative capability for the most part, and the starfighter could help to compensate for that. At least to a degree. Speaking of cargo, the ship's large pantry and other storage permitted consumables for out to one year, longer if one counted the emergency rations stored in the survival kits in the medical bay room. Visanj would see to it that when the time came, the ship was well stocked with high-quality foodstuffs, liquor, t'bacc, and all the delights she could muster. Traipsing about the galaxy was fine, but there was no need to punish oneself in the doing of it.

From bow to stern, the Ne’tra’galaar was exactly as she’s hoped and wished it to be: Fast, stealthy, luxurious, sleek and sexy, everything she’d hoped to make manifest as her home, base of operations, and personal transport. With each passing day, the vision became increasingly clear. Visanj painstakingly collected every detail of the design, construction, modification processes, every aspect of the ship was carefully accounted for. It was expensive, but always a labor of love, and the pursuit of a dream made real. It would be her signature across the stars.

[OOC Note: This ship should have its own theme song. I'm thinking Barry White's "Dark & Lovely" ft. Isaac Hayes...]
