Strengths:
  • Emergency Hyperjump - At any moment, as long as systems are operable, an individual can hit an emergency button, which causes the ship to automatically plot a short hyperjump, anywhere. Perimeters of where one wants to jump, does not want to, can or can not can only be specified with a more advanced non-standard Navigational Computer.
  • Manual Plotting - The pilot may change their route or take manual control of a ships course during a hyperspace jump. Manual control is not advisable and could literally destroy their ship, possibly by hitting an asteroid, however, the system does allow an automatic course plot change mid-jump, which is safe.
Weaknesses:
  • Dangerous - Inexperienced pilots should not use any manual systems, and should always follow safety protocols. Otherwise, death is possible. However, it is just as dangerous as any Hyperdrive system, except manual control is much more possible.
  • Hyperdrive - This is the primary Hyperdrive of the ship, unless the ship is large enough to fit another one.

The Hyper Router was a specially made Hyperdrive and Hyperdrive System, tying both pieces of technology into one, essentially the Hyperdrive having its own operating system that is not separate and runs along side it and controls it directly. The Hyper Router allowed quick, short, emergency Hyperjumps if under emergency or needing a quick escape. Simply punch the button, and your Navigational Computer will immediately plot the fastest course with the shortest distance to your location, and you're off. Unfortunately, the device may become abused, as one actually can continue to hit the emergency plot button. Not only does this waste fuel, but the Regulator will eventually shut down the Hyperdrive to ensure it does not overheat. The Interstellar Jump Schedule is the only programmable feature on the Hyper Router, excluding options available with a Navigational Computer. The Jump Scheduler can be tuned to have different kinds of jumps... whether you want the maximum distance of 'short,' or the closest of shorts. So, the next system, or traveling within the same system. This can be utilized in combat to effectively dodge weapons fire, but it takes the same power consumption and processing power as any hyperdrive launch sequence. The Scheduler can be set to a short amount of time per jump, or its maximum, allowing it to plot courses as far as the emergency button can. In addition, the Hyperdrive can still be used like any ordinary Hyperdrive.
