Image Source: Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Comics

Intent: To bring to light a Sith artifact that is commonly overlooked/forgotten and expand upon it.

Development Thread: The Dragon Within: 12 posts/6000+ words

Manufacturer: Naga Sadow

Affiliation: Naga Sadow -> Exar Kun -> Akhilleus

Modularity: None

Production: Unique

Material: Alchemized Metal, Gems, Chain

Classification: Multi-purpose

Weight: 3.5kg

Quality: 8

Special Features:
  • Force Blast: When he first weilded the gauntlet Exar Kun was granted the powers of Force blast and so to are others that use this gauntlet. However this ability is incredibly difficult to control for those who first acquire the amulet as even Kun wasn't proficient with its use. Which can lead to one striking even allies
  • Battlemind Effect: After dawning this amulet Kun was able to withstand attacks and abilities that many others have died or fallen to, while still being able to keep going implying a battlemind like effect. At the same time this numbs one to what their true limits are where they can die from the damage they sustained without even realizing it. Or dying from overuse of the force.
  • Amp: The talisman offers an amp to whoever dawns it often increasing their abilities and prowess in the force.
  • Covering: While it is a gauntlet and shoulder pair the protection it offers is relatively small with the gauntlet not even extending to cover the palm of ones hand.
  • Rage: This talisman has the downside of outputting rage to the wearer and corrupting them to do things that they normally never would. Even those with mental immunity can fall prey to its effects.
  • Force Suppression: Of course this artifact is completely useless when inside of something that cuts it off from the force such as a Ysalamir bubble, or someone suppressing it with the force can temporarily stop its effects.
  • My Precious: This artifact has the effect of drawing the attention of those around it which can lead to allies betraying the current wielder and it also makes the owner incredibly paranoid to the point where they can't part with it.
  • Withering: After attaching oneself to the amulet they can not part with it for long periods of time as they will begin to wither away leading to advanced aging and even premature death at worse.
  • Force Aura: The aura put off by the talisman is so much so that anyone that practices either side of the force can sense it and where even NFU's can somewhat notice it. So of course it is impossible for one to be stealthy when wearing it.
Strengths:
  • Amp: The talisman offers an amp to whoever dawns it often increasing their abilities and prowess in the force.
Mixed:
  • Force Blast: When he first weilded the gauntlet Exar Kun was granted the powers of Force blast and so to are others that use this gauntlet. • Armor: One can not wear this gauntlet with another set of armor requiring one to strip off pieces of their armor set around the gauntlet at the minimum and at most all the way up to their shoulder if using the paldron.
  • Seductive Song: Sith artifacts and talisman's are known for possessing the effects to drive even the strongest masters insane and bending them to their will to where those without the mental fortitude will find themselves puppets to the talisman.

Description: Naga Sadow's gauntlet, one of the most sought after Sith artifacts of all time. Centuries have been spent by many aspiring Sith to acquire this talisman in hopes it would grant them the power necessary to destroy their foes. However, the main face people remember owning said talisman is the great Exar Kun, upon claiming the gauntlet Kun was granted great power that allowed him to fight against his past allies in the jedi order and wage a war on the galaxy as the New Dark Lord of the Sith. For all the positives that are known about this artifact there are negatives that come with it that even the wielders at times don't notice. Exar Kun was the prime example of using the amulet constantly without acknowledging its weaknesses. Such as how it didn't protect one’s palm when they dawned it and how while it had granted him great power he did not know how to control it. His first time using Force blast he released large beams of force energy that while destroying the Sith wyrm also led to him destroying much of the temple and the Massassi that stood off to the side before he finally ran out of energy. Even then his flesh had been scorched just from the first use.

Exar Kun was able to go on to battle some of the greatest force users of his day, the talisman even allowing him to take a hit from Aleema Keto's force blast which was known for disintegrating enemies and hit her back with enough force to send her flying. Not only that it granted him the ability to duel again Ulic Qel Droma for what would've been hours if not for the intervention of the ancient Sith spirits that had returned from Chaos. Not only that but his greatest feat of resistance was when he resisted the master level application of Force Light by Odan Urr. The Master who had trained Nomi Sunrider in the art and considered to be one of its greatest practitioners. All before retaliating with an attack that struck Odan Urr dead.

While having always been a great force user Kun's abilities were greatly amplified after his attainment of the talisman to the point where he considered himself a Master of the darkside after dawning it. Though this was mainly his own ego talking. However, he was able to duel the greatest masters of his era and even cast a Sith spell that froze the entire Galactic Senate in an instant. One must not forget he even accomplished something that not even Arca Jeth could achieve and that was the destruction of Freedon Nadd's spirit.

For all these positives one would think themselves unstoppable while wearing the gauntlet but that is simply not true. First they must deal with the uncontrollably of the force blast which can easily drain them if they try to use it without proper training with the talisman. Another is that while you may be able to withstand large attacks and keep going doesn't mean you should as the amulet dulls your senses and tells you you're fine when you're not. This can easily lead to one sustaining to much damage and dying or over extending themselves in the force. The uncontrollable rage and bloodthirst that comes with the talisman can be thought to be a boon but against a master of consume essence it could simply end up feeding ones’ enemy, and even if not it clouds the wearers mind and constantly fights to take over. This effect is so powerful that not even those that are mentally immune can ignore it.

One will inevitably find themselves drawn to the talisman where once attained they'll never wish to release it and those around the user will try to attain it. Not only that but if someone does happen to lose the talisman they will begin to wither away, first aging far faster than any humanoid should which will lead to a premature death. Finally, no matter where you go people will be able to sense you from meters away due to the force aura that the talisman puts off making it impossible for you to sneak. Even NFU's can feel a sensation when someone wearing the talisman is near.

Primary Source: N/A

This is a canon item

Instead of using the primary source area to list the information I drew this from, instead I will be using this to post not only scans from the comics, but quotes from the rpg guides and other Legends material that has to do with the talisman to better clarify its abilities as there is no wookie page on said talisman. All of these will be taking place after his obtaining of the talisman and I am not saying that anyone who uses this on Chaos will get the same amp as in pvp that would be extremely broken. The main reason for this choice is that there is no wookiepedia page for this artifact though it has been heavily featured in the TOTJ set of comics.

Exar Kun and Ulic fought, but they were too evenly matched for either to gain the upper hand. Their battle might have gone on for hours but for the macabre manifestation of a host of Sith spirits, led by the shade of Marka Ragnos.

-The Dark Side Sourcebook

She discovers the accounts of the Great Sith War, and learns that though Kun was far more powerful than any one other Jedi of the time, a combined force had defeated him.

Image of Exar Kun first dawning the amulet and showing how not only the rage fills him but also the tremendous power that he can now wield.

In this scan Exar Kun has lost control of the amulet as he hasn't properly how to control Force Blast or handle the power it granted him.

snapshot1.png

Exar Kun uses his newfound power to do what not even Arca Jeth a Master of the force could do, and that is destroy Freedon Nadd's spirit.

Exar Kun withstands a Force blast from Aleema Keto (Who has been known to turn people to skeletons with her use of it) And immediately retaliates with a blast that not only sends her flying but knocks her out. This would be an example of both the battlemind like effect as well as his growing power.

Here Aleema Keto notes that even with all her knowledge of Sith Magic she pales in comparison to Uliq and Kun. Both who are wearing Sith talismans and are humming with darkside energy.

In these panels Exar Kun withstands a Master level application of Force light cast by Odan Urr. (Who taught Nomi Sunrider, and is very much considered the greatest master of his era akin to yoda during the clone wars.) This would be an example of the battlemind ability as even Uliq qel droma couldn't resist a knight level application of the ability from Nomi.

Stretching out with the force Exar Kun retaliates against Odan Urr and strikes him down with his strength in the force.

Exar Kun displays his new strength with Sith Alchemy where he is able to freeze the entire Galactic Senate.

Hi [member="Akhilleus"]! I will be reviewing this submission.

  • Is this a talisman or a gauntlet? Several times throughout this submission the words gauntlet and talisman are used almost interchangeably. I need you to go back through this and ensure that it is one or the other.
Please include the Strengths / Weaknesses portion of the template in your submission.
Please also be very clear as to what powers this grants, amplifies, and their limits.

That's because it's a Sith talisman in the form of a gauntlet as shown in the images provided. It also extends to a shoulder Paldron in some sources.

If required I will make the edits?

Edited, and the abilities I listed were the ones it grants. The talisman does grant Force blast as shown in the scans provided, except they are uncontrollable to anyone first wielding the item. Of course this can eventually be compensated for such as shown by Kun when facing Aleema Keto but I'd think that would take a decent amount of training.

As for the battlemind ability I listed it due to the fact that after attaining the talisman Kun's resistance to attacks increased tremendously and he was able to power through attacks that would've put down a regular force user. Not only that him and Qel Droma's duel was stated to have lasted for hours if the ancient Sith hadn't intervened. Even the best duelists, Vader, Obi-wan, Mace & Palpatine. While long battles never lasted anywhere near that long nor would they be able to go on for such time hinting at the talisman granting a battlemind like effect. Qel Droma had a similar talisman as well.

AS for the amp no specific abilities are mentioned in neither the source guide or Comics. More so it increases the potency and force prowess of the abilities that the user overall as shown by Kun as not only did he gain Force blast but all his force abilities were amped to the point to where he struck down Odan Urr, who was very much the yoda of his era.

As for limits I'd say probably increase ones abilities by a decent amount. Nothing like the Gauntlet of Crassus nor will it turn a padawan into a master. But it would be a decent amp, I'm open to suggestions.

-The Dark Side Sourcebook (This is me saying that it possibly has a battlemind effect as we've seen most duels only last a minute or two and the longest one being a handful of minutes for the finest of duelists.)
Please just remove this, as it is confusing to the reader. Since it is listed in the submission as having this power, there is no need for this statement. Basically anything in the spoiler can only be for extra reading, not to determine what the gauntlet can or cannot do. Only what is in the template will be acknowledged.

I'm fine with a general understanding that it enhances Force ability to a degree, as there are many pieces of tech that do exactly that, so long as we're not turning apprentices into Yodas.

Edited

That was just there since there is no Wookie page on the gauntlet. Just wanted to have my bases covered trying to show that i only listed things within its ability instead of coming out from left field.

And no it certainly won't be doing such a thing at all.
