Affiliation: Naboo, Theed Hangar, Galactic Alliance, select Theed Hangar customers
Manufacturer: Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps
Model: S-3 Naboo Scout Fighter
Modularity: No
Production: Minor production
Material: Durasteel, glasteel
Classification: Scout fighter
Length: 5.7m
Height: 1.8m
Width: 4.6m
Armament: 2
  • 1 laser cannon
Defenses: 12
  • Fragile hull
  • High-grade shields

Squadron Count: 16, usually deployed in flights of 4

Special Features:
  • Advanced sensor package, including high-grade Dedicated Energy Receptor
  • Advanced communications package
  • 2 external reconnaissance probe racks (4 probes each)

Maneuverability Rating: 1
Speed Rating: 1
Hyperdrive Class: 1.5, backup 12

Strengths:
  • Can be loaded with 8 advanced recon probes, in varying combinations, at very short notice.
  • Backup hyperdive: can limp home pretty well, a rarity in a ship this size.
  • Powerful shields.
  • Strong sensor package.
Weaknesses:
  • Fragile hull. This is not a combat vessel.
  • Carries its probes externally, rendering them vulnerable to damage.
  • Virtually unarmed. The S-3 mounts a single laser cannon for minefield clearing and last-ditch defense.

Description: The S-3 scout fighter is, primarily, a deployment platform for advanced reconnaissance probes. Specifically, the S-3 can carry eight of the following probes in any proportion or combination:
  • The Strategic Intrasystem Active Reconnaissance (SIARC) probe obtains comprehensive scans of enemy forces and areas of heavy cover, such as dense nebular regions. Its secondary mission profile is advance warning through hyperspace traffic detection.
  • The Interdiction and Customs Inspection (INCIS) probe obtains in-depth short-range scans of unknown vessels. Its secondary mission profile is tactical interdiction via a miniaturized pulse-mass generator.
  • The Extended Prospecting and Atmospheric Reconnaissance (EXPARC) probe scans astronomical bodies and phenomena for in-demand raw materials and lifesigns.
  • The Superluminal Reconnaissance (SUREC) multirole probe is hyperspace-capable. The SUREC probe is suitable for prospecting, exploration, strategic or tactical missions.
The S-3 mounts a high-grade sensor suite, including a powerful Dedicated Energy Receptor. The DER module has automatic and manual targeting modes, and broad or focused scanning capability across a variety of spectra. The DER is easily the most complex part of the ship itself, and yields rewards comparable to the skill of the pilot. Between the DER’s finicky nature -- not just anyone can look at a field of static and deduce the presence of a distant ship -- and the S-3’s minimal armament, this is not a ship for novices.

The S-3 is a cramped little boat, but has a few creature comforts. A pilot may spend days at a time in the cockpit, but it’s not such a terrible experience, all things considered. Rations are good, lumbar support is excellent, and the pilot’s chair mounts a miniature myostim unit for isometric exercise.
