Intent: A reconnaissance probe launcher.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps
Model: Naboo Strategic Intrasystem Active Reconnaissance (SIARC) Probe Droid
Affiliation: Royal Naboo Defense Force, Theed Hangar, Galactic Alliance
Modularity: Can be adapted to launch a variety of small probes
Production: Minor
Material: Durasteel, electronics

Strengths:
  • Can launch a wide variety of probes.
  • Provides a given ship with any number of options for situational awareness on the strategic and tactical levels.
Weaknesses:
  • Must deploy in order to launch probes, a process of several seconds.
  • Vulnerable when deployed.

Description: The RASP Launcher, when extended, can deploy up to four probes at a time. When retracted, it can be reloaded with any combination of cylindrical sensor probes of 3 metres' length or less, including the following:
  • The Strategic Intrasystem Active Reconnaissance (SIARC) probe obtains comprehensive scans of enemy forces and areas of heavy cover, such as dense nebular regions. Its secondary mission profile is advance warning through hyperspace traffic detection.
  • The Interdiction and Customs Inspection (INCIS) probe obtains in-depth short-range scans of unknown vessels. Its secondary mission profile is tactical interdiction via a miniaturized pulse-mass generator.
  • The Extended Prospecting and Atmospheric Reconnaissance (EXPARC) probe scans astronomical bodies and phenomena for in-demand raw materials and lifesigns.
  • The Superluminal Reconnaissance (SUREC) multirole probe is hyperspace-capable. The SUREC probe is suitable for prospecting, exploration, strategic or tactical missions.
The number and assortment of probes held in the ship's internal magazine are usually proportional to the ship's size and mission profile.

In extreme circumstances, with time and effort, each of these probes could be outfitted with a basic warhead, comparable to a concussion missile. Therefore, the RASP is considered equivalent to a basic concussion missile launcher for combat purposes. However, the RASP would virtually never see such use unless all other offensive and defensive options had been exhausted.
