Rygel Larraq is not often a front line warrior. More often than not, he is commanding ships and fleets from on high rather than slugging through the mud. But, even a ship's captain understands that he needs a weapon. Having dealt with Clan Vereen on several occasions he commissioned its Alit'buir to craft him a weapon and set forth a number of requirements so that the weapon would play to his strengths and make up for his weaknesses.
Thus, Naast'beskad was forged in the fires under the fortress on Concordia. The spear was forged similar in appearance to a beskad, broad blade, short, relatively heavy for a one handed weapon, able to be wielded in the traditional style of Mandalorian warriors easily and seamlessly, fitting for any son of Mandalore. Crafted of Phrik with a plas-bonded ostrine edge, the weapon is lightsaber resistant and flash freezes anything it strikes. The blade is capable of flash freezing objects it strikes, with its effects increasing proportionally with the amount of force put into the strike. Normally the weapons can freeze several centimeters from the contract area in all directions, with compounding its effects with each additional strike in the same place. Using this ability it can cause heavy armor to become brittle or freeze a limb solid. This is ineffective against anything beyond personal armor, as it would take hundreds of strikes to freeze even a standard starship door to the point of shattering. The opposite side of the blade is treated with an alchemized Ionite Edge, a metal known for causing electronic disruptions. It was forge welded to the phrik core of the blade and folded over many times to maintain the strength of the blade. The inverse charge of the metal causes it to operate much like an contact based Ion Blaster, disrupting electronics it strikes, like droids, power armor, turrets, and distorting personal energy shields.
With the flick of a button the handle extends out, almost tripling the length of the weapon, from sixty to one hundred sixty centimeters, using Echanic Molecular compression technology. Expensive and difficult to work with, the spear, similar to the Handmaiden's staff, decompresses at the molecular level to extend the length without making the shaft hollow. The guard of the blade, or hilt guard, is made from alchemized Terenthium, strong, resistant to lightsabers, and able to absorb Force Lightning that strikes it, taking it in and holding the Force power, releasing it in a destructive fashion when the uninsulated blade strikes a solid surface. The handle is phrik and insulated to electric busts and extreme temperatures. The buttspike is actually the tip of a Force Pike, its vibro-edged stun module able to incapacitate a full grown wookiee at maximum power. At its lowest setting, besides off, the buttspike delivers excruciating electrical shocks, and at maximum settings it can cause full muscle paralysis, seizures, and even death.
