- Name: Mythogalaar
- Designation: Non-sentient
- Origins: Dral'vencuyot
- Average Lifespan: 30-40 years
- Estimated Population: Planetary
- Description: The Mythogalaar is a large flightless species of bird which serves the role of apex predator for many ecoystems on Dral'vencuyot.
- Breathes: Type 1
- Average Height of Adults: 4 meters
- Average Length of Adults: 8 meters
- Skin color: Beige, Light Brown, Dark Red, Orange
- Feather color: Brown, white, beige, auburn, orange, black, dark gray, white
- Distinctions: The Mythogalaar is remarkable for its massive size and the danger it poses to sentients within the galaxy. It doesn't fear sentients and is known to frequently prey on them should the opportunity present itself.
Male Mythogalaar are distinct by the bright red skin between their eye and beak, which is also brightly colored typically orange or other colors of red. Female Mythogalaar lack these bright colors with their beaks typically being black.
- Races: N/A
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
- Crusher: The Mythogalaar is incredibly strong and is capable of crushing durasteel with its beak and powerful kicking legs.
- Persistence Hunter: The Mythogalaar may not be incredibly fast but it is capable of high activity for hours. Typically this is used to tire their prey through prolongued hunts but it is just as capable of letting the Mythogalaar fight prolongued or back-to-back battles for hours.
- Lumbering Giant: Due to the Mythogalaar's sheer size it is not very fast and is only slightly faster than the typical human runner only reaching top speeds of 15km/hr. Furthermore due to its size it is not particularly dexterous and can be outmaneuvered by much faster creatures fairly easily.
- Flesh and Blood: The Mythogalaar is not a sithspawn or biological weapon of war. Average weapons available to public: blasters, slug throwers, and vibroswords are more than enough to kill a Mythogalaar. It can take several hits but it doesn't have any major protection from these weapons.
- Diet: Carnivore
- Communication: The Mythogalaar are actually quite quiet and most of the sounds made by them are below typical sentient hearing being deep groans and chortles. What can be heard are deep squaks they use to threaten one another along with the thunderous snapping of their beaks which can sound like a cannon being fired.
- Technology level: N/A
- Religion/Beliefs: N/A
- General behavior: Mythogalaar are typically solitary and deeply territorial creatures who claim large tracts of land for themselves and their young. The only companionship a Mythogalaar will have is their mate, which they partner with for life. A Mythogalaar and their partner will mark several square kilometers of territory with scent markings mixed in with their spit which they rub on trees, the ground, and other landmarks to mark their territory's boundaries. Any Mythogalaar who ventures into another's territory is often met with combat with the larger more virile Mythogalaar chasing the other off or even killing them in rare occassions.
The territory claimed by a Mythogalaar is used primarily for hunting, and pairs of Mythoglaar frequently fight over prime hunting grounds around bodies of water. Within a secured section of their territory will be a nest, a great heap of plant life creating a large cushion for resting on and to keep eggs warm while either parent is away. Around this nest will be uprooted trees and logs serving as a simple but effective makeshift barrier against scavengers and other Mythogalaar. These nests, sometimes called 'hill forts' due to them typically being built on high altitude locations, are an intimidating sight to see and typically have fields of bones outside of them from discarded meals.
A Mythogalaar pair will raise their young to adulthood together, with a typical clutch of eggs being only two or three eggs. Usually only one of those eggs will reach adulthood over a four to six year span, afterwhich they will be chased away and the couple will lay a new clutch.
Young Mythogalaar will remain within the territory of their parents for another year or so, though being ignored or chased off by their parents frequently, before setting out to find their own mates. Once a couple pairs they'll attempt to create their own territory by either finding untaken land or attacking a weaker already established couple.
The Mythogalaar is the largest and most dangerous predator on Dral'vencuyot and is the centerpiece of many local myths and cultural practices. In the past the local Mandalorians of Dral'vencuyot attempted to tame the Mythogalaar but its size, stubborn attitude, and unpredictability quickly made that unlikely. Still a few zoos across the planet have Mythogalaar enclosures where they are treated with caution and respect as millions across the planet flood to see them monthly.
