Private Mystery Unmasked

Lady Mysterium

We all wear masks...
I stand alone at a dance awaiting a certain someone to find me. I watch the others as they moved, danced and chatted together. They too came to this venue with the same purpose as I; and that is to meet and perhaps connect with someone. This is unlike anything that I have ever done before, and yet here I am. My previous attempt to perhaps attend one of these events failed as I did not have a match. So it made no sense to go alone.

And although my lists of likes and dislikes did not match a certain individual that reached out to me this time around; one man is still persistant in meeting with me. The man even threw in a bit of mystery similar to my own to entice me. And who am I to say no to that?

I bare a bit more confidence today, given that for this event I am wearing a mask to hide my identity. Such a thing grants me a certain type of freedom that I would otherwise not have had. Wearing a mask keeps my identity and name away from public scrutiny. Plus it protects my own self from harm as well, both my reputation and emotions. The dress that I wear is fit to match my mask. Afterall, I cannot be seen in anything but the best. First impressions are an important thing, regardless of what some people might say.

My vision is only slightly hindered due to the mask; and given that it covers my full face, I am unable to have a drink on hand. But no matter. The music is lovely and I am hopeful that at some point soon, the man that I am waiting for will arrive.

The Zinder event was still to be announced, however that didn't stop the Mutt and his match from jumping the gun and meeting ahead of time. Personally, Yuri preferred this kind of interaction, more freedom and no time constraints. They could do whatever they wanted and go anywhere. He was nervous, however, about meeting this "Lady Mysterium" with so little info on her. For all he knew, she could be a Sith Lord looking for a new sacrifice.

As long as she was easy on the eyes, it didn't sound like a bad idea.

The venue was some kind of party which immediately left Yuri a little self-conscious about his presentation. Suit jacket and pants coupled with a floral shirt more fitting for a vacation on Scariff than a formal ball. But beneath the jacket hung his shoulder holster containing Peace. A Mandalorian must always have a weapon on hand. Overall, he felt good about his looks, he even combed his mane into a more tidy mess than it would usually be. But compared to the surrounding sea of gorgeous dresses and cut suits, he stood out against the crowd for all the wrong reasons.

The Mutt put on a cool smile and suppressed the unpleasant thoughts as he helped himself to a glass of something expensive for a sip as he searched for his date. Thankfully it wasn't a masquerade ball, so finding her wouldn't be a manhunt.

Curious looks had come my way, afterall I am the only one wearing a physical mask. I thought that I could hear the whispers of whether or not I was confused over the theme of the ball. But I do my best to pay them no mind. They do not know me, nor do I know them. So who cares what the strangers say upon a small glimpse that they will soon forget about by morning.

No sooner did I roll through that thought for the fourth time that the gentleman that I am looking for had arrived. I let out a breath that I did not realize that I am holding. Perhaps a part of me had feared that he would not come at all. And now that fear has been proven false.

He stands out like I do, which makes it easy for the both of us. His outfit is formal in some respects; yet casual as well. I can already tell that it is not his normal attire, however I appreciate the effort all the same.

I make my approach, setting myself in a pace that is well practiced and is at such a speed that is neither rushed, nor purposely delayed. The fact that he has a drink on hand makes me second guess wearing a full faced mask, however I am comforted in the fact that I had a tall glass of wine before I had arrived here.

Wearing a smile that is sure to be heard through my voice, I speak to him loud enough to be heard above the music. "How lovely to see you. Thank you for coming. And I must admit that I am a little out of my element here as I am certain that you are. But perhaps that can give us a certain level of freedom that we might not of otherwise had.

Was your journey uneventful?" I do not know anything about his employment, just as he knows nothing about mine. So it is not an easy guess as to how easy or difficult space travel can be for him.

Still looking around to get a lay of the land, Yuri took note of a masked figure approaching him. Studying her as she closed in, he took another careful sip and met hr arrival with a warm smile. She made a few remarks that drew a chuckle out of the Shistavanen, helping him relax a little in this strange circumstance. "Compared to the last few trips I had, this flight was as good as a holiday." He quipped. "As for our 'element'..." He spared another look around. "I'd b lyin' if I said this kinda gig was normal for me. Was half wishin' I put some more effort into my getup." He continued.

After a beat, he extended a hand to give hers a gentlemanly shake. Would a kiss on her hand be a bit too over the top? Most likely. He was still trying to figure out whether her interest was genuine or not.

Sith Lord sacrifice was still on the table.

"Yuri Maji. It's a pleasure to meet you." He formally introduced himself. He still felt a bit stiff, unsure of how to approach her. She wasn't the usual caliber of woman that he associated himself with. Thy tended to be either scoundrels, Mandalorians or Jedi. None of which really fit the aristocratic flare that this particular aristocrat gave off. "Care for a walk? I'd offer a dance, but I'm a little rusty with this kinda thing." He nodded to the elegant motions of some of the other guests around them. Holding out an arm for her, he finished his drink and deposited the empty glass on a nearby table.

"So... sorry if I'm a bit forward here... but are you some kinda royalty or am I gonna end up on an altar in Sith airspace by the end of tonight?" He quipped with a toothy grin as he spared the masked lady a glance. Her mask might have thrown other people off, but reading an emotionless faceplate was somewhat of a specialty for his people. So far she didn't seem too put off by the mutt.

His journey was uneventful, unlike others were? It makes me wonder if he is a soldier. Given his look, I think that that is a safe assumption.

"I am out of my element as well. This is a first for me. And so far it is turning out quite alright. But do not worry about your outfit. I believe it to be rather fitting for this event. While mine is probably more suited for a more sophisticated crowd."

I take his hand and give it a shake as he introduces himself. There seemed to be a bit of a pause there by him, as though he is thinking about something. More than likely he is trying to determine who I am. "It is lovely to meet your acquaintance Mister Maji. I would properly introduce myself but," I gesture towards my mask, "that would solve the mystery a little too early. As for the walk, I would be delighted." My arm easily hooks up around his and I find that comforting. Or perhaps it is the polite manners that comforts me more. There has not been many a time where I have encountered rudeness in person. Such things tend to happen away from my presence.

His suggestion that I was some Sith made me laugh. Never has it ever been suggested that I am one of those. "Not royalty, no. Although I have led my homeworld for a time. As well as it's largest company, among other things. And if you end up on a Sith altar tonight, it will surely not be by me. I am no Force Wizard. I do not have their magic. I am incapable of it. And what about you? Have you found yourself in that kind of trouble before?" I know that he was looking for someone to along those lines, which is the opposite of me. But that is not to say that I have never been in trouble. I have often hired bodyguards for a reason.
