Madi Kren
The Eclipse Sect was not an organization of friends, nor was it an arena that carried much in the way of political weight within the wider Sith Empire. Still, relationships—whether transactional, personal, political, spiritual, or of wholly different nature—could be cultivated within the bounds of the Sect. In that, Ellissanthia had inadvertently made a connection with Madri Kern, an Eclipse Ascendant of greater stature (both literally and hierarchically) who held a rank within the Sect that the Undine aspired to one day reach.
A number of Ellissanthia’s peers had recognized her as a savant in the area of applying raw telekinetic power. Her reputation within the Sect had grown with her resume and the number of connections she had made with Sith, who carried influence and power beyond that of any Jen’jidai. Thus, she had been given the opportunity to prove to Madri that her reputation was neither false nor unwarranted.
And if her reputation proved true, a relationship could be built in which both Ascendant and Adept would thrive.
Of course, Madri had nothing to prove. Ellissanthia had known of her since her earliest days at the Temple, when she herself was still fresh from the Sith Academy on Dromund Kaas. Madri Kren was a Blade Master—a virtuoso in lightsaber combat who was arguably the best duelist in the Sect, and better than most Sith beyond it.
Now, standing at the center of the training chamber, Ellissanthia waited in reverent silence for the Ascendant’s arrival. The room was awash in a dim crimson glow from the recessed lighting, the blue-hued sheen of the Undine’s skin reflecting the color like porcelain dipped in blood. Her expression was restrained, yet her wide, unblinking eyes betrayed a faint and restless anticipation.
She had just finished her morning conditioning exercises, her breathing still subtly controlled from exertion, but her posture remained composed. Around her, a selection of objects floated in slow, precise orbits—a demonstration of her control and the tools for what was to come. A dense stone slab. A hollow durasteel sphere. A shard of brittle bone. A glass orb so delicate that even the faintest tremor would shatter it.
Everything was ready.
Ellissanthia’s slender, elongated fingers flexed slightly at her sides, not out of nervousness but as an unconscious ritual, a tiny superstition to still her mind. A silent reminder passed in her thoughts then, one that was equal parts demanding and expectant.
Do this well. Do it perfectly. Prove yourself useful.
And so the Undine waited, the silence of the chamber deep and anticipant, ready to receive the one whose approval might shape the future of her place within the Sect.
