Pogo the Hutt — In a Calm Mood
"What that...?"

"In good time, in good time," the old man said gently. In fact, that seemed his default state. Just a kindly old man, but a careful eye would see a keenness to him. A strength in his shoulders that suggested perhaps he was an old soldier or a weathered combat veteran. A flash of blue and red lights passing shown through the curtains, and a breeze fluttered them. Pogo seemed nonplussed though. People around here kept to their own business for the most part. Koma had a bundle in his hands that neither Emilia nor Pogo had noticed at first, which he placed down on the floor next to a wooden bench, which had a very old looking kettle and metal cups arranged next to it. Koma took his time pouring hot water into the two, then dropped something that looked like dried leaves into them. After a moment, he sighed and picked the cups up. One he handed to Pogo, who rumbled irritably. "Patience, my friend. You're always in a hurry in spite of how long a lifespan you will have. You must learn to savor each and every moment."

Then he held out a cup to Emilia. "Please. Have some tea." He placed the cup down on the table near her and then turned about and walked to a series of crude shelves, each one overflowing with collected items. He mused as he picked through them, and then finally withdrew a simple clear crystal. Only a shard. Pointed on both sides, with smooth facets roughly collected on the sides. He slipped it into the pocket in his robe.

Then he approached the device she had lain down. A mesh of wires and disassembled puzzle-like pieces. He seemed to think for a moment. Then he considered. Then he looked at Emilia, and placed his thumb to the side of his nose as if deciding something he had already resolved himself to. Then, his hand slid out of his pocket, cupping the crystal, which he twisted into his fingers like a magician producing a coin.

Pogo finally looked interested. He leaned forward and downed his tea in a single gulp. Instantly he seemed like the color had returned to his face, and he was sweating far less. "What that...?" he asked low, almost a note of suspicion in his voice. The bearded old man carried the crystal gently between his index and thumb and forefinger. Slowly he leaned down, bringing the crystal to Emilia's eye-level.

"Concentrate on this. Be calm. Simply concentrate." He lowered himself to one knee, his eyes shimmering as if he had already discovered everything he needed to know already. If the Force was in her, the stone would resonate. Perhaps Emilia would know this, but Pogo did not. The big Hutt leaned forward, his sloppy wet bindings swinging away from his chest as he did. The chains wrapped around his torso and shoulders jingled slightly.

"Not you Pogo," said Koma softly. "Just... her."

Her head whipped around at the sound of the sirens, but the flash of blue and red were only there for a second, before fading away. Emilia let out a breath, knowing that at least for now they’d not have to worry about it. Not that anyone in the area ever wanted to deal with the CSF sniffing around.

Turning back around, Emilia watched with curiosity as Koma walked over to a table with a mysterious bundle in his hands. Recognizing that the old man was likely making some tea, Emilia walked over and sat herself down in one of the chairs.

Oh, thank you!” She replied, happily accepting the offered cup. She peered down at the liquid, not having really had tea before. But Emilia knew it was rude to accept something offered and not drink it. So she took a sip, and her expression almost immediately soured at the unexpected taste.

Maybe she wasn’t going to be the biggest fan of tea.

But again, she wasn’t going to be rude and continued to drink it. Despite the taste not getting much better with each sip, Emilia could feel some of her deplenished energy slowly returning to her.

It was during that time that she began to look around, her eyes firmly affixed upon the various gadgets and devices Koma all around his shop. There was no erratic, painful buzzing in her ears, like out on the street or in the gambling den. Instead, it was more of a harmonious static. As if every single piece of technology had been finely tuned with the shop.

Emilia’s focus was broken however, when she heard Pogo speak. She turned her gaze to see Koma approaching, lowering himself down so he could be roughly level with her. Confusion settled on her face, especially as she focused on the crystal-looking object in his hand

O-okay, I’ll try.” Emilia continued to stare at the crystal, focusing on it like she would any piece of tech. For almost a minute, nothing seemed to happen. Not even the slightest flicker of response from the crystal.

Until all of a sudden, it faintly pulsed for a moment.
