Intent: To make a pair of rings I was originally going to submit after a thread was done as a surprise, but that kind of.. backfired. Submitting it now while I'm sleep-deprived and bored.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Braith Achlys
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Braith Achlys
Modularity: None
Production: Semi-Unique (2 Rings)
Material:
  • Alchemized Agrinium
Special Features:
  • Depression
When this pair of rings are worn, whether both are worn or just one, and those two travel a considerable distance from the other for extended periods of time (weeks, planetary distance), both wielders begin to suffer various mental conditions such as, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, and sometimes even psychosis if left apart for two long. Suicidal thoughts and tendencies are not uncommon, as are feelings of futility.

[*]Serenity
  • When both pairs of rings are close together for extended periods of time (weeks, within personal distance) the wearers of these rings feel an extreme sense of calm. Not unlike the sensation of serenity experienced during pleasant sleep.

Description:
Since time immemorial war has plagued the galaxy in some form or another. During the era of the Celestials, even, there was an uprising by the Rakata. Chaos has permeated the galaxy for such a long time that it is hard - impossible, even - to imagine what a place without conflict might be.

To some, this is stagnation - the sign of an unending decay that will loop endlessly, a plateau that is unnatural. To others it is an abstract concept, something called peace - a nirvana of sorts. But to people who have experienced a time without the ability to act, that have experienced a botched incarceration meant to be eternal - people who have been placed into oubliettes, carbonite, and other contraptions that were meant to freeze every last part of them like a prison.

To them there is emptiness. Nothing. Almost like.. sleep.

Braith Achlys, at the time of these ring's creation, had been a lesser known alchemist, someone who had shied from public eye after she was freed from her incarceration. So much knowledge behind the force, like her ingenious creation that would give Corvus Raaf her peerless defense against the dark side, and with access to holocrons of legendary masters of the force, such as Marka Ragnos, one might expect an object that was designed with pride to surpass those from the past.

Only these rings carried a single feeling.

Futility.

Whenever these rings remain apart for long enough, both wearers will experience an incredible amount of anxiety. Suicidal tendencies and psychosis are expected side-effects, indeed intended. Separation drives the two together - though Braith always intended to stay close to the free-spirited Jedi, it was obvious that at some point there would be a time where separation might become inevitable. Perhaps it was foresight, maybe it was obsession. In the end these two rings were made, and one was presented to Corvus.

Unlike her other creations, a blood trail wasn't placed on either - they couldn't be traced back to each other, the only way they could find the other would be through willingness on part of both parties. Separating the two for too long may result in irreversible mental trauma, likely in the form of some kind of psychosis.

Nothing, of course, stops someone from taking off the ring except the realization that doing so would be harmful to the other person wearing it if the ring wasn't found by the other person - assuming they did not discard the ring themselves.

There only benefit to bringing these rings back together is the calming sensation felt by both wearers, like resting after a long day of labor.
