TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Classification: Light Frigate
Length: 200 meters
Hyperdrive: Average
Hangar: Low (0 Squadron)
Speed: High
Maneuverability: Low
Defense: Low
Armament: High
  • 2x Triple-gun Light "Beam" Turbolaser Turrets
  • 3x Escort Grade Prow-launching Torpedo Tubes
  • Numerous Point Defense Laser Cannons
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Advanced Navigational Systems (WPC/EBS)
STANDARD FEATURES
Strengths:
  • Highly destructive primary weaponry fire a continuous beam of energy for several seconds. Depending on how the ship and the target ship are moving, this beam could hit a single spot on the enemy ship or could rake across the surface of the ship. Should the beam be kept on a particular spot, the beam is highly damaging to shields and can sometimes penetrate through to damage the hull of the ship long before the shields fail completely. Should the beam rake across the surface of an unshielded ship, the attack can prove highly damaging as the beam can damage large sections of a ship in a single salvo.
  • Rapidly regenerating shields recover quickly from being drained and excel at withstanding numerous strikes from lesser craft
  • High grade steel construction affords the craft exceptional structural integrity
  • Composite armor plating stands up to high power energy weapons very well
  • Capable of diverting power away from maneuvering thrusters to overcharge primary Ion Drives, affording the ship a temporary +1 Rating to Speed at the expense of a temporary -1 Rating to Maneuverability
  • Capable of diverting power away from primary Ion Drive to overcharge weapon systems, affording the ship a temporary +1 Rating to Armament at the expense of a temporary -1 Rating to Speed
Weaknesses:
  • Beam weaponry have a low rate of fire and a long reload between shots
  • Beam weaponry that does not 'rake' a ship can often do little damage to lightly armored targets as the beam over-penetrates the hull
  • Rapidly regenerating shields are more likely to be pierced by high powered weaponry
  • Built from a high density metal, these ships are heavy and slow to move and maneuver
  • Weapon Power Converter and Engine Boosting System cannot be active at the same time, nor can either system be rapidly activated and deactivated (IE, no rapid toggling of stats mid-post)

DESCRIPTION

Named for a city on Gandle Otti, the Montrol-class Light Frigate is a fast, heavily armed warship used both by the Pimbrellan League and allied nations throughout the Outer Rim Coalition. Known for their exotic beam weaponry, the Pimbrellans have equipped their Montrol-class Light Frigate with a suitable armament for their people. The ship sports two turrets on her dorsal and ventral sides, each armed with three beam weapons of incredible strength. Each of these weapons emits a beam of energy comparable to what one would expect from a light turbolaser. However, this beam of energy persists for several seconds and do not detonate into an explosive blast when impacting a hostile ship. Where the energy bolts of Turbolasers and Blasters are highly contained within electromagnetic fields that falter and detonate upon impact, the containment field of these Beam weapons retain their strength after point of contact. This retention, along with the effect of a sustained beam, makes these weapons highly damaging to very large targets, as the beams are capable of penetrating deep into the hull of a target ship and causing wide swaths of a ship to suffer structural damage. This also makes the weapons more likely to cause critical damage to internal components of a hostile ship. The downside to this though, is that the weapons have difficulty with particularly thick armor plating on fast moving ships. Similarly, as a weapon with a long delay between shots, the weapon can struggle to bring down certain types of shields. Supporting this primary battery are three large prow-launching torpedo tubes that can fire a wide range of ordnance packages and numerous point defense laser cannons.

Though the Montrol-class Light Frigate shares the same construction materials as her two larger cousins, the ship is of a far lighter, narrower construction and is not intended for line combat. Fast for a ship of her size, and very fast when compared to her two larger cousins, the Montrol-class is intended to range ahead of the fleet and is designed with a high sublight speed as one of her primary attributes. Similarly, the ship's primary weapon and ordnance complement is rather exceptional for a ship of her size. And just like her cousin ships, so sturdy is the Montrol's hull that it can withstand severe gravitational strain before risking failure. And the composite armor plating that encases the ship is made from the same energy resistant composite plating as her cousins.

You may want to edit the latter half of this sentence.

Double-layered KL-44 / HU-OC Deflector Shields

Defense: Low

I'm not sure if I can count double-layered shields as "low" defense, unless there's some caveat written within the submission itself (like the individual shield systems themselves are quite weak or the ship has very light armor).

Overall, this looks like it is one rating too high, which may be because of the hangar. At this size of ship, for balancing purposes, we do not differentiate between "low" and "very low" because they both equal zero squadrons.

My copy/paste skills have failed me!

Fixed the issues. Should be good to go now.

Ended up swapping out the style of shields, which made me change out the shield-related strengths and weaknesses and ended up with me dropping a paragraph.
