Mon Calamari Shipyards (Ownership Transfer)

Note: The ownership of the company was transferred to me by Selka Ventus, but I am resubmitting the shipyards as some things have changed on Mon Cal.

Corporation Name: Mon Calamari Shipyards

Headquarters: Mon Calamari City, Dac

Locations: Dac

Operations: Shipbuilding and R&D

Rationale: When the shipyards were first nationalized by the Sith Empire, and the Mon Calamari diaspora swelled, they found haven on Eshan, and many began working for Eshan Drive Yards, producing ships such as the MC180 Remembrance-class command vessel for the Republic. Later, when Kaine Zambrano deported the majority of the Mon Calamari, Eshan became a major center of the diaspora.

After the Republic liberated Dac and the damaged but largely intact shipyards, Silk Holdings worked to resettle the Mon Calamari en masse, from all the worlds where Zambrano had sent them or where they had fled. Silk's contractors, the former Rebel Alliance, rescued the imprisoned Mon Calamari and invested in their future.

The resulting vessels, including the MC15 Niathal, the MC42 Ruisto, the MC70 Ackbar, and the MC220 Bel Iblis, revitalized Mon Calamari shipbuilding and prepared a strong core of Mon Cal expertise within Silk/EDY. In time, with assets from Silk and EDY, it was spun off as a resurrection of the legendary brand Mon Calamari Shipyards. Its yards are cooperative with those of its parent company, allowing the Mon Calamari Shipyards brand name to grace even the largest of Silk-built vessels.

However, the company was transferred to the admiral of the Mon Calamari defense fleet, Tesh Aquer, after production and sales had declined. The Admiral restructured the company, splitting it into a government-controlled military side and a publicly owned civilian side. The funds from the publicly owned side are sometimes redirected into the military side.

Tier: 2

Description:
The Mon Calamari shipyards, long a staple of galactic shipbuilding, is one of the primary suppliers of cruise ships and military ships around the galaxy. The ships have multiple Mon Calamari "trademarks", such as curved hulls, redundant shielding, powerful armor, and command "clusters" instead of bridges. The restructuring of the Mon Calamari shipyards has somewhat affected the type of ships produced. Without the Republic's support, the shipyards lost many resources necessary to produce large ships. As such, the shipyards focus on smaller, more supportive ships that function together, rather than simply racing to build the biggest ships. An advantage of the new system of shipbuilding is allowing more intuitive and advanced technology to be implemented freely and on smaller scales. Without the burden of having to implement a system on enormous ships, the engineers and developers of the Mon Cal shipyards can make smaller and more advanced systems.

As part of the progressive movement of fleet combat, the shipyards are expanding into starfighters as well as corvettes, frigates, and a few large ships. Ships with more carrier-like capabilities are also being developed, as well as artillery frigates, disabling frigates, and any number of diverse ship builds.

The ships maintain their classic design philosophies, however. The survival of crew and the ability to take a beating without suffering terribly due to highly powerful shielding and armor is still at the core of the design. However, speed and maneuverability are becoming more of a priority, as it was a classic weakness of Mon Cal ships. Weaponry is still not the highest priority, as more aggressive design has never been a design point. The use of ion cannons and other disabling weaponry is still a common feature for the ships.

The company is looking to split into two components: military and civilian. Long have the two functions of the shipyards coexisted, but it is now necessary to split them in two. One side is the military aspect, controlled mostly by the government, while the other has more mundane functions and is publicly owned. However, income from the civilian side is often diverted into the military side through a clever bureaucratic system.

Do you have a thread showing the transfer of the canon company?

If not, a quick ten post thread will be required to show the transfer of ownership of the canon company if you want to keep this at tier 3.

Otherwise per canon company rules, this can only start at tier 2.

Approved after being added to the pm for confirmation of transfer.

Please keep in mind the tier restrictions on length since you are no longet tier 3.

Approved pending secondary.
