Description:
Infantry engagements can be won or lost by the ability to put suppressing fire on the enemy. However traditionally the most medium machine gunners on the battlefield are forced to set up in a single location before firing upon the enemy. However those times are now in past as Arakyd industries innovates technology to bring warfare to the next level. In comes the Mobile Medium Machine-gun with a new way to bring pain to the enemy through a simple system of stabilizers
How it works. A harness is strapped onto the user, it's a simple metal harness that straps over the user's armor and connected to it is the traversing arm stabilizer. This is what makes the weapon what it is. The arm takes most of the recoil and shock from when the weapon fires giving the user the ability to fire it while on the move. It allows the user to get a full range of motion around them but the weapon needs to be fired from the hip in return, so this means a HUD system is normally needed to place accurate shots without tracer rounds. HUD systems such as the AWV work the best with it but as long as the users HUD has a way to track and mark targets the weapon will work with just about any system.
Power. The bullet can rip through speeders and most personal armors, but it's sadly not strong enough to punch through vehicle armor. It's a great anti personnel weapon but suffers when it comes to engaging vehicles. It can hit hard and suppress enemy infantry in almost any environment, however it shines in urban based combat as it can sweep buildings and tight spaces quite well and be set up just about anywhere. Reloading is a simple and easy process. When the drum is empty simply pull out the spent magazine and jam the fresh one into the magazine well that is located on the weapons a left side (side that faces the body) it's located to the rear to make reloading a breeze. If you are loading a belt from a can simply open up the feed tray and slap on a new belt. Both forms of reloading do not require the user to remove the harness. The traversing arm grants the weapon a very wide range of movements so the user can simply set the weapon aside with one arm while maintaining control. This process normally takes only a few seconds depending in the competency of the operator. Most seasoned operators can replace the magazine in ten to twenty seconds
Weaknesses. It's a heavy piece of weaponry, whoever is holding it may have the ability to fire on the go but they won't be running anytime soon. The fastest any average non augmented humanoid user would be able to get while carrying this is a fast jog. Another problem the weapon has it jams at times as it can be belt fed, to correct this simply cock the weapon back and continue to rock. And while it's not required for the user to use a HUD system it's generally highly recommend as without it the user will have to fire from the hip and judge by eye on a target. But as it is a medium machine gun that can be carried by the average soldier a lot of it's range is lost by the traversing arm, a machine gun of it's caliber is traditionally set up to maximize it's range which is much larger than this weapons, but range was sacrificed to give the weapon mobility.
Summary. The MMM is a great weapon to have for almost any engagement. It's a rather standard medium machine gun attached to a harness system, while the range is a bit lower it is great for small units that are on the go and need the added fire power that this weapon brings to the table.
