PRODUCTION INFORMATION

 • Manufacturer: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/125453-obsidian-polaris-systems/

 • Affiliation: Closed-Market

 • Model: Mobile Hex-grid System(MHS)

 • Modularity: Weapons, Material type, System Size(Ring[System is formed in a ring around the ship], Pond[Designed for ships with large flat surfaces, this size move weapons in a set area without allow movement to other sides of the ship], Complete[Entire ship is cover in hex system allowing any mounted weapon to move basically anywhere not taken up with a fixed system(I.E. Comms arrays or engines)], Hex Panel Size(Large: Cruiser Class or bigger, Medium: Corvette or Frigate Class, Small: Fighter Class only.

 • Production:, Mass-Produced.

 • Material: Alusteel, Plasteel, Movement systems(Micro computers, Durasteel, Heavy duty motors), Power systems(generators, wiring, Micro computers), Replacement Hex storage(Number of stored hexes is based on system size, Hex Replacement system( computer, Durasteel, Alusteel, Heavy duty Motors), Control Systems(Adaptive Learning Computer)
SPECIAL FEATURES

 • Weapons in motion: This system allows weapons to change positions on a ship hull to allow for better shots or to increase fire to a specific vector.

 • Hex Replacement: The hex system also acts like armor in the places it in, Hexes can be replace mid combat allowing for damaged armor to be replaced on the fly. But only in places that have MHS
Strengths:

 • Mobile Platforms: Hexes allow weapons or other mounted system to move to any place that is required as long as that area has a Hex system. This allows for weapon to be used to a greater effect as they can move to gain better angle of fire.

 • Mobile Armor: All hexes are highly armored and can be used to protect critical parts of the ship as they need additional armor. The Hex system is not apart of the ships hull but sits on top of the hull, meaning that shots on Hex grids result in little to no damage to the ship itself.

 • Insulated and compartmentalized: Each hex is insulated against Ion Energy, meaning that Ion shots against Hex Grids only disable the Hex(s) they hit. Power generators and munitions are stored on the underside of the Hex to reduce risk of damage.

 • Weaknesses:

 • Compartmentalized weapons and power systems: Due to the nature of the system any system that is mounted on the grid is stand alone and thus has to have its own power generator and/or Munitions storage, which presents with possibility of a munitions store being hit or a generator going down.

 • Replacements: When a hex needs to be replaced it is jettisoned into space, and then the system has to shuffle hex around until it opens up a Hex deployment spot, this leaves a spot(s) open that may be fire upon to directly damage the ship. Their is also a gap between the hull and the hex system that depending on size fighters or boarders may get into and sabotage other hexes.

 • Ion Damage and Hexes: While Ion damage is limited on Hex this does not reduce the effect that they can have. When a hex is hit with ion damage it is unable to be moved at all until it is rebooted. Larger Ion weapon also hit larger areas which means large parts of Hex grid can become paralyzed. These Hexes can be ejected still as the jettison system is separate from the hex itself.

 • Variable to Impact’s: The system run on a rail based system that, while it has some flexibility, is for the most part ridged. This mean the system is highly susceptible to ramming and other attacks that apply extreme sustained pressure for more than a few seconds

 • Derailing: With enough sustained fire on area of Hex-grid may cause the Rail system underneath to buckle which will cause all hexes in that region to derail and separate from the system. This kind of damage require several minutes of sustained fire and will take leave the ship in that area exposed until it is able to dock and have repairs done.

 • Exposed Movement: To move Hexes around the replacement system(s) will pull the hex above them out of the rails to allow hexes to move, this exposes the inner workings of the Hex-grid while weapons are moving. The Larger the Hex pannels, the slower the movement.
DESCRIPTION
This system allows movement of any mounted weapon to any part of a ship that has a Hex grid, this gives a ship the ability to bring all weapons it may possess to any. The Hex system is not the apart of the ships hull but something that sits on top of it in a way similar to a shell or carapace, meaning most shot on Hex grids will do almost no real damage to the ship itself.
