Varik Ice was a name that had largely shifted away from Aryn's focus following their engagement on Dagobah before the offset of the war the Alliance was now embroiled within, yet he had always kept his ears out for any mention of the Grand Inquisitor of the Empire. Had his contacts been less focused on the war, Aryn may have understood at that point that Ice had left the Empire, yet it was the belief of many of his contacts, and so by that point, the belief of Aryn - that Varik's retreat to Eadu was to establish a new holding for the Empire, and a new series of inquisitors to face against the Alliance.

Still, Aryn was not one to commit based on assumptions alone, there was still very little that Aryn understood Varik's new plans, and with most of the SIS' people focused on other fronts of the war, he needed to take some of the investigation into his own hands. What Aryn had learned was that one of Varik's agents had been travelling across Wild Space to planets strong in the force. He had managed to track her now to Pillio, the force echoed from the world, both the dark and the light, and it was unsurprising to Aryn that Varik had sent one of his agents here shortly after he had touched down on the surface.

Brief research into the planet had revealed enough details of its history, an ancient emperor of the Galactic Empire had taken an interest in the world, so the fact that an agent of the Empire took interest was no surprise to the Jedi as he climbed down from his X-wing, taking in a breath as he moved up towards the edge of the ridge he'd landed on. He had tracked the ship of the agent down here to the surface, and knew it wasn't far off, now he just had to be ready, reaching down and taking his lightsaber from his belt as he began to make his climb down, in search of his target.

This planet was strong in the Force.

Sitting atop a stone arch, The Guardian simply meditated, feeling and connecting with each lifeform around her, be it flora or fauna. This was indeed the peace she had been searching for throughout Wild Space, or at least, a fraction of it. Something deep within Inyri's soul let out a satisfied breath that it had been holding for a long, long time. Maybe now, she could relax. Just for a second, not even a minute... No Draxites, no Imperials, and no distractions keeping her from this precious moment. Perhaps some direly needed self-reflection could be accomplished now, without the weight of a war bearing down on her.

But like ripples in a pond, a foreign body disturbed this serene environment. It was easy to feel him, even from the distance; The conflict is what drew her senses. It stuck out against the apathetic landscape and energy of the world like a sore thumb.

This time a proper sigh left the weary warrior. Even at the ends of the galaxy, there was always someone or something seeking to kick over sandcastles.

Inyri made no motion to move. There was no need to be crafty, or to plot an ambush, or to even run away. Whoever had come to kick over her sandcastle would not be doing so easily.

It was easy to follow the call in the force that had brought Aryn here, the focus of Inyri's meditation called out to him, strangely even more-so than it did among most individuals. Aryn called to others through the force, but he could easily feel those strong in it around him, and was similarly drawn to him. Yet, the connection he felt to Inyri as he drew nearer to her was strange, more unique than any other he had felt before as he eventually laid eyes upon the force user. The force was curious as it flowed within her, not inherent dark or light, in fact he noticed it was almost an eerie reflection of Ice's own connection with the force, but he knew well enough that did not mean she was not a servant of darkness, she was likely still his enemy.

Leaping up onto the arch, he landed close enough to her, keeping his grip firmly on his lightsaber hilt as he looked over at the meditating figure. He studied her for a moment or two, nothing she wore seemed to indicate Imperial trappings, but still, he had seen enough Inquisitors to know they did not necessarily wear an exact uniform. "As a representative of the Galactic Alliance, I am hereby placing you under arrest for questioning." He said plainly, hoping but knowing the woman would likely not go without a fight as he held his hand out, trying to use the force to pull the lightsaber from her belt and into his hand.

Galactic Alliance?

That drew Inyri's attention. As far as she knew, the Sovereignty and the Alliance were on neutral terms -- Not hostile, but not exactly friendly either. Perhaps something had happened while she had been gone... There was no time to dwell on what could have occurred to warrant an Alliance representative tracking her down.

Her own probe of the mysterious Force user wishing to arrest her left Inyri perplexed, but she hid it well. As he had approached, the feeling had grown stronger; it was unexpectedly warm-feeling from an enemy, one that harkened to gentler things that she couldn't think about right now. It certainly didn't vibe of the impending combat, but there was no helping that. And, to be fair, this was self-defense. She had zero intention of being hauled off to the Core worlds.

"It is too beautiful of a day for this..." Before Aryn could snatch her lightsaber with the Force, it was in her hand and the Knight had sprung to her feet from her sitting position, the pale white blade ignited as if part of the same movement. It hummed in the air, flipped to a reverse grip as the lithe Guardian began to slide into a rather foreign posture, her left hand sliding back into the folds of her plain robes, "Are you sure you have the right person? I can't recall anything I or my faction could have done to offend yours to take such lengths."

The second the lightsaber was in the hands of the woman, Aryn activated his own, taking a more defensive stance as he watched her closely. He narrowed his gaze somewhat as she spoke, so, she did not understand directly who she was working under. Aryn knew of the Sovereignty, but the information he had received suggested the organization was more of a splinter group, or perhaps an effort by the Empire to set up a vassal state under Ice's command. It made sense that this woman had no idea of the reality of her situation. Regardless, her order could not be too separate from the Empire, and he still needed to take her in to learn what he needed to about Ice's new organization.

Keeping his lightsaber leveled in a defensive motion, Aryn narrowed his gaze on the woman as he adjusted his form, studying the woman's own. If she had been directly trained by Varik, he would know something of how to face her down, but he would not allow himself to take his guard down by expecting too much. "I'll give you this chance to lay down your weapon, we don't need to part as enemies." He said, his tone clearly stating that this was a last warning, he would make no effort to kill the woman, but he would at least need to disarm her if she did not willingly give in. For now however, he remained in a defensive stance, just in case she took the initiative and struck first.

The disgruntled Guardian didn't reply with words, but with action -- lashing out in a swipe with her white blade. Flipping the easily-manipulated hilt in her hands she brought it up in an uppercut motion, clearly intending to create more space between them rather than directly attack. The expression on her face was one of barely contained distaste, as if offended he had even thought to disturb her for this.

Beneath her robe, she had her free curled around the hilt of her elecro sword, prepared to rip it free of her hidden sheath. It wouldn't be able to parry a lightsaber, by any means -- but it was still highly energized, and one swipe could disable her attacker without serious injury, much like a taser. If it came down to it, and her admittedly awkward skills in lightsaber combat couldn't hold him off, the plan was to use that to aid in her escape. Hopefully.

But something had rocked Inyri's emotional boat, and she didn't like it one bit. A brief scowl disturbed her hesitantly neutral face, irritated -- The Force felt different now, as though it had risen by an octave, and this was a brutal response to the odd, comfortable sense she was picking up even still from the Alliance representative.

Aryn's response and movement was instantaneous. He had expected the Guardian would attack first if she wouldn't give up and come with him, he had of course been hoping for the latter, but didn't think it was particularly likely. Bringing his saber down, his blue blade connected with her white one, parrying and sending her attack back downward as he did dash back for a moment. Seeing her free hand within her robe, he made a clear note not to forget it was there. He anticipated she had a shoto as well, not exactly correct, but it would allow him to adjust his stance correctly to suspect the second weapon as he moved to close their distance again.

Probing the woman's defence, Aryn made a series of quick slashes to both sides of her body as well as high and low, intending to keep some degree of pressure on her even though he didn't intend for any of the attacks to break through her guard. He needed to study this woman and see how she fought, before he could establish whether or not she was a direct student of Ice's. What was curious to Aryn however was the air of uncertainty that lingered in the force between the two of them. Confusion and exasperation flowed through the woman far more than anger, and the connection which flowed between them only seemed to be getting stronger as the two engaged in this combat, it was strange, unexpected...

Sometimes, the Force was really quite annoying.

Inyri knew if her master had heard those words, she would be rolling in her grave. Regardless, it was true, and even truer in this instance. It was exceptionally hard to focus on assaulting an enemy who didn't read like an enemy.

Managing to almost clumsily parry his attacks with her blade, Inyri ripped the electrically charged blade from it's hidden sheath during a pause of the fight, activating it in a highly trained motion. The electro sword crackled and spat energy as lightning raced along the durasteel blade and she held it with expertise in her left hand, angled away from her to keep the dangerous current away from her body. To describe her fighting style as erratic wouldn't begin to scratch the surface; it would be unlike any traditional fighting style normally taught to Jedi and Inquisitors alike. The Kage were secretive with their techniques, and while they translated poorly to the medium of lightsaber combat, they did manage to produce an exceptionally chaotic artistry on her part.

But she wasn't on the offensive. It was clear now that he was just testing her, feeling out her abilities, and she could only imagine what he was like at full strength. Another scowl crossed her face, this really was not turning out in her favor and that was obviously not helping the deep emotions of confusion swelling inside of the Grey Knight, who was not even attempting to mask them under her normally calm exterior. Gritting her teeth, she finally broke from the defensive pattern, this time trying to swipe low with the electro sword while distracting with the saber. She was aiming for his lower body in an attempt to sunder him with its taser-like effects, which could put even the strongest worgian into an unwanted catnap. It was an all-or-nothing attack, and her only hope to find a long enough lapse in fighting to escape him.

And there it was. Aryn dashed back a step or two as he saw the electric blade pulled from Inyri's robes, it wasn't exactly a traditional weapon for a force user, not a vibrosword that would halt his blade, if he successfully parried the blade he figured he'd easily damage it. Still, he had to avoid it, he figured a single hit would put him down. As the blade swung low, Aryn made no effort to block or parry it, instead leaping up and over the attack with a burst of energy in the force, sending ripples through the arch they stood on and briefly shaking the cavern before he landed on the other side of her.

Keeping his blade up and ready, he expected a second attack, and it only took a second for him to realize that it wasn't one that would be coming from the woman he faced. Gaze shifting behind her, he saw as the stone and amber began to shift, coral pushed aside as a large insectoid creature began to burst through. It began to rear up, wings fluttering as it went to leap down upon her. Aryn moved quick as he made a quick slash with his saber, far too high to have ever been considered an attack upon her as it carved clean through the insectoid creature which burst into orange goo upon contact with the blue blade. Seconds later, more and more insectoids continued to burst forth from cracks in the stone walls and the ground.

"Well, this is mildly irritating. Truce?"

Inyri had been far too consumed with the feelings of this outsider to have even begun detecting the wildlife. Mentally, she kicked herself. But even as, admittedly, he saved her from its assault, she still had that look. The look of someone not entirely pleased with their circumstances, and unafraid to show it, "I could think of a lot more things about this situation that are irritating." Her comment contained the unmistakable edge of someone truly done with their problems, but she still gave him a definitive nod of agreement to his proposal. As one of the creatures lunged at Aryn from under the arch, having been shaken free by his jump, a slice of her white blade sent it spiraling down to the lower ground with severed wings. Sparing a brief thought to reach out around the pair with her senses, her expression froze in one of strangled surprise at what else she felt.

Kriff.

"There are a great deal of them, you realize?" She hissed quietly in his direction, easily detecting more than two dozen more in the immediate area, waking up from their camouflaged slumber. It was almost like...

Her eyes widened and Inyri's gaze sharply turned to Aryn's face, any petty grievances gone and replaced with stoic realization instead, "This is their nest."

Ignoring the snarky comments of the woman he was now back-to-back with, Aryn watched the insectoid creatures as they continued to reveal themselves, spawning forth from the ground as if they had been born from the earth itself. He nodded simply as she questioned if he was aware of them all, Aryn could feel each of the creatures, all of them were clearly agitated by the presence of the two, but what he hadn't put together was the words that came out of her next. Freezing for a moment, Aryn glanced over his shoulder in an incredulous manner. "Why were you meditating in their nest!?" He snapped as if she had clearly made the poor choice of the two of them, however he didn't have much more time to react before he was thrust into the battle at hand.

Insects flew towards them, but Aryn moved quickly as he made a series of slashes to cut down the first three bugs that made an effort to attack him. His grip adjusted somewhat mid-swing into a reverse grip, his hands held up in a defensive manner with the reverse-held blade still in front of him. As a few more approached, he continued to swing his blade and cut them down, but progressively more and more continued to make their way towards the two in waves, pouring from the walls and ground as they made their way towards the two who'd intruded upon their hive. "Any bright ideas, Inquisitor?"

"They didn't seem to mind it at the time, but it seemed like a brute charging in like a drunken bantha was enough to get them t--" Inyri was cut off as two of the little bastards flew at her, and this time her shorter blade whipped around to smack one down, as her lightsaber carved the other up. There was a sickening cracking noise as the electricity arced from the electro sword to the bug, much like an insect zapper, and the body was left a little charred before she deftly kicked it off the stone archway to the stone floor, leaving a nice splatter of guts and gore from its rough landing below.

Before she could continue her train of thought, something he had called her caught her ear and she tilted her head, almost incredulously up at him, "Wait. Inquisitor? You think I'm an Inquisitor? As in an Imperial Inquisitor?" If they hadn't been almost overrun, she would have laughed at such an idea. Guardians and Inquisitors... She supposed she could see how a mix-up could occur. Even if the words sounded nothing alike. And their goals were completely misaligned. Yes. Indeed. Quite the mishearing of words.

It was hard to suppress the sudden spring of anger rising in her, but for now, that beast had to be tamed and channelled. With noticeably more force behind her blow, she struck down another creature, relishing briefly in the greedy satisfaction it brought her to see the snow-white lightsaber arc through the shell and soft underside of it, like fire through ice. Almost immediately she felt shameful for those feelings, a conflict of emotions storming in her now as she fought to keep her frustration with their 'mix-up' in check while also ensuring they were well-defended from the swarm.

His actual inquiry had been briefly lost on her before she managed to regain a splinter of focus, pressing her lips together in thought as she recalled he had said something before seemingly insulting her with that title, "Strategically relocate?" Inyri suggested, but the meaning behind those words wasn't hard to figure out. Run?

To say Aryn was confused at Inyri's insulted tone would've been an understatement. He could sense no insult or any lie in her words as he heard them, only genuine confusion. Her misunderstanding before was one thing, but this was a different thing entirely, she seemed to believe she was entirely different to the Imperials and their Inquisition. Had he truly been mistaken? Had his old rival Ice truly left the Empire behind to take on this new endeavour? Was this Sovereignty really so different? These were thoughts Aryn didn't have the time to focus on, but they still rushed through his mind as he fought back wave after wave of insectoids flying towards the two of them.

Her suggestion didn't offer much assistance at the time, the two of them were in a particularly awkward and exposed position, and with the flow of insectoids only increasing, the two of them were soon enough surrounded by the creatures, and would no doubt be overrun in no time. They would need a large enough clearing to quickly escape the cavern, then they could properly speak about the reality of things. Ideas ran through his head, before Aryn settled upon one. "Put your weapons away." As he spoke, the Jedi deactivated his lightsaber and placed it down upon his belt, closing his eyes as he held a hand up and reached out.

He could feel each and every one of the creatures around him, angered and confused, each had been struck by a misunderstanding similar to his own and Inyri's, they were all a reflection of one-another, and sometimes it just took a simple explanation to cease hostilities. He tapped into that connection, focusing upon the creatures as he presented himself openly, peace and calm flowing through him as many of the angry chittering began to cease, the bugs remained but all kept their distance, even beginning to part somewhat as they created a small path back towards the entrance of the cavern.

Pillio, Outskirts of the Emperor's Observatory, 12:34 PM | Empty Gold

At first Inyri only gave him an are you kidding me? look, hesitation in her eyes. But, he hadn't been lying up until now, and that feeling, that connection, had only intensified when they had been forced on the same team by circumstance. In one move both her lightsaber and electro sword were sheathed, returned to their place of importance beneath her cloak. Trust was a two-way street, and he'd disarmed first. It was only fair she reciprocated.

It was distractingly easy to feel the invisible towlines between them all now, the Force flowing through the canyon nest like the channels of a canal overflooding with positive energy. Aryn's influence was calming their anger, all of their anger, and even for a moment hers as she reached out briefly, touching upon their own, strange tether before pulling away as to not distract him from his work. Their enemies, it seemed, didn't take much convincing to return to their hibernating state, they had only really been protecting their home. A twinge of apologetic embarrassment passed Inyri by as she considered that; they had been the intruders, who had so ruthlessly struck down members of this coven. They were just mindless monsters, yes, but truly how mindless could they be, if they could understand their complex emotions through the Force?

She waited until all of the furious critters had been relaxed before glancing back over to Aryn, her voice lower as if to avoid 'waking' them again, "...Do we just walk out, now?" Looking to the path created for them with mildly raised hackles, Inyri didn't wait for his answer before she hopped down from the archway. The Force slowed her descent as to avoid snapping her bones like toothpicks, and she briefly looked over the placated enemies around her on the ground floor before peering up again. It took a moment for her brain to catch up to what had been a subconscious action on her part, one that again filled her with the bewilderment concerning how at east she felt around her adversary. But from Aryn's perspective from up top, it was clear what she was doing -- Waiting for him to join her in leaving, and she wore an expression of ever-growing impatience about it, too.

Aryn didn't say anything to the woman as he focused on the connection between himself in the creatures. Their link was a delicate one, and required almost all of the Jedi's focus as he carefully leapt down from the arch and landed gently on his feet. Connections to a single creature weren't too difficult for the Jedi, but reaching out and linking his mind with each and every one of the insects within the hive was straining his use of the force as he began to make his way towards Inyri, ignoring her impatience in both look and words as he continued to move out towards the entrance of the cavern. As he did so, he turned back towards the creatures and let out another single message in the force, watching as they all began to fly back into their hibernation.

Letting out a tired sigh, Aryn lowered his arm, feeling as none of the bugs offered any further resistance towards the two of them, and would allow both of the force users to pass in peace. Shaking his head, Aryn turned back towards Inyri and crossed his arms over his chest, making no move for the lightsaber on his belt, as if the two had not been engaged in combat only a short time ago. "So, about that little misunderstanding..." He prompted, as if hoping she would offer some further explanation as to where exactly he had gone wrong in his assumptions about her.

Pillio, Outskirts of the Emperor's Observatory, 12:34 PM | Empty Gold

"Little misunderstanding." She commented offhandedly under her breath as he started to ask, shaking her head in mild bewilderment after Aryn finished speaking. Her voice seemed to drip with brief hostility as she gave him a snappy answer, rearing her head back a little, "I am not an Inquisitor. I am a Guardian, in service to the Sovereignty and all she protects. The way I see it, you are the Inquisitor here." At once, it was clear she regretted saying that. The pendulum inside had swung too far towards the dark in her renewed frustration, something that needed immediate correction lest she veers too deeply into its depths.

"That was... too much. Apologies. We should start at the beginning, if we're not foes. Inyri Takan, Knight." She extended her right hand to Aryn, a friendly little grin on her face now to make up for her earlier outburst, "I gather you're with the Alliance?"

Aryn raised an eyebrow curiously as he listened to Inyri explain herself, clarifying well enough for Aryn that the Inquisitors and Guardians were certainly not as similar as he had initially expected them to be. At her snapping insisting that he was the inquisitor, he couldn't help but smirk, clearly finding amusement more than insult in her spat, and certainly seeming amused at her quick u-turn as she caught herself. Considering her rapid insistence to avoid her aggressive feelings, Aryn could feel only reassured that he had been the one at fault.

"There's no need to apologize, you are right, I was clearly over-zealous in my actions, though Ice and I have had... tenuous relations in the past." He explained, listening as the woman went to introduce herself. Holding a hand out, he firmly grasped her own, giving it as hake as he watched her closely. Nodding his head as she queried him, he smiled and gave another firm nod. "Aryn Teth, Supreme Commander of the Alliance Military." He introduced himself, using the overt and well-known title as if it were nothing.

Pillio, Outskirts of the Emperor's Observatory, 12:34 PM | Empty Gold

Inyri visibly paused as Aryn stated his title, colour briefly draining from her face, "Oh."

A part of her was oddly proud. Important enough to warrant him coming all the way to find her? Quickly letting go of his hand, she tucked both of hers behind her back in a hasty gesture that clearly denoted an awkward sort of respect, but her voice included a noticeable stutter as she replied to him, "W-well, It's nice to meet you. Supreme Commander. Perhaps you'd consider keeping the war out of our sectors, then."

That last part was some sort of half-hearted attempt at levity, judging by her expression after she finished. For a brief second, a smile appeared, then quickly buried itself back under an emotionless mask that seemed far too comfortable on her face. Swallowing a dry gulp of air she nodded a few times to herself and walked past Aryn a few steps, before turning on her heel to face him, ahead on the trail, "While you're here... Jedi... I suppose you could 'tag along'," The way she said Jedi was off, like the word was a challenge to say, but she persisted none-the-less, raising a finger to indicate she wasn't done speaking, "But, I have a condition to my company."

"Don't try and arrest me again, please. Now, I was, after a noon-day meditation, going to see if the old Imperial Observatory had anything left of it. If that'd interest you, that is- I suppose you could just leave." Oddly enough, she wasn't sure if she was fond of the idea of parting so soon.

Aryn found himself somewhat amused at the woman's reaction to learning who he was. He had grown used to many different kinds of reactions to his presence or when he was introduced to people, from surprise, to boot-licking, but up until then he had really never encountered much in the way of what he could only describe as star-struck awe. At her attempt at levity he did chuckle, seemingly amused by it as he nodded his head, shrugging his shoulders. "i'll do my best not to spread it anywhere I can avoid doing so." He did appreciate that she seemed to have forgiven his confusion somewhat quickly, though Aryn himself made a mental note to pay closer attention to the Sovereignty in future once he had returned to Coruscant.

"I will try to avoid arresting you, though it is in fact that observatory in question which made me initially think you were one of the Inquisition." He explained, crossing his arms over his chest as he peered past her briefly back into the cavern. "I suppose we could look into it if you are still so inclined to, though I may need to focus harder on keeping those bugs off us if we are indeed planning on going back within." He said with a gentle smile, not seeming too averse to the idea, however.

Pillio, Outskirts of the Emperor's Observatory, 12:34 PM | Empty Gold

"It's not like that," She protested, peering into the cave simultaneously with him, "I am not in search of evil powers or relics. Simply... Walking the path, I suppose. My master spoke of this place on occasion, well, not this place, but the observatories, in general, across the galaxy. It felt right to seek at least one of them out before I returned to Sovereignty space." For a moment, a distant look appeared on Inyri's face. One of memories and nostalgia. It disappeared quickly at his bug comment, tilting her head back to look at him once more, "I could always help. I know a thing or two about influencing."

"And, about Ice... Well, his actions have earned my respect." That seemed to be all he would get out of her about her leader, as she was already heading back down in the cavern, with the silent footfalls of a trained, stealthy warrior. Clearing her mind and heart of any conflicting emotions, she let the numb and cold set into her very bones before she spoke very quietly. Naturally, Aryn would hear it as though she was right there, speaking into his ear, "I'll take one side, you the other."

Something about her tone almost seemed challenging, briefly playful -- As if she was seeing if she could do a better job than him. She didn't seem like the competitive type on a first glance, but the cheeky smile she shot him before beginning the difficult task of ensuring the insectoids remained asleep clearly betrayed her thoughts. Humming a gentle tune ever-so-softly, her attention was now fully fixated on ensuring all of the hibernating creatures on the left side of the canyon remained blissfully ignorant of their movements.
