RIVERSIDE SHACK

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create Mishel’s humble shack where she crafts her lightsabers and lives when she’s not at the Bastion (Virgillia) or Sanctuary (Monastery).
  • Canon: N/A

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Mishel’s Riverside Shack
  • Classification: Homestead / Workshop
  • Location: Virgillia 7
  • Affiliation: Mishel Ren
  • Accessibility: Sitting on the edge of the Glaspre river, the shack’s “balcony,” faces the river allowing Mishel to lower herself down onto a small kayak, and again to pull herself up. The door faces the Ysalamir forest. The wooden doors are opened through a simple use of the force or if she’s feeling particularly active she’ll reach up and pull them open to get in. There’s an off beaten path from the main road between Nialan and Siverra that leads to the general area of where her shack is.
  • Security: There really isn’t much for security, being in the Ysalamir forest alone is a significant risk as any number of creatures might kill you. Still, Mishel didn’t put much stock into security as she was sure she could fend for herself.
  • Description: The shack was built by Mishel before her disability and then modified with help from a local carpenter and blacksmith after her disability. Everything within the small shack is easily accessible to her, she has a small cot made from strong leather and wood. Mishel easily rolls in and out of it, with a small cooking spit out on the balcony with fishing poles and traps on the ready to help bring up fresh food. Her workbench, supplies and tools are opposite of her cot she works with a small set of portable fluorescent lamps.
  • Her workbench sits on the floor with a set of racks and shelves crafted for her at either side of it where her work glasses and tools are hung and kept. Outside of her home rests storage of liquid (mostly ale and whiskey) and a set of pots for keeping fresh herbs and some vegetables.
  • Back inside the home there’s a small holotable right as you walk in. It sits in front of her cot and allows for her to communicate with the outside world. Opposite of this is a small crate where she keeps her fresh linens and clothes. Clothes that need to be washed are placed in a pile behind her cot, while underneath her cot she keeps basic supplies (food, water, and repair kits and a med pack) stuffed in smaller boxes. She has two blankets one made from hide and the other she brought with her from the Bastion.
  • This riverside shack has three and a half walls, the half wall faces the river and a small window. The window is above her workbench, with the full walls where her cot rests and for the door of course. Shack also has an open roof, the open spaces allows for Mishel to gaze out at the stars and look up to see passing birds.

POINTS OF INTEREST
Glaspre River rolls by her shack offering a spectacular view of the Rapachi Mountains on one end and then Kriashae Valley on the other end. Ysalamir forest also offers up a great canopy, and a view of wildlife as well. There is a small stop that cannot be seen, but when she wishes to go into town she calls (from holo) for a ride. Typically a beast drawn cart gets her and takes her into either Siverra or Nialan, she takes this method for the days she can’t be bothered to lower herself down to her boat.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Mishel built the shack as her own fortress of solitude, less fortress more solitude. The bastion can often become pricked with the egos of her brothers and sisters. Overladen with the flow of newcomers who can be overwhelming for Mishel. Mishel has some social anxiety and often must be coached on how to interact with others. And a lot of times she doesn’t want to interact with people necessarily. She just prefers to be on her own and so when she comes here, she feels at ease and at peace with her thoughts. The young vat-grown Ren built this before Mustafar and since then has increasingly spent more time here. She built it from the woods around her and often walked into Siverra to purchase hinges, nails, and other house building items. After her disability, she had to call for help to remake her fortress of solitude so that it would be easier for her to work.
