OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Revenant Industries.
  • Model: N/A.
  • Affiliation: Closed-Market, Revenant Industries, Iron Fist Consortium.
  • Modularity: None.
  • Production: Limited
  • Material: Durasteel, duraplast, standard personal cloaking device parts, combad de ionizers, Taozin nodule.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Grants invisiblity.
  • Powerful battery.
  • Taozin nodule makes Force-based detection difficult by blurring and clouding Force senses.
  • Combat de-ionizers.
Strengths:
  • The item renders the wearer invisible to the naked eye.
  • The item has good range and even covers the ultraviolet spectrum.
  • The device's battery is quite potent, enabling it to function for an extended period of time.
  • Taozin nodule blurs and clouds Force senses so that the wearer cannot be easily detected via preternatural meas.
  • The integrated de-ionisers give the item a degree of resistance against EMP and ion.
Weaknesses:
  • The cloak is not perfect. Like with any cloaking device, there's an oscillation effect. This makes it possible to detect a wearer who's not careful. It is virtually impossible to maintain the cloak while running, though training can help.
  • While it conceals the wearer from physical sight, the item does not nullify the noise they generate. The wearer can still be heard if they're not careful. This makes running problematic. Sonar and magnetic detection is still possible.
  • For those who have been exposed to Taozin nodules and are familiar with how they work, detection of the wearer may be easier. Moreover, the nodule also weakens the wearer's Force senses, if they're a Force-user themselves.
  • The item cannot take a lot of damage. It is solid enough, but would not resist blaster fire or high-calibre bullets. One shot is enough to break the casing. The upper back or chest, where the item is generally placed, are easy areas to hit.
  • As a tradeoff for the stronger battery and nodule, the item is heavier than comparable personal cloaking devices. The increased weight also makes magnetic detection easier.
  • Friendly fire can occur...since your allies cannot see you. This can be awkward.
DESCRIPTION

Personal cloaking devices have existed for millennia. They were already popular among infiltrators during the days of Revan and Malak and the Great Galactic War. Though modernisations have taken place over the past thousands of years, the essential principles have remained the same. After settng up her own, morally dubious business, Enyo decided to make her own. The Terminatrix is not able to deploy vast legions, unlike her mirror Siobhan Kerrigan, and thus is more focused on small elite forces that can carry out rapid strikes, hit hard and then vanish. Undoubtedly such a device would be useful for her final strike against her hated creators, while also providing her with an item she could sell on the market.

The result was a device that could resist wear and tear, and not only cloak the user from sight, but to a certain degree hide them from Force-based detection. The latter was accomplished by hunting Taozin in the lower levels of Coruscant. It is an area Enyo knows well since that's where her crime syndicate/paramilitary organisation, the Iron Fist Consortium, was started. Furthermore, she was familiar with how Taozin amulets functioned from her time with Archangel. After acquiring suitable specimen and removing their skin, she incorporated the nodules. As a result, the item generates a blurry, cloudy, fuzzy sensation that makes it difficult to detect the wearer via Force senses. Furthermore, as demonstrated by Darth Maul during his pursuit of Lorn Pavan, Force tracking skills can help detect the user of a Taozin amulet or similar device, so the coverage is not comprehensive.

As a tradeoff, the wearer must also accept a diminished ability to utilise their own preternatural senses, if they happen to be a Force-user. Moreover, the item is heavier than the standard personal cloaking device. The heavier weight allows a longer battery time. Enyo considers this trade acceptable since it is tailored towards cybernetic beings like her. The item is well-crafted, but not meant to be exposed to combat. Well-aimed blaster shots will pierce it and cause it to give up the ghost. Furthermore, it cannot do anything to cancel out sound. So if the wearer is not careful, then being invisible will do them little good. The complexity of cloaking devices limits their production and it is not different with this one.
