Military Information

Vyr'ar

Emperor of the Unknown
Nothing is held in greater esteem to the Grysk people than their army and navy: for warfare has dominated the culture of these savage people. And as such a vast majority of the population falls under the structure of one of the military branches, these vast hosts of warriors form the foundation of the Hegemony’s society: for there is no greater test of strength than participating in one of the many Grysk Expansionary Wars.

This is not to say only Grysk are allowed to join, any warrior able to prove both their strength and loyalty will be accepted into the armed forces, a bizarre change from the usual deep rooted speciesism of the Grysk. A warrior is a warrior, regardless of species. This is not to say it’s not harder for other species to get any worth of rank: but it brings only the strongest alien species to serve in the military command of the Hegemony.

Grand Army of the Grysk

Many Grysk will end up in the Grand Army, this vast host of black-armored warriors make up the majority of any invasion force. Toting Lightning Guns and viciously curves blades the Warriors of the Grysk walk under the banners of various Warrior-Clans within the Grand Army. A strict military hierarchy exists within the Grand Army, though like most Grysk organizations a test of strength can most assuredly gain someone a higher place in the hierarchy.

Grand Subjugator: The overall leader of the army, with only the Gryzar himself as his superior. Commanding the vast swathes of the Grysk with ruthless efficiency, the Grand Subjugator is a veteran of many battles against many foes and has staked their claim to the position with a river of blood: like all good Grysk in power.

High Subjugator: The handful of military leaders who fall under the Grand Subjugator, this pseudo-council allows for the commands of the highest ranking Grysk leaders to go far and wide, and for military talent to not be wasted on single engagements and all hunt to be the equal (or better) of the current Grand Subjugator. For the High Subjugators are sworn in their duty to watch for any true weakness within the Grand Subjugator, and for the strongest of them to slay their former leader and take the position for themselves. A brutal and bloody succession.

Subjugator: The Subjugators can be considered some of the true war-leaders of the Grysk, whilst those in higher positions strike out at the most powerful and dangerous targets that only the best of the best can beat, the Subjugators gather the many leaders under their command and go to expand the empire wherever they can reach. For many, this is considered the top of the military hierarchy for merely a handful of Subjugators can ascend to the rank of High Subjugator

Warlord: The leader of any particular army, the Warlords command the various minor invasion forces used to take down a single world compared to entire systems, a proper sector or system wide invasion fleet could contain a dozen various warlords and those who fall under their command.

High Chieftain: Whilst a Chieftain may be able to fiercely command the loyalty of his underlings, it is the High Chieftain who can bring even the hot headed Chieftains under their command. The High Chieftains are those Grysk who can bring multiple Clans under their command: High Chieftain is often a short lived rank, as those who can reach it are often quickly on the path to Warlord.

Chieftain: Any good Grysk leader begins to develop a Cult of Personality around them, and the Chieftains are those generals who have succeeded in becoming icons to the warriors under their command: be it by love or fear. The Chieftains then make their proper Clan within the army, holding their personal colors and banners high as they wage war. This simple distinction from the General is a major one, as Grysk in power are in tune with the idea that not all strength is physical, and the ability to rally their kin is a strength that only true leaders have.

General: Now commanding proper military forces, the General is the foundation on which all Grysk engagements are built upon. Commanding a mixed force of armor and infantry they push forward to claim glory and honor so that they made ascend to the rank of Chieftain in most instances.

Commander: The middling of the standard military commanders, the commanders lead a well rounded force of some infantry with armor support and end up serving in a wide variety of roles: be it a garrison, a small scale assault force, or anything else that lies in between.

Captain: The first rank of command within the Army, commanding a small amount of soldiers when going out to battle. Generally speaking the first step for greatness when it comes to those hunting for power within the army.

Swordling: The start of any warrior, be they Grysk or Alien (of course unless they’ve proven themselves well beyond standard, those are some of the rare instances though). Generally hazed and bullied by those higher on the totem pole, the swordling is the en masse warriors of the Hegemony and within their own vast ranks exist another hierarchy of how long one has stayed a swordling. A hierarchy of command always obnoxiously present within Grysk society.

Grand Host of the Void

There is a deep seated respect for the Grysk’s Navy, for while anyone can wield a lightning gun and rush into war and slaughter face to face: it takes a special sort of strength that few can muster properly to actually command the vast hordes of Grysk warships that herald the expansion of their empire. As such those Admirals and Fleetmasters within the Hegemony are given the uttermost respect, and their accomplishments are well immortalized in history: for the victories in the void are the victories that allow the Hegemony to continue its existence.

Void-Lord: The leader of the vast Grysk fleet, the lord of the void is given the most respect out of all present within the military of the Hegemony: commanding a vast horde of warships into enemy territory the Voidlord always serves as the spearhead of a major Grysk expansionary assault. Allowed to control the strongest warship within the Hegemony, and none would dare say otherwise: even the Gryzar.

Fleetmaster: Similar to the High Subjugators of the Army, the Fleetmasters are the leaders of the Warfleets that head out into the void to claim entire Sectors for the Hegemony: and some have done it before in the ancient days of the Hegemony. Leading dozens of warships in great sun-bloating flotillas.

High Admiral: Usually the peak of many careers, the High Admirals are the third and final wave of the proper Grysk Expansionary Wars: unleashing vast fleets, whilst they are not as not seemingly unending like those commanded by the highest in the naval hierarchy they are more than capable of bringing entire systems into submission during these great times of war.

Admiral: When reaching the rank of Admiral, most Grysk now enter the proper offensive sphere or are now allowed to defend their homeworld and the worlds around it.

Commodore: Much like how the commander is the middling of army, the commodore is the middling of the Navy. Able to command something that actually resembles a real fleet, commodores are the part of the hierarchy that can be deployed in both offensive and defensive missions.

Captain: The most common naval commander of the Grysk’s fleet, commanding usually a single cruiser and a handful of escorts a large array of captains are used to form up any properly sized Grysk fleet.

Ensign: The lowest ranked member of the Navy, the Ensigns are the chaff of the navy. Just filling up the various warships or commanding the smallest of Grysk military vessels.
