PG-13

It was a cold and desperate season on Bastion when Mia was born. The Plague had spread to the corners of the galaxy, and focus had been diverted from incessant warring to defending the uninfected. Too bad her parents worked in a factory and in the fleet abroad.

Orphaned at 16, Mia began her long journey as a vagabond, scavenging the streets for work and food, or simply just sitting down and begging. At 18, she settled for prostitution, making her living off her body and not much else. But a living and a life are not one in the same.

While streetwalking and indulging others' intents of debauchery was no easy job on the body or the spirit, Mia did have plenty of downtime to develop other skills. She found herself to have the touch of an artist in various facets, collecting knowledge of and practicing the arts of song, dance, mimicry, illusionist magic, trick shooting, and fortune-telling. By age 21, she was practically a one-woman circus.

But her heart was weighed down by her homeworld, knowing it only as a place representative of tragedy in her life. She wanted to leave and be her own woman, whatever life that may entail. She knew what she could do and do well. There was nothing to hold her back--except money.

Traveling the galaxy on credit initially, the homeless entertainer established herself in artistry circles, but also launched into a more 'practical' lifestyle when the going was rough. A notable trick-shooter, Mia was able to pass for a crew member of pirate vessels in order to obtain room and fare. And while prostitution remained in her spectrum of jobs, she began to emphasize the visual and 'spiritual' arts more as she had fewer worries with more-or-less solid financial opportunities in ship raiding.
