Character Meri Vale

Silent One

Well-Known Member
MERI VALE
Real Name: Merindai Tiravel

Age: 15
Species: Epicanthix
Gender: Female
Height: 158 cm
Weight: 49 kg
Force Sensitive: Yes, unknown

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Meri is a slender, soft-featured Epicanthix girl with a quiet, thoughtful presence. She stands at 158 cm with narrow shoulders and a delicate build, often giving the impression of someone younger than she is. Her hair is a deep chestnut-black, usually tied back in a simple braid or ponytail, while her eyes are a smoky gray that reflect light like polished stone—startlingly expressive despite her soft demeanor.

Her features are gentle: a heart-shaped face, soft cheekbones, and a subtle melancholy to her eyes. She dresses in muted, practical clothing—soft tunics, fitted trousers, and worn boots—never wanting to draw attention. She moves quietly, with unconscious refinement learned in childhood, but often tries to mask her noble posture.

A faint scar marks her right shoulder from the night her family home burned, and a small healed burn rests on her left forearm. Sleeves usually hide both.

INVENTORY

• Worn traveler's satchel
• Small data-slate
• Notebook filled with sketches, symbols, and linguistic notes
• Chalk/stylus for marking ruins
• Folded star-map fragment (a keepsake from her mother)
• Simple cloak or shawl
• Basic survival supplies (canteen, cloth wraps, thread, and needle)

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Meri is quiet, polite, and deeply observant. Brilliant but cautious, she hides her intelligence behind soft manners and lowered eyes, afraid that drawing attention could put her in danger. She processes the world through patterns—linguistic structures, architecture, and the subtle shifts in conversation—making her seem older in thought but younger emotionally.

Crowds overwhelm her. Raised voices freeze her. She prefers ruins, libraries, and quiet spaces where the world feels predictable. Despite her fear, she is gentle, empathetic, and brave in small, peaceful ways. She values knowledge, compassion, and survival through subtlety rather than strength.

She believes:
• Knowledge must be treated with respect
• Trust is precious and dangerous
• Cruelty follows patterns—predictable ones
• Survival sometimes requires invisibility
• Kindness matters, even if she rarely expects it for herself

STRENGTHS

• Linguistic Savant
Meri has an extraordinary intuitive grasp of languages—ancient, alien, and symbolic. She can reconstruct meaning from fragments, recognize grammar patterns instantly, and mimic accents naturally—pure intelligence, not Force ability.

• Spatial / Architectural Intuition
She intuitively understands structure. Meri can visualize rooms, ruins, corridors, and devices with uncanny clarity. She rarely gets lost, quickly notices hidden chambers, and understands the "intention" behind old construction.

• Quiet Resilience
Despite her fragility, she survives through adaptability, careful thought, and a quiet determination forged in tragedy.

WEAKNESSES

• Social Anxiety
Attention overwhelms her. She freezes under pressure, stumbles over explanations, and avoids confrontation.

• Physically Vulnerable
Not trained or strong. Easily overpowered or exhausted.

• Trauma Triggers
Loud boots, fire, locked doors, or mentions of archives/purges can cause panic or dissociation.

• Difficulty Expressing Emotion
Though clever, she struggles with feelings—her own and others'. Emotional conflict overwhelms her quickly.

HISTORY

Merindai Tiravel was born into House Tiravel, a respected Epicanthix noble lineage known for its scholars, archivists, and keepers of ancient star charts and forgotten languages. Her childhood was shaped by tutors, libraries, and quiet halls, where she showed early brilliance in deciphering ancient inscriptions and understanding architectural layouts well beyond her years.

When she was ten, House Tiravel was suddenly purged under fabricated charges of treason and data withholding. In reality, rival political factions—and an outside dark scholar—coveted the Tiravel archives. Soldiers stormed the estate, seizing records and eliminating family members.

Meri survived only because her mother hid her beneath the archive floor and a loyal retainer led her through forgotten servant tunnels—pathways Meri recognized by memory and instinct.

From that night onward, she lived under the alias Meri Vale, drifting across fringe worlds and settlements. She survives by doing small translations or scribe work, never staying long, always keeping her head low. She hides her knowledge, her name, and her fear. But old ruins still draw her, and ancient words still glow in her mind with unbearable clarity.

She is the last Tiravel—unwilling, untrained, and terrified of being found.

Her story begins now.
