Melaenore 'Mela' Sartha is the sitting Senator for Chandrila in the Galactic Alliance Senate.
A prominent sentient rights lawyer on Chandrila, Mela stood for her homeworld's senatorial position on a platform of broad domestic reform. Now a freshly invested Senator, Mela must balance the deep traditional roots of her homeworld with her own progressive ideals, as well as dealing with the cut and thrust of everyday Alliance politics.
Confident, commited and forthright, Mela is well-spoken but firm, relying on the quick-thinking and rhetorical skills she built in her own legal practice. Many years of dealing with legal matters and Chandrilan politics has gifted her with diplomacy, tact and an impressive collection of insults to yell behind closed doors.
Senator Sartha's only child, Aripine, has recently joined the New Jedi Order. Rumours in the Chandrilan gutter press paint Mela as deeply unhappy with this development, though she makes little public comment.
