Erich Lor

A group of soldiers walked through a jungle, steadily forging a path through the thick underbrush. Every few minutes the harsh sound of a machete cutting into vines could be heard, and slowly the group of soldiers made forward progress. They spoke loudly, conversing with one another and yelling to those within the group. Above them, deeply seeded within the tree line stood a single figure, a long black curved bow within his left hand and his right placed against the side of his head were there would normally be an ear, if not for the mask of course.

“Set and ready.” The figure said almost too quietly as the soldiers walked directly beneath him. He watched them with steady eyes behind the cloth mask. The figure moved slightly, crouching on the thick tree branch and stretching out his arm. The figure was Erich Lor, a mercenary working for the local government, the group of soldiers below were rebels out to conduct a coup d'etat. Erich loved coup's. Those who conducted them were usually blinded by hope and ambition, they were easy to kill and easy to take down, it made for an excellent pay day.

Something chirped within his ear, and a blue light flashed across his HUD. In an instant Eriched reached to the back of his bow and pulled back. He fired the energy bow three times, each time a thick red bolt streamed from the center of the bow, and each time it flew to a separate target. Along with his own bolts several dozen blaster shots rang out throughout the forest, in a matter of seconds the group of soldiers lay dead.

Erich smiled behind his mask, and then he bounded downward off of the tree's. He jumped from branch to branch, slowly making his way to the forest floor until finally he landed in the clearing with a silent thump. The Garhoon breathed in deep, taking in the smell of death. He grinned slightly, and as he did so half a dozen other soldiers stepped out from the bushes surrounding the clearing. They nodded to Erich and he returned the favor.

This was only one of a hundred bands of roving soldiers out and about the capital. The reigning government had hired Erich and his company to “keep the peace” so to speak. It had been code of course, keeping the peace here meant eliminate any and all resistance to the government in the area. Slaughter the would be rebels and leave their corpses and an example. Of course Erich's company had been more than happy to oblige, and Erich had been even more so. This was a perfect opportunity to feed.

The mercenaries dug through the corpses, looking for wallets, ID's, credits, and most importantly maps. After a minute or two of looking Erich found one such map and he quickly unfolded it. “LT, looks like we found ourselves some direction.”

The young mercernary said the words with a massive grin, he loved war.
