Meal of Forgiveness

Fedrig

Fedrig looked at the time then at his attire. He was dressed out of his armour, wearing a smart suit of navy colour with a navy tie. He was hoping the colour would go with his eyes, which were always called his best feature. His beard had been trimmed and tidied as he stood outside Beth's door. He was trying to get the courage to knock on her door. They had met when hunting down a pickpocket recently, however, Fedrig was hoping to get a do over on that first meeting. He had bumped into while wearing armour caused some injury to her. He was most upset by that.

He thought that a meal out would compensate the injuries he caused by accident. He was also hoping to better get to know Beth, she was attractive and seemed a pleasant enough person so going on a date would be something that he would like to try. However, for past few minutes he was stood outside the door he had found out was hers and too nervous to knock. He could kill hundred of men, get into some deadly fights and cope with a million other situations but asking a beautiful woman on a date was very different and somehow, a lot scarier.

Then he knocked.

Beth had probably spent the vast majority of her day preparing for the night. Making sure her hair wasn't a mess, picking out the right dress. Should she wear a dress? He might've been one of those armor-only Mandalorians, no matter the situation. Or perhaps he opted for a suit, or something casual? Beth nervously wished she had asked for specifics - but, didn't' that kind of ruin the mood?

Heck, was that even what people did when they got asked out? Beth wouldn't know, considering it was really her first legitimate date. She never really felt interested in many of the prospects that popped out at University. And she really didn't count the time her and Caedyn stood on that balcony, talking about the Sith invasion... So many years ago now. She was surprised he even asked, considering how they initially met. Beth had been bruised due to his armor after he bumped into her. Stupid, easy bruising. But, at least it led here.

In either case, Beth had finally decided on a light creme top, with a slight peach-pink skirt. Alongside, she braided her hair back. And then... It was just waiting for him.

Knock. She was already waiting right at the door. She did a quick look in the mirror before and taked a deep breath. She opened the door, with a smile. "Hey! It's good to see you," she said as she stepped outside.

All that Beth needed to see was Fedrig's face to know that he was godsmacked at how beautiful she looked in her skirt and top. It was like a dream and it was something that he was completely unprepared for. He remembered how beautiful he thought she was but part of him thought he exaggerated or something, however here she was and here he was with his mouth slightly dropped and still amazed that someone as beautiful as she was would be willing to go on a date with a rugged soldier like himself. Attempting to tidy his scruffy hair, Fedrig coughed and tried to smile, "wow, you look amazing tonight! I'm not sure what to say. I urm, I thought we could try a restaurant near here, the food is meant to be really nice and cooked fresh."

He felt odd not in his armour but he figured that wearing armour on a date would be a bit too odd, it was practical and he would wear it on every mission no matter what but something like this, something more intimate, he didn't need it. Didn't want it. He extended his hand as an offer to Beth as he thought a nice stroll together could get the conversation flowing. Something to talk and give them a chance to get to know one another better before they ate. Keeping a leisurely pace, he smiled to Beth. "So, urm, do you know what people talk about on dates? I've not really had much experience with dates." Fedrig had romantic partners in the past but never been on a date, it tended to be something based more on short term passion than long term interests. "How is your shoulder? I hope it didn't bruise too badly."

Beth's cheeks flushed pink when she saw his reaction. A small, sly smile as she glanced to the ground before she took a moment to look at his eyes. She rubbed her arm with her arm as she nervously glanced him over. He was handsome - in a suit, which made her choice to wear a dress feel a lot more real. Didn't seem to be the always-in-armor types, at least from the looks of it. That was nice - at least for a date. She watched as he tried to tidy his hair and then complimented her. She gave a small nod, "Thank you, you look amazing too." She gave another smile as she nodded at the idea. "Sounds perfect."

With that in mind, she placed her arm in his as they began to walk - and talk. She laughed quietly, "I honestly have no idea. I guess, just ask questions about each other?" She said with honesty, using her free arm to pull back some loose strands of caramel blonde hair from her cheek. Beth was less willing to admit such things - although she appreciated Fedrig's honesty. The woman didn't really know how to act, ask, or what. She shook her head, "Oh, it didn't... It is almost healed up now, actually. I'm part Eldorai, I don't know if you know them. Extra sensitive to touch, bruising, and stuff."

Feeling his cheeks slightly blush as he heard Beth compliment his attire. He wasn't use to wearing normal clothing and being on a date felt odd, in a very good way, it was nice to actually connect with another person. She seemed to relax when noticing he wasn't in armour, he wasn't sure if Beth would be the type to prefer armour either but from her lack of armour on their first encounter he took a risk that she didn't. Feeling her link arms with him, Fedrig could feel his heart beat slightly faster as he tried to remain calm and collected. "Thanks, I wasn't sure if you would prefer guys in armour and such." He chuckled slightly.

It was nice to know that Beth was just as uncertain as he was about this all, gave him a small comfort knowing he wasn't the only person inexperienced with dating. Fedrig nodded his head to her suggestion that they just get to know one another. Taking in her beauty, Fedrig felt like little else in the world mattered than listening and speaking with Beth, just the movement of her strands of loose hair was elegant and very well done. It was captivating for the man who didn't really date much. "I'm glad that it wasn't too bad, hopefully it will just become a cute first meeting we can tell people down the line." Fedrig smiled as he walked with her. "Wow, I didn't know that, must be hard to deal with getting easily hurt. How does touch feel then? Is like you can get a feeling about a person or understand them better? Or just increased feelings that other people would feel?" Fedrig asked as he tried get a better understanding of her and her race.

Beth gave him a quick smile as they walked. In truth, she tried to keep her eyes looking forward. She hoped to avoid eye contact, which would make her more nervous than she already was. She chuckled quietly, with a small nod. “Nah, I’m fine with either or,” she admitted honestly. Armor was good in most situations, but on a date? Nah.

Beth looked to him and gave him a smile. A cute little meeting, yeah. “It would be sweet, wouldn’t it?” She said as her heels continued to tap on the ground. She shook her head, although she was appreciative of his curiosity. “It’s not like… Emotional feeling. Imagine, if you will, someone touches your hand. I feel that but by like times 10.” She wasn’t the best at explanations. “So, I just feel the touch more. Likewise, if you punch me, I’ll bruise and hurt while a normal human may not have any effect.” She paused, “If that made any sense.” She gave another small smile before focusing on the path before them. She hoped the dinner would be good. "Are you human or..?"

He nodded his head, understanding Beth's stance as he was of a similar mindset. The night was quiet and the stars were twinkling as he looked up and smiled as he took notice of the night sky. It was pleasant to spend the evening out with such a lovely girl, normally he would be spent on his own reviewing battle tactics. His life was all about being the best Mandalorian he could be, which had gotten pretty lonely, however tonight was something special. "Very sweet I think." Fedrig agreed about their first meeting.

It was interesting to hear about her biology being so different to his own. "Ah, okay. It must be difficult, feeling things so intensely. Is it difficult being intimate with others if you feel things so much more intensity?" Fedrig asked, there was the fragile side of things but the romantic side might just be as hard to deal with if not harder. "It made plenty of sense. And yeah, just a normal human myself. From Corellia so I am Corellian but that's as interesting as my origins get." Fedrig chuckled deeply. "Where do you come from?"

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth gave him a smile before she too took a moment to look at the star lit sky. It was a beautiful night – no clouds in sight. The charm from the town hung about, with softer lightning from the streetlights. It was almost like it was made for a good date night. Of course, the night was still young and who knew. He may end up hating her, especially if he didn’t know who her parents was. That tended to scare people off. Mand’alor mother and all.

Her cheeks burned at [member="Fedrig"]'s question but she nodded as she understood the concern. “It… Has it’s pluses, too. So I don’t think it’s necessarily a negative. I feel the good just as intensely as the bad,” she admitted with careful wording. “Oh, Corellia? That’s awesome. I’m not sure if I’ve ever met someone from Corellia.” She gave a slight shrug at his follow up question, though, “Mygeeto, as far as I know. That’s where my earliest memories are.”

Noting the blush, Fedrig noted that she was hiding something about the good but he knew better than to push it. Whatever she didn't say, he could take a guess at what she was not saying. Apparently she came from Mygeeto which was interesting in of itself. He had never been to that world so it was interesting to him. "What is Mygeeto like? I have never been myself." He asked as he stopped them outside the restaurant, giving her a smile, he guided her into the restaurant and waited as the waiter guided them to a table.

"I hope you like the food here, I wasn't sure if you ate meat or had a particular favourite style of cooking. Growing up on Corellia, didn't really have much in the way of unique cuisine." Fedrig chuckled deeply. "Corellia isn't as exactly or interesting as people think, it is harsh at times and lots of people suffer and die at the hands of criminals in the slums." Fedrig sighed as he thought about his mother's death and shook his head. He couldn't linger on the darkness in his past. "Anyway, on a cheery note. What did you fancy to eat?" Fedrig asked warmly to Beth.

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth nearly shivered as she thought about how to answer his question on Mygeeto. She liked the cold but she would never enjoy the type of cold that Mygeeto was. “Freezing. Cold.” And hungry, really. Food wasn’t common unless you could afford it. At the time, that was something she really could never afford. She hadn’t known it at the time, but she had survived as she accidentally used the Force to persuade people to take pity on her.

She slipped into the booth at the restaurant as she glanced over the menu. “Water, please,” she said quietly to the waiter. She gave a shrug with a smile, “I’m pretty open to whatever. Not too picky of an eater.” She gave a nod as she listened to him explain Corellia. “That’s true… But, everywhere has its bad sides. We should all try to be better people, though.” She nibbled her lip as she thought about what to eat. “Hmmm… I think I may go with the braised shaak roast. What about you?

Beth didn't have much to say on Mygeeto, it seemed that she didn't enjoy her experiences while living there. Fedrig decided best not to pry anything from her about it all. Instead, he ordered a water as well, the meal was various cultural cuisine. "This cuisine all sounds fancy moreso than I have seen other places call it, not sure what to eat. I tend to be pretty basic in what I cook and eat, not much of a cook." Fedrig admitted as he chuckled slightly, it was a reason he asked her out to a restaurant instead of cooking her a meal. He just knew that he would mess it up and ruin the evening with burnt food. Fedrig looked over the menu several times. "I will have to roba pie, I think." He ordered with a pleasant smile to the waiter.

Fedrig thought on what Beth mentioned on how they can try being better than where they came from. It was a fair point, that Fedrig could follow. Sipping the water when it arrived, he gave a smile to Beth. "Aye, we can do better than where we come from, just makes me sad to think people are still suffering on Corellia." Fedrig stated with a sad tone to his voice. "Can you cook then?" Fedrig asked interested in her.

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth crossed her legs as she leaned onto the table. She gave [member="Fedrig"] a small smile and a nod. It was more fancy cuisine but Beth was mostly used to exotic cuisine. One of her favorite things was trying new things. It was likely from her youth, after being picked up by Kaine and being bounced around planets in assistance for the Clans. "Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes it is better to be basic and then catch a surprise." Beth gave the waiter a nod and ordered the roast.

She sipped the water with a slight nod. It sucks that people are suffering - even outside of Corellia. The galaxy was a rough place that didn't give many breaks. His next question caught her slightly off guard from the subject change, "Um, kind of. I can cook most meals, just not... Crazy, exotic ones. I don't really have a lot of time to cook so I usually catch delivery or grab a bite elsewhere." Or, just snatch stuff from the Palace kitchen but he didn't have to know that route.

Taking a large sip of water, Fedrig could feel nerves kicking in as he sat across from Beth. It had been too long since he done small talk that wasn't shooting and war tactics, that was the normal talk that Fedrig had with other Mandalorians. War was all most Mandalorians cared about, or at least combat skills and mental prowess in board games based on combat. This didn't leave much room for small talk and getting to know one another personally. Taking another sip of water, "ahem. Well, I don't think you want to trust my cooking skills but I look forward to trying some of yours next time?"

Fedrig smiled warmly as he nodded his head to her, "I tend to grab a few snacks and buy something on my way to missions." It was honest but he still felt a bit silly that he couldn't really cook for himself. "So, what do you do in your spare time?" Fedrig asked as he took another sip of his water.

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth’s own nerves and generally lack of experience was getting to her. What was normal to do on a date? Heck, it had been so long since she’d last even been on one. Life was too busy for such things. Between school and the club and…

She gave a little grin with a nod. “Of course, I’d love too. Cooking can be fun.” Sometimes, anyways. She just hated the mess afterwards. She chuckled at his question. “Free time? Haha, I’m studying to be a doctor and doing medical missions. Barely any free time.” She said with a joking tone, “But, seriously, I sing at a nightclub. Hang out with my family, that sort of thing.”

Sometimes feeling unsure and slightly awkward worked between two people, to have something in common and understanding. Fedrig finished his water and spotted the waiter bringing small bread rolls to tide them over till the food is prepared. Fedrig took a bite and listened to what Beth described as her free time and her ambitions. Swallowing his mouthful of bread, "Oh, a doctor that is interesting! I bet you tend to learn lots. I don't have the mindset for healing and medicine, much too knowledge. I find war, battles and that kind of stuff stick in the head better." Fedrig smiled and raised an eyebrow as he looks at her.

"Singing at a club? That must be fun, what got you started on that?" Fedrig asked curiously as he took another bite out of the breadroll.

Beth sipped her water as well as the conversation developed. First dates were always a nervous wreck, even more so when it was your first date in… Well, a very long time. She gave the waiter a quick nod of thanks at the bread rolls. She gave a nod and a smile as [member="Fedrig"] mentioned her future. “Yep! I’m already a combat medic on missions, but soon will be full on doctor.” She chuckled, “War and battles and strategy has its place.”

She gave a nod as she took a bite of the roll. “I was, well, to be honest, avoiding my family, lived in the dorms at the university and wanted credits that didn’t belong to them. So, I auditioned, and they seemed to like it, so.” She gave a little shy shrug.

Fedrig nodded his head as he listened to Beth talk about her career path. "What type of doctor do you want to be? A doctor for children, women or stick with combat aid?" Fedrig asked with interest, he shrugged when she said that his talents had a place, Fedrig realised that he needed to find hobbies outside of war. He was becoming too cliched as a Mando, all war and no fun.

"Is everything okay with your family?" Fedrig asked with some concern, it seemed there was some issues between Beth and her family. It was unfortunate, Fedrig had lost his family but he still remembered the irritating feelings that family can cause. His mother could be overbearing. "If you don't want to talk about it, I understand." Fedrig admitted.

[member="Beth Cadera"]

Beth gave a smile as he asked what kind of doctor she wanted to be. She gave a nod towards the end of his question. “Likely will stay combat medic, it is more general. But, we’ll see where things go and such,” said with as she finished off a bread roll.

He asked his question right as the waiter brought their food and sat it down, so she had to pause and thank the waiter first. She grabbed her fork and thought about how to answer that question, “I mean… There were some issues going on at the time. It’s better, now, though,” she said with a smile. “Does your family live on Mandalore…?

Fedrig nodded his head as he listened to Beth discuss her plans for the future, staying as a combat medic was a good job that would help save plenty of lives in terms of soldiers and others in combat roles. "It is good job to have, plenty of people will owe their lives to you." Fedrig stated as he leans back in his chair with a warm smile.

As the waiter placed the meals down, Fedrig smiled and inhaled the fragrance of the pie as he enjoyed the smell, he heard Beth talk about how her family and herself weren't on good terms before but had come to an understanding. Fedrig nodded his head as he grabbed a fork and broke the pie open, revealing the meaty inside with a rich aroma. "Good to hear that everything worked out between you guys, family is important." He paused when she asks about his family, taking a bite of pie, it gave him time to think of an answer.

"My... my mother died on Corellia and my father left before I was born." Fedrig answered honestly as he took another mouthful of food and looked down at the table.
