Variable fire patterns for higher rate of fire or more power

Weaknesses:
Larger size and power requirements (Counts as 1 additional weapon for mounting for a total of 5 weapons)

Description: MCS engineers have developed an advanced defense weapon mount based on the advancements of the MC1001 Barracuda-class Point Defense Laser power systems and the operation of the AG-2G quad laser cannon and the Rapid Fire Laser Cannon. This weapon system mounts four quad laser cannons on one centralized turret which utilizes targeting and control from one MC1003 Tetra-class Targeting/Tracking System. This system of mounting limits the number of contacts the weapon can engage at once but makes up for it in a variety of fire patterns making it much more effective overall. Each of the patterned programmed into the weapon system can be selected by the gunnery crew and changed at any time to engage a variety of target types from incoming projectiles and missiles to larger attack craft and small capital vessels, such as freighters and corvettes, at very close range.

The Firing pattern's selectable are as follows.
single effect fire - Each of the four quad laser cannons individual laser barrels fire separately for less power and maximum rate of fire. (continuous fire)
single quad - each of the four quad laser cannons fire all four barrels for more power and a high rate of fire (1.32 seconds cycling time)
dual linked quad - two quad laser cannons fire all four barrels in synchronization for more power and a moderate rate of fire. (2.6 seconds cycling time)
quad linked quad - all four quad laser fire all four barrels in synchronization for the maximum power available from the weapon system at a lower rate of fire. (5 second cycling time)

The Single Effect Pattern allows each barrel to fire individually giving the weapon system a continuous fire pattern as each of the sixteen barrels fire in a staggered pattern at .08 of a second apart. Each barrel fires in staggered sequence where one quad laser fires one barrel then the next quad laser fires one barrel. This pattern continues until all four quad laser cannons fire one after another. This staggered cannon firing pattern allows the first barrel of the first quad laser cannon the 1.32 seconds needed to cycle, starting the pattern over again.

The power requirements and size of the mechanics needed for the operation of the weapon system take up more space than the four separate quad laser cannons normally would. Each MC1006 Sturgeon-class Laser Defense Battery counts as 5 quad laser cannons
