Points of Interest:

  • Diatom Inn; Probably the only Inn you’re going to find here, it’s open from midday to late evening, serving food, beverage and rooms for those who need it. You can rent rooms out for a week at a time but no more than that.

  • Fenatro Brothers; A herbal remedies shop that sells spices, herbs and incense to those willing to buy, they also sell souvenirs for those passing through.

  • The Miner’s Pick; Tavern that has the widest selection of beverage, okay food and a bard or two who sings but it has no rooms to let.

  • Sven’s Boarding Home; If you’re going to be here for awhile and don’t have enough to buy a home or deed to land around the village, you can rent a room at Sven’s. He also has a really great sauna.

  • Wax It All: Sells candles made from the local wax (insect) as well as books, scrolls and other antique items that might seem like useless junk to some.

Description: Built deep into the mountains near the Sanctuary of the Order of the Sacred Lotus. The village of Maurius is a quiet one, with low-technology. Mines and livestock are the primary sources of living. You could classify life here as subsistence, doing enough to get by and live off of. There is one speeder outpost down the stream by the windmill where rice is milled into flour. Homes and businesses made primarily of stone crafted out the very mountains the village is nestled in. Carefully paved stone paths layout the walkways and places of where you can go and mark the entrance and exit points of the village itself.

History: Maurius is an old village and it has served as a halfway point for many, whether they were coming or going. Running from or running to, its served as home to those who need it. A place to get your bearings and move on. Maurius as a village has one motto; be true to yourself, something many find as they work in the nearby mines, mining for various spices, ores, gems and whatever else the mountains deem fit to provide. It’s a village build deep into the mountains with two streams running along either side of it, the streams merge into a river that flows down stream.

Water provides a source of life, hooved animals graze along its banks, fish, small crustaceans, and wild rice are often found, farmed and harvest here. Maurius is a simple place really, the people who have settled down here make it easy for those who are lost to become found. Some say the village has been around since the years of darkness, some say longer - history has left its signs, etched in the walls of the mountains in which the village rests.

As it stands now, Maurius boasts a few shops, a tavern or two, and an inn. A longhouse serves as the village chief’s home, she oversees the village and works to ensure their safety. A Kiffar named, Dru Rikkaws who works closely with the villagers and maintains the warehouse where much of the village’s trade is done.

Intent: To provide members of the OSL a local village to interact with outside of the Sanctuary.
