Marik Julianne Winters

On The Surface__
Name: Marik Julianne Winters
Age / Apparent Age: 800+ years technically / 25
Gender: Male
Height & Weight: 6’ 1”
Hair & Eyes: Brown Hair, blue eyes

Physical Description:

Marik is a hard-nosed pilot with a clean-cut look, and a well defined athletic build. He is tall for a pilot and during his time in the Imperial navy his uniform was overly tight on him. He currently prefers a green under shirt with a shrapnel vest and an oxygen supply built in. He has very sharp facial features that match his hardline attitude.

Spiritual Description: The force is often a reflection of ones spirit, or inner self. Marik’s presence in the force is no exception, sporting a cold and chaotic feel. Sensing him is much like experiencing a blizzard on Hoth, and his presence is easily as hard to miss.

Build: Athletic, with very strong legs and a smaller upper body in relation to his well built lower body and core.

Dominate hand: Right hand dominate, though he could well be considered ambidextrous.

Sexuality: Unexplored, though there are some unusual transvestic leanings that he has been suppressing.

Demeanor: Hard to get along with on the surface, but surprisingly gentle once you get to know him and break past his mask.

Behind The Eyes__
Personality: Marik is best summarized in one word: conflicted. His personality is a mess of unsure leanings. Having been brainwashed and made a stormtrooper, he has a very strong pull toward bringing things to some sort of order. Even when he was asked to help the rebellion, he wanted to organize things better. This need to keep things orderly; however, conflicts very much with his lone wolf approach to combat, if he feels there is too much of a gap between him and the soldiers beside him he will often break formation to fly solo which has gotten him in trouble numerous times and almost killed him at least twice. He is rather inquisitive, always wondering about new ways to fly, modify, or better understand his ship, but most of his intelligence is burned into being a gearhead pilot.

Positive Qualities:
Brave – Marik is nothing if not brave, caring less about danger and more about the thrill of aerial combat. This means that he will not back down from something because he is scared.

Confident – Just as he has no fear, he also has no qualms about his own ability. He will not back down from something that he can do because in his mind there is no doubt he is capable.

Fast learner – Marik is able to learn at a rapid pace, taking in months of learning material on flying in weeks. When it comes to digesting new information, Marik is no slouch.

Negative Qualities:

Arrogant – Where his confidence can be quite the asset, his arrogance makes for a great weakness. He believes he is capable of almost anything that is possible in a flight capable vehicle, and he will put his life on the line to prove it, even if the risk far outweighs the possible benefits.
Introverted – Marik doesn’t play well with others, believing most people are inferior in terms of capabilities. He will often isolate himself from his allies during critical moments because they are unable to keep up with him, and that is a dangerous thing to do.

Reserved – Marik is reserved in that he often shuts out his own emotions and needs. He has had to live with a confused purpose for the majority of his life so he doesn’t want to admit to his own purposes for fear that even those are wrong.

Prejudices: Years of service as a stormtrooper have inbred an uncomfortable prejudice against non-humans. This has caused him great ire since his defection into the rebellion and is one of the traits he most strongly wishes to be rid of.

Goals: With a life of meaningless fighting and false purpose, Marik’s purpose has boiled down to this: be the best damn pilot in the galaxy.

Moral Code: Marik’s moral code is very simple, respect those who show you respect. After his change from brainwashing in the empire to freedom in the rebellion he has found it necessary to both shun and reevaluate his morality. Boiling it down to such a simple code has helped him cope with the bombardment of changes.

Strength Of The World__

Force capabilities: The force flows through us all, but is stronger in some than others. People who are talented in manipulation of the force are often called jedi or sith, but even luck and skill can be manifestations of force potential, and Marik is abound with force potential (that is to say he is very lucky.) While untrained and untapped, his natural strength in the force has aided him as both a pilot, and in the few instances where he found himself on the ground instead of in the air.
Legacy Created__
Current Allegiance: Currently he is rather self-serving as a mercenary trying to find his way in an unfamiliar galaxy.
Previous Allegiances: Once, long ago, he held allegiance to the galactic empire. Taken from birth and conscripted to be an unquestioning soldier of the imperial military machine, morals were something decided by the leaders who held infallible control over his every action.

After crash landing and being captured on the ice planet, Hoth, Marik found himself questioning the orders that conflicted with his very personality. In the empire he was a peon who was oft punished for refusal to follow orders, even though the results were often outstanding, but in the rebellion freedom was the word, and his lonewolf behavior was much more acceptable. Thus it was that, after around 20 years in the imperial navy, he defected.

History: Marik was son to a wealthy family on Alderaan before being taken at an early age and made a stormtrooper. Trained under the designation E-1337, he became an exceptional pilot. Throughout his career, he had one of the highest confirmed kill counts of any imperial pilot in service, and some say he was only held back by spite among the higher brass for his lonewolf behavior. The first time this behavior was punished was on the imperial assault against Hoth. He was ordered to sit back and protect the rear guard of imperial walkers; however, he refused to sit idle, and instead went on a hardline campaign to take out rebel snow speeders. After almost 20 confirmed kills, he had a rebel X – Wing on his tail. After sustaining heavy damage, he cut power to most safety systems and weapons systems, using the additional flow to try and boost his engines output. He made a rapid dive into a rapid ascent before cutting power completely in a half turn and re- engaging his engines at maximum power. Marik’s sudden directional changes allowed him to shake the rebel pilot; however, the high G forces brought his vision slowly to black before he passed out cutting out the engines right before he was completely passed out. He woke up as the emergency eject launched him from his burning tie interceptor. He was unable to make it far from the crash site though before rebel patrols captured him. He was taken as a prisoner while the rebel forces withdrew from hoth. After weeks of interrogation and spiteful talk as, “the butcher of Hoth” he began questioning his choices. Had he really spent his entire life doing the wrong thing? Was he a blind servant to evil? His time introspecting led him to the conclusion that he had a wrong that needed to be made right. This thought led him to ask if he could fly for the rebellion. A combination of low resources and a necessity for good pilots eventually led to him becoming an important hero of the rebellion. Eventually, Marik found himself flying mission after mission, and no longer were his lonewolf tactics subject of scrutiny. His prowess led him all the way to the battle over Jakku, where he was mysteriously whisked away to current times by a tear in reality caused by the netherworld crisis.
