Aside from a few small scars, there's little that would make Maria stand out in a crowd, and she prefers it that way. She dresses casually, keeps her hair short, and doesn't much care about trying to be 'attractive'.
INVENTORY
The only real items of note that Maria possesses are her former mentor's ship, a YT-1300 light freighter, and a pair of lightsabers.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
To Maria, there is only one true rule in life. The strong rule and the weak serve. If you don't have the strength to protect what is yours, you don't deserve to have it. The weak give, the strong take. However, this relationship isn't entirely one way. Maria believes that the strong also have a responsibility to protect those that serve them. To her this is the natural order of things and anyone who thinks otherwise is either a fool or a delusional idiot. Love, kindness, generosity, compassion, these are things that get people killed and have to place in the order of things.
STRENGTHS
Determination: Maria is quite stubborn when she sets her mind to a task.
Almost fearless: Almost entirely without fear, Maria is nearly impossible to scare or frighten.
WEAKNESSES
Determination: Maria is quite stubborn when she sets her mind to a task.
Callous: The only person that Maria cares about is herself, and has no qualms about hurting people to achieve her ends. She rarely feels what people would consider positive emotions.
HISTORY
Maria was born on the world of Tatooine to a woman named Verina who worked in a local cantina. From the very beginning, she had to fight for survival. There were times when food was a luxury because her mother was an alcoholic who spent most of her money getting drunk. Maria was a skinny and malnourished child until she finally started eating out of dumpsters and stealing food just to survive. What little interaction with Verina she did have was mostly abusive and, as a result, Maria never truly considered Verina her mother.
In time, she grew into a street-smart kid that mostly took care of herself. She also learned to take what she needed from other kids, and even adults at times. At the age of 11, a slaver tried to capture Maria so he could sell her, and she killed the man with a sharp piece of metal under the rib cage, then proceeded to steal his credit chit and blaster and live off the money for almost two years. It wasn't spent on luxury items, though; Maria rationed the money almost entirely for food and water.
By the age of sixteen, she became a low-level enforcer for a Hutt gangster. She did this by beating the brakes off two other low-level enforcers to prove her worth. After that, Maria proved to be good at her job and didn't cause problems for her boss. She did her job, collected her pay, and kept her head down. Maria also wasn't one for making friends. She had business relationships, such as with her boss, but that was about it.
At the age of 21, Maria encountered a human named Tanarath Vor. He was a businessman that had regular dealings with the Hutts. Tanarath took notice of Maria and told her that she was Force-sensitive. At first, Maria blew him off until Tanarath started to talk about things like how Maria had an uncanny danger sense and the ability to hit as hard as a full-grown man, despite only being 5'6" and weighing 130 lbs.
Tanarath told Maria that she was subconsciously tapping into the Force, and he could teach her more. Maria attacked him, as she didn't believe he was that strong and she only served the strong. Tanarath, using only the Force, beat Maria badly. Upon seeing what was possible through the Force, she wanted this power for herself and agreed to learn from him. She left her job as a Hutt enforcer (without asking), and Tanarath did teach Maria about the Force, specifically the Dark Side.
This mentorship only lasted two years, as Tanarath ended up getting himself killed during a dealing with a gang that went south. Following this, Maria stole his YT-1300 light freighter, two lightsabers, and decided it was time to find her own way in the galaxy.
