OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a high mobility, light infantry vanguard combat unit available to the Mandalorian Empire (Clans of Mandalore)
  • Role: A medium-sized unit of light infantry shock troopers.
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Description: The Mandalorian Advance Guard are easily set apart from the rest of the Mandalorian forces due to the addition of a jump pack, armor design, formation, and attitude. These soldiers are eager and have iron-like morale. They know that, despite their training, their unit will sustain heavy casualties due to the nature of their combat role.
COMBAT INFORMATION: The combination of Unit Size and Availability below is the indicator of how numerous your unit is. Stormtroopers, for instance, would be considered Large/Common, while Rogue Squadron would be a Small/Unique unit. Majority Force User Units are prohibited from being Common or Large. The stronger and more specialized your unit is (FU or NFU), the smaller and less common it should be.
  • Unit Size: Small (12) [11 Soldiers +1 Sergeant]
  • Unit Availability: Uncommon
  • Unit Experience: Members are Veteran and Sergeants are Elite
  • Combat Function: The Mandalorian Advance Guard are a high mobility shock troop style unit whose primary objective is to seize strategic objectives and strike opposition forces behind enemies lines using flanking tactics.
Strengths:
  • High Power Weaponry: This unit's primary weapon is the Mandalorian Assault Rifle which is noted to hit well above its weight class in the amount of damage output.
  • Jumpers: The addition of a Jump Pack enables this unit to quickly transfer battlefield conditions extremely quickly - even battlefields that are cluttered with obstructions such as forests, cities, and so forth.
  • Iron Will: This unit knows what they've signed up for and will eagerly go where most soldiers would not.
Weaknesses:
  • Travel Light: This unit, despite its combat role, wears thin (though high coverage) durasteel combat armor in order to maintain maximum mobility.
  • Brawlers: This unit is designed with anti-infantry in mind and, in order to keep weight down, do not carry any anti-armor weaponry such as grenades or missile launchers.
  • Loud: While the Mandalorian Assault Rifle is a devastating weapon, it does not lend itself to stealth or covert operations. Once the unit begins to engage with their primary weapon their location is easily noted.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Mandalorian Advance Guard was formed to fill the role of light infantry, high mobility strike force capable of quickly seizing strategic positions and punishing unguarded enemy flanks. Members of this specialized group are picked from the most eager and experienced soldiers of more general combat units who have shown great valor and martial prowess. Due to the high-risk conditions this unit willingly faces, many members of this group receive promotions into elite units after two or three successful missions. Those who lead this unit are elite warriors in their own right who have volunteered for one reason or another, though often it is because this unit is the most hands-on unit to date within the army. These sergeants of the Mandalorian Advance guard are noted by wearing a traditional Mandalorian kama and sporting two A180 blaster pistols in addition to the standard loadout.
