  • Name: Machinex
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Homeworld: None as of yet - Stationed on the ship Durasteel Storm
  • Language: Galactic Basic, Binary
  • Average height of adults: 2.0 meters
  • Skin color: Metallic plating, color depends on choice
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Breathes: N/A
  • Strengths: Durasteel plating, internal memory that can hold trillions of files
  • Weaknesses: EMP attacks, electrical attacks: While being able to be destroyed like other machines, the Machinex have to be weary of such attacks seeing their bodies are machines. While many can withstand an attack from being destroyed completely, they're bodies would be shut down and at the hands of the attacker to take or destroy.
  • Distinctions: Force-sensitivity, non-organic bodies, long life span
  • Average Lifespan: 1,000 years
  • Races: Machine
  • Diet: N/A
  • Communication: Speaking, memory transfer through networks
  • Culture: Without the need for food or sleep, virtually most of their time is spent working on what they need to, depending on their career choice. Though, they do enjoy sharing memories with one another, allowing them to see the galaxy from another Machinex. This allows them to have a bond with one another, seeing they can understand. Otherwise, they're spending their time finding a good planet they can begin to live on.

Seeing they don't inhabit a world, they work from a starship called the Durasteel Storm, where they meet once a month to discuss galactic issues and their missions. Transferring memories to one another, they'll than decide what course they should take. Instead of a command structure or leadership model, each Interegus has an equal vote, making it a democracy.

The Machinex have a deep interest in history, holding trillions of files and scrolls on the ship, allowing them to study and learn. They do this because they believe it's the key to understanding the mistakes of the past and possibly rooting out the fear and hatred of machines by doing what they can to help others. Some Integerus will spend months at a time alone, reading and writing.

They also hold several areas on the ship for training, honing their skills in the Force. This is a good way for new Machinex to understand the Force before they go out into the Galaxy. Mainly, the basics are taught, but different specializations can be learned if wanted. They want to know what the Galaxy has to offer them, and in return, they want to show what they can offer to the Galaxy.

Interestingly enough, the one thing they do for fun when they have downtime is to play Dejarik, holochess and other games that require strategy. It allows them to unwind, so to speak, from the daily stress of their missions. Though, it also allows them to see different possibilities they can use if they ever have to go in battle.
  • Technology level: The Machinex are extremely advanced, being able to build machines and weapons with ease. Due to their Force-sensitivity and Rodo Mass' knowledge, they have begun to build lightsabers for their species. While it's coming at a slow pace, their real technological prowess is being able to hack into any machine, be a simple computer or a warship, turning it over to them. When it does happen, they rebuild the object to their standards, making it harder to destroy.

Their ships are guided by holoscreens, allowing them to take out windows. Also, seeing as they're non-organic, their ships are all modified so that the the gravitational effects of sudden maneuvers can allow a ship’s inertial compensators to be disabled, allowing the Interegus to perform such extreme aerobatics that would otherwise kill an organic pilot.

Due to their interest in the Galaxy, the Machines have expanded upon the idea of space probes by creating their own type, which allows them to not just see and report back on locations they've visited, but to also land on a planet, deploying a set of microscopic machines that will study the planet both on the surface and beneath it, seeing what it has to offer. The Interegus have also sent probes outside of the Galaxy, hoping to meet aliens that might exist in the other galaxies.
  • General behavior: Peaceful unless attacked. They don't wish for a war, but they're not willing to just take a hit and do nothing about it. They will defend their selves and each other if they have to. They tend to be more quiet than what one would expect from a droid, but this is due to them not wanting to draw attention to themselves.

If given a chance, some Machinex may go into long winded historical conversations, speaking about important galactic events and the achievements that droids have made. It's not boasting as it's really just a deep interest they wish for others to know. It can irritate other people if they don't know the Integerus too well.

When with one another, the Machinex like to share memories and than speak of the experiences they have. They consider this a deep bond, giving them a connection to one another. They consider this an important trait of their species, seeing
  • History: 600 ABY: Rodo Mass, the first droid to ever become Force-sensitive, decided to figure out more on how he became connected to the Force. Seeing as how he used a shard of the Kaiburr crystal and infused it within his electrical system, he began to study biology, genetics and xenoscience at the Universities of Coruscant and Naboo. Coming away with several degrees in the field, he started experiments on droids, seeing how the Force might respond back.

In the first few years, setbacks occur, with little progress happening. Seeing as how Rodo isn't able to study a live being, he begins to understand the mitochondrial aspect of the Force, inspecting midi-chlorians themselves. Knowing they're intelligent life forms, he begins to suspect that if within a body, the midi-chlorians will react to it's host. Rodo than create an artificial organelle, where, after taking a blood sample from a Jedi, infused it into the artificial cell, thus connecting it to the body.

It's here that the first Machinex was created. While weaker in the Force than a natural being, the Machinex was still able to harness it. Seeing how this would change the face of the Galaxy if anybody found out, especially the Jedi and the Sith. Since he made the Machinex sentient and sapient, they decide to keep it hidden, having him do what he wants but not using the Force in the open. Rodo also begins to believe that if within time, a Machinex could become stronger, due to their longevity in age.

700 ABY: Over the next hundred years, Rodo is able to successfully create hundreds of more Machinex. Despite the large number, they still kept their secret hidden from the Galaxy. When all of the Machinex meet with Rodo, they decide that it may be time to start bringing themselves out into the open. Knowing it could be dangerous, Rodo volunteers to see what will happen if he contacts the Galactic Senate.

Though, before he's able to reach Coruscant, his ship was attacked by the Sith. Seeing as he was a Jedi before, they had been secretly listening in, now knowing what they are. Fighting off the attacks, Rodo managed to head back to the main ship which serves as their base. Blasting off into hyperspace, they decide to stay silent and off the grid until they can figure out what to do.

At the same time, the Sith alerted the Galaxy of the Machinex, which resulted in a massive protest on both ends, one side wanting the Machinex to be destroyed, while others believed it was their right, and that it may signify a new advancement in the Galaxy. A search began by the Sith to find them, but it led to no success. Within a few years, the hype died out and few mentions were given.

710 ABY: After honing many of their skills, the Machinex decided to head to Ossus to find more information on the Force, specifically relating to powers that would help them become stronger. The planet, gone due to the virus, was easy enough for them to access. Coming into the Library, they spent about a month, studying and searching the Temple.

Though, it would become a nightmare when the Sith discovered where they were. Sending forces to attack the Machinex, a battle ensued, where the Machinex entrenched themselves into the Temple to stop the attack. Using the Force and weapons they had stored, they fought a week long war against the Sith before they decided to quit the attack. Losing close to three hundred Machinex, Rodo and the rest take what they came for and leave again, heading to locations unknown.
  • Current Time: Since the Battle of Ossus, no attacks have happened, and the Machinex now number over 5,000 in total. Rodo Mass, knowing they'll be safe, eventually decided it's time to rejoin the Jedi and announce the new species to the Galaxy.
  • Notable Player-Characters: Rodo Mass
  • Intent: Seeing as how I created Rodo Mass before I came here as a Force-sensitive droid, something that hasn't happened before, I was told to come to create a species for him, seeing as how there isn't any Force droids in the Galaxy. This is not a God-modding character in build, but one that I think would be interesting to see.

Also, I spoke to Kaine, the RPJ, and I was told I could create a new species since my previous creation was denied. It gives a solid reason as to how the Machinex have gained the Force, and the original reason why Spencer denied the first species, with her saying that a Machinex wouldn't be strong in the Force as a organic, has also been changed.

It was explained to you why droids could not use the Force. There is not a way in canon to bridge the gap between technology and midichlorians. Midichlorians are not something found within droids. The closest analog would be the Shards, and they remain a fully acknowledged sentient being. There is no precedent whatsoever that would suggest a droid could be made to be Force-using. Anakin Skywalker, as Darth Vader, had numerous aspects of Force use denied to him due to his artificial limbs. With a single, extenuating circumstance, Anakin was never able to use Force Lightning. We're shown a number of times that the Force and technology don't mix well.

The Kaiburr crystal has been noted have lost all its power after being taken off-world. It would function as no more sensitive to the Force than a Corusca gem, so it would be of little use in studying or granting sensitivity to the Force.

Your attempted use of blood from a Jedi as a means of instilling Force sensitivity would not work, with respect to canon. There would still be no method of transferring the midichlorians "speaking" to the droid. As Qui Gon told Anaking, "They continually speak to [us], telling [us] the will of the Force. When you learn to quiet your mind, you'll hear them." Once more, the closest analog to what you're looking for, the Shards, were not a blend of droid and shard in the sense of plugging a Shard into C3P0 would render C3P0 sensitive to the Force. Iron Knights, as they were called, were droid shells that were used at the discretion of the Shard. An analog would be the cybernetic prosthetic installed for Anakin or Luke. Those limbs were no more Force-using after being attached than they would be separate.

While we are certainly open to our members making new and exciting things to use within the Star Wars universe, they have to be grounded in the spirit of Star Wars. Sometimes what we're shown can be stretched, made to fit a new idea from a member. I see nothing here that ascribes to that spirit. There is nothing in the entire collection of information within the Star Wars wiki that would hint at the idea of a droid being Force using.

For these reasons, and the reasons of your previous submission, your species is Denied.
