HISTORY
Dalyeon Shin was born and raised in Gukje, a massive coastal city on the world of Seoul. Known for its sprawling ports, dense urban districts, and industrial shipyards, Gukje serves as one of Seoul's major trade hubs, its culture loosely echoing the maritime traditions of the Busan region.
Her upbringing was difficult. Dalyeon was raised primarily by her overworked mother, one of several children in a fractured household. Her father, a gambler and habitual drinker, drifted in and out of their lives, and most of Dalyeon's siblings did not share the same biological father.
The instability of her childhood forced Dalyeon to grow up quickly. She rarely speaks about this period of her life.
Much of her youth was spent near Gukje's cargo docks and industrial transit corridors, where freight skiffs, courier craft, and atmospheric transports constantly moved through the skyline. By her teenage years she had developed a talent for piloting small craft, first out of curiosity and later through informal racing circuits that ran through the city's industrial districts.
Her flying ability eventually drew the attention of Commonwealth recruitment officials.
Because service in the Commonwealth is mandatory for most citizens, Dalyeon entered the officer track through the Kwon Jiyu Starfighter Academy, located outside the city of Sejong along the Han River.
There she trained in advanced atmospheric and orbital flight, navigating the Arirang mountain ranges, flying above Mt. Hallasan, and maneuvering through the dense commercial air lanes surrounding Sejong.
Dalyeon quickly became one of the academy's most naturally talented pilots. She consistently ranked near the top of her class in combat simulations and interceptor exercises.
Her tendency to disregard strict procedure, however, often placed her at odds with instructors. Her callsign Ember is derived from the color of her eyes being close in color to fiery embers ready to reignite.
Now serving as a Lieutenant in the Commonwealth Navy, Dalyeon flies with 12th Starfighter Squadron, Baekho, the "Fighting Tigers," assigned to Carrier Air Wing Heramses aboard the Matsushima-class battlecarrier I.C.V. King Heramses.
Her squadron currently operates ISF-44 Firestrike First Order TIE Interceptors, older but extremely fast interceptor craft inherited from the First Order following the Commonwealth's consolidation of their military infrastructure.
The Firestrike is not forgiving to inexperienced pilots.
