Lost in the Dark

James heard Kay and Ryn's pleas for him to stop, and they began to run. He felt his knees began to buckle as the familiar exhaustion that followed Force Rage ensued. The harder one raged, the stronger they connected to the darkness within. The more they connected, the stronger they were, but also, the more painful the side effects were. And the more exhausted the rager would be.

"Damn," he wheezed, stumbling towards Kay and Ryn.

The spacer got half way through the short distance before he had to stop and catch his breath. His body was screaming, telling him he had over done it and had nothing left to give. But that wasn't the answer he was looking for. His left hand clumsily rumaged in his pocket and fished out an Adrenaline shot. It was slightly archaic for the times, but it would give him the boost he needed to take care of his family. A few moments later the fresh wave of temporary energy was flowing through James. It didn't matter how tired he was, he had a brother to get to and a sister to tend to.

He crossed the remaining distance and placed a hand on Kay's shoulder, "Ye alright?"

He couldn't see as well as he hoped in this damn darkness of Umbara, and he didn't have the ability to risk Force Sight, so for now he was walking blind. The vicious killer was gone, put away for now until the need to protect his own arose again. He placed his other hand comfortingly on Ryn giving a gentle push downward, "Get ye rest, ye done well. Ye are gonna be alright."

His brother didn't need to know that inside James was worried sick and felt nothing but guilt for shooting at him. That would be dealt with later. For now, he needed to keep himself steady and not push too hard, "Ye lost a lot a blood, the kids are safe, We are safe, ye are safe. Just keep ye eyes on us, and dun't let go."

He shot Ultimatum a half smile. "Second time ye've been there to help take care of 'im. Thank ye."

Kay opened her eyes when [member="Ryn'Dhal"] spoke her name. That unfocused look in his eye let her know that he wasn't quite seeing her as normal yet. She touched his nose as she always did while he was in that big beastly form. "Yes, it's Kay...Just rest easy."

[member="Ultimatum"] had soon approached, letting her know that help was on it's way. That's good. It meant that she wouldn't have to handle it all by herself, and that thankfully meant that she wouldn't have to be carried around. Kay recalled the time that [member="James Justice"] had come to rescue her on Sriluur. She was fine, just a bit dehydrated and malnurished, yet his men insisted that she be carried away on a stretcher of all things. Embarrassing.

And then it all happened. Ryn transformed and attacked another of those hunters, but unlike James, Ryn had shown mercy. Kay blinked as her brother had...grown a lit and he was without clothing? She quickly averted her eyes and shielded them with her hand, just as James placed his hand on her shoulder and asked her if she was all right. "I'm okay, just a bit drained. Ryn....needs some clothes..."

She tried to act all normal around James, keeping the mood light, when in fact she didn't know what to think about him at the moment. His lust for pain and death was starting to match that of Thraxis. And that made her quite uncomfortable.

Standing there, naked as the day he was born, the feline humanoid stood, largely motionless, beyond the occasional quiver of muscle, and his ears constantly pivoting around.

After a few moments James pressed a hand against Ryn. A hand shot up and caught James' wrist in a shockingly tight grip. "I.... I can't see.... are..... are they gone?" He asked, as his eyes looked failingly James' own. He allowed his brother to get him seated, as his ears continued shifting endlessly, overcompensating for his (hopefully temporarily) loss of sight.

He fell quiet, his muscles occasionally giving another tremor, but otherwise motionless. Pain wracked his body. And he couldn't understand how any of it came to be.

He muttered something about captivity, mentioning [member=Ultimatum]'s name, and something about a Zabrak and a Sith Lord. It was all confusing, what little details could be heard coming from the broken man.

With the enemies dispersing, Ultimatum decided to turn his attention to [member="Ryn'Dhal"]. The Banshees seemed to be safe for the time being, and the droid's friend was of much more concern at the moment. The ship was incoming, but it would still be some time before they could get Ryn to the medical attention he would need. Ultimatum began to feel pity for the organic, his suffering was must be great indeed. He would need to spend quite some time in a bacta tank for the wounds to heal , the droid just hoped that it would not leave permanent damage.

The metal being moved to stand near Ryn, but kept his distance so that the other two could speak and care for him. The droid turned his sensors outward while he looked to his friend. While there were many wounds, some very deep and severe, he would need to be moved. He barely heard the mumblings of his feline friend, however the droid knew enough to recognize what he spoke of. Yes, that strange imprisonment that had left Ultimatum with more questions than answers. He had found an ally in it all, a new one that is. The interrogator at that facility had almost died, in fact her death had been a near certainty. It was a miracle that the treatments accorded to her once Ultimatum had gotten her to the Sovereignty. Unfortunately he had never learned of the purpose of the prison, the new ally had suffered massive brain trauma and had no recollection of the time previous to her medical treatment. They had fortunately escaped nonetheless, and Ultimatum was glad that Ryn had made it out as well, the same would be true for today if the droid had anything to say about it.

"We need to go, if we can get him back to the ship then it will be more easy to get him to medical attention. I'll carry him if no one else would like to."

Kay got to her feet, keeping her eyes down to the ground. She overheard some of [member="Ryn'Dhal"] 's mumblings, frowning slightly as she was in no real shape to help him any more than she already had. All of that running had taken it's toll, not to mention her mind was still picturing the horrible acts that [member="James Justice"] was doing.

She looked over to [member="Ultimatum"] as he suggested carrying Ryn. Of course Kay couldn't do so. Ryn was much taller and bigger than she was. And he was still naked. "Maybe you should do it. You'll be able to get him to your ship faster than we could."

Kay was feeling torn over whether or not to lecture James. Perhaps now was not the time. Maybe it was best to just keep it all bottled up inside. That's what she did with a lot of issues, sometimes taking on her troubles on her own. But that often led to even more trouble.

Casting her eyes downward again, she waited for the others to lead the way.

He looked down at his battered brother who was muttering feverishly. He gently placed a hand on his brother's head, using his Zeltron empathy sent a wave of peace in him.

"Ye are gonna make it," James muttered, more to himself than Ryn. He had to keep moving, the moment he stopped, adrenaline would wear off--and he'd have to come to terms with what had happened, both what he had done and Ryn's feverish state. And he only knew one way to cope with that. He wasn't going to do any good drunk, not until all this was over.

He gave [member="Ultimatum"] a nod, Kay was right, he would be faster than either of them and the spacer had a feeling he was much stronger too. "Ye run ahead, take care of him. I'll make sure nothin' happens to Kay."

Monster or not, he was not going to have both of his siblings hospitalized on the same day if he could do anything about it. The spacer reached into his trench coat and pulled out a snub-nosed flechet launcher. Who needed accuracy when you could launch flechet rounds at people?

He ratcheted a round in and nodded to Kay, "Lead the way, I'll cover ye."

[member="Lady Kay"]
[member="Ryn'Dhal"]

Ultimatum nodded to both, before carefully lifting [member="Ryn'Dhal"] from the ground. The droid attempted to lift in areas that would cause the least amount of pain, namely avoiding touching any open wounds though he could not guarantee such an effort was entirely successful. "See you two back at the ship," then Ultimatum turned his words to Ryn apologizing, "This is going to be a bit rough, please forgive me."

Looking back he took a moment to put the location of the ship onto his visual sight. There was a second of hesitation, knowing that he would not be able to both make this journey quickly and do so smoothly. It would hurt a great deal, or at least that is what Ultimatum guessed. Without further waste of time, the metallic being began running, forcing his pace to sub standard so as to make certain of his footing in the darkened and overgrown environment.

Based on estimations it would be at least five minutes until he had reached the ship, from there he could begin administering first aid. Hopefully that would be enough to stem the damage until the Sovereignty arrived. He hoped that both [member="Lady Kay"] and [member="James Justice"] would be there when the dropship arrived. Then they could all travel to the ship together and those could stay with Ryn once he was in the medical bay. Ultimatum would need to orchestrate a clean up operation to remove any unnecessary signs of what had gone on. He would need to acquire the bodies of the fallen, attempt to identify them, and hopefully send the remains to any next of kin or grant them a decent burial. They might have been enemies and bad people, but certainly they deserved the same respect that would be given to an ally.
