Looking At Things In A New Light

Tython

Anastasia was first and forth most a Mandalorian but that didn't mean she wasn't curious when it came to her Force gifts. She had been training with the peaceful order of the Silver Jedi but heard of other orders out there. The gray Jedi for example were of interest but she never gotten a chance to speak with any of them.

In her opinion it was safer to travel to a Jedi temple and learn from the archives than wander about the galaxy. She had learned the hard way that wandering about caused nothing but heartache and woe. This was better and Ana doubted anyone would mind. The young woman was here to learn just like the rest of them.

Humming to herself she looked through all the books on the shelf trying to locate what she wished to read first. It was hard as she kind of wanted to read them all. Ana just wasn't sure where to begin.

Walking around the library, buried in a book, was a rather tall Arkanian man. Azrael had himself immersed in the healing arts, as usual. He'd always do anything else before having to rely on a weapon. Though that didn't mean he had no experience... Carrying the book in the palm of one hand, he used the other to turn the pages, and every so often brushing his hair back. Rounding a corner, he realized something interesting in the library. "Hm?" Looking up from his book, he saw a face he didn't recognize. Walking over to her slowly, he tried at a smile. "Excuse me, are you looking for anything in particular? This library most certainly has what you need."

The blonde turned to face the Arkanian with a smile. The truth is, I don't know where to start. There is so much here and so much I want to learn. Do you have any suggestions?"

Ana was still trying to play catch up after the majority of her years as a slave. The galaxy was a big place and there was much she didn't know. She wanted to learn though which was why the young woman had decided to come here.

The man himself also interested as she noticed him to be the same race as her mother. Her heritage always had interested her as she had never known her mother. All she could see from time to time was glimpses of her face. It would be rude though to ask him about such things though. She also was curious as to what type of Jedi he was as she had heard there were types.

Walking over, Azrael closed his book and thought for a second. "That depends. How far are you into learning the ways of the force? Do you have an idea of where you want to take your studies? There are plenty of teachers to each skill. Me, i'm a diplomat, with a little healing thrown in." Handing the book to her, he exposed the cover, 'Insight into Diplomacy.' "This would be a good start if you wish to pursue that path, though word of mouth and action is always more engaging."

"I'm a Jedi Knight but I never really chose a path persay. I have learned a few abilities here and there." The young woman hadn't exactly picked a focus of study. Looking at this now made Ana wonder if that was a mistake. She was a new knight though and knew there as time to explore and find what fit her.

"Maybe I need to chose a path though and be more focused in my studies." Ana was random in her chose of what she wished to learn. It was all based on what would be good for the family. Never had she stopped to think what would be helpful for her. "I have never been much of a diplomat. I could learn though. I have been told I have the abilities of a seer. I'm not even sure what paths are out there? Thank you," She smiled looking over the book in her hand.

Ana was grateful for any guideness he could give. She certainly didn't expect him to drop everything to teach her but she wouldn't say no.

Nodding in response, the arkanian began walking, motioning for the girl to do the same. "A seer? That's very interesting.. I would like to see some of your ability put to use. That would be very interesting indeed. But first, introductions. I am Azrael, also a Knight. Though I won't be able to show you much in combat, I can always offer my knowledge." The man extended his hand toward the other Jedi.

(OOC: Sorry my posts are so short, been a while since I played this character and i'm still trying to understand him)

"My visions have become more clear. It's still hard to understand what I see sometimes. I see war, a lot of war which may be why I have focused more on combat." She smiled lightly as she began to walk along with him.

"I do have a hunger for knowledge and no matter how much I seem to read it never is satisfied." There was so much the young woman didn't know not only about the galaxy but of herself as well. " What type of knowledge could you teach?" She questioned holding the book close to her chest as they continued to walk.

The arkanian nodded at this, sighing softly. "Unfortunately, yes, war becomes more and more common to find. That's why learning to fight without fighting is becoming more and more needed. Most do not realize this. They would rather fight than think. I strive to turn to the other side, and to know everything I can about the situation before I act." Finding a bench, he sat down, and motioned for Anastasia to do the same. "I can teach you a great many things. What you do with knowledge is up to you. But what I find more interesting is the way you use knowledge. Wisdom is always the key to success."

"It's hard to not act out when I see war. I wish to see the galaxy a more peaceful place. In the past I have had to use my street knowledge to get out of sticky situations. Now that I'm free I look towards more book knowledge." Ana lightly smiled as she took a seat next to him on the bench.

"I am willing to learn, if your willing to teach. I have always been interested in the sciences and increasing my knowledge." Ana had a feeling knowing what he was and what her mother was that he would be able to assist her. Show her things that she imagined her mother would have had Ana gotten the chance to know her.

Azrael nodded again at the other Jedi's response, then prompted her, "Do you hope to end war with more war? It isn't always that easy. People in the galaxy will never stop doing what they think is right. Fighting back only encourages them. If you're as willing as you say you are, perhaps you could be one to help end the fighting the right way." Looking around him, he watched as other Jedi walked back and forth, going to their own separate duties.

Those whom had rescued her were warriors by nature and had taught her to be one as well. She could see in her brother though that war was not the only way. If they were ever going to even begin to try to knock out the Sith they needed to think of alternatives.

"No," she began to answer lightly shaking her head. "Fighting war with war solves nothing. It's been tried over and over again. It hasn't worked yet so what makes us think it will work now? I know your right about them feeding on it because I have seen it with my own eyes. It fuels them while draining me. After everything I just want peace. There has to be another way, but what?"

The arkanian couldn't help but smile. She was starting to get it. "What would you do differently to stop it?" A simple question. He wanted to see just where she stood. If he could get a certain bearing on her, her viewpoints, he could more effectively teach her. If she needed to be taught. Perhaps... she already knew what to do.

"That's a difficult question. It's hard to say what the right move is. Fighting isn't necessarily a bad thing either because there are times it has to happen to get to protect the innocent. Speaking with Sith I have learned doesn't help as they arn't going to listen. I have tried and have failed time and time again. Tactical moves that are a mixture of both. We must be as sneaky as them. I'm curious though what do you think we should do?"

Ana didn't know all the answers but she knew how slavers acted and it wasn't pleasant. There was no negotiating with them ever. You had to be cunning just like them.

"You are partially right. Fighting is useful from time to time. It never hurts to be prepared." To emphasize this, he patted his lightsaber gently. "We will all fight for what we believe is good. However, the Sith are no different. They will continue to fight, because they kbnow their cause is the right one. Just as we know ours is right. It's all based on the mind. Like you said, we need to be tactical. Combine peace and war. The real battle is in the mind."

"I don't understand how enslaving others can be the right way. I know all are not like that but most are from my experience. There is no compromise when it comes to such issues." Ana brought up the issue that was most nearest and dearest to her heart. Slaves had to be let go and she couldn't see any other way to go about it than with guns a blazing. Ana wanted peace but at times it was very hard to find.

"Where do you even begin to reason with them?"

Azrael nodded, his face full of understanding. He knew all too well the horrors of what the Sith could do. Especially slavery. "You're right, of course. The only other way is to show them, to prove to them what they're doing is wrong. But even then, not all will listen. You must learn to do what you know in your heart is right. The only point I was trying to bring up is, why do you think the Sith hate us so much? Everything is focused on them being the evil ones. What could we have done to them to have that lasting feeling on them?"
