Description:

Ladies and gentlemen, the galaxy is at war. This is not a war of elegance or poise, but a war of blood and iron. Buyers seek out what is needed to win such wars and the competition offers only a constant series of games. One company builds a mousetrap, another seeks to build a better one. Perhaps they may hold the field in things such as blades or droids, but this is our battlefield. This is our specialty. Perhaps this corporation has been dormant for too long. No longer.

What you see before you is the LB-01 PAC, called the "Longbow" for short. It is a Particle Accelerator weapon, much like the P2-CA1 we made for the Republic's warships years ago. You'll find that aside from their similar roots, that is where the similarity ends.

The Longbow is designed to engage enemy armor, specifically the heavy tanks currently in use. The Sith have their myriad of Vong creatures and cookie cutter tanks, the Mandalorians make do with their beskar-plated monstrosity, and here and there we find groups still using our Skochas or the rip offs of the Skocha that have erupted here and there over the years. This weapon can and will give all of these tanks and more a run for their money.

The longbow fires a beam of accelerated neutrons at a target in a burst of energy lasting less than a second. The result is a small 'bolt' of particles launched downrange that hit harder than an asteroid on Dromund Kaas. Even a Skocha can't risk a hit from this cannon without serious, catastrophic damage or outright destruction and before anyone asks, yes I'm talking about the frontal armor of the Skocha. We don't have any exotic armors to test this thing on, but we theorize it'd do some damage at the very least.

The weapon is accurate and possesses a range of approximately ten kilometers, more than enough to engage nearly anything on the battlefield provided it has line of sight and a competent gunner. There is no reload required as the weapon has no shell or power pack to load, though the weapon does require a short period of time to vent excess heat to safely fire the next 'bolt' of particles. This period of time lasts approximately three to five seconds in length depending on the environment. Obviously fighting on Hoth will help keep a steady rate of fire while trying to 'double tap' on Mustafar will give you a melted cannon and not much else.

The only downsides of the weapon is that it's complex and requires power. Not just a simple power pack or small generator, but one big enough to handle the power draw or specially designed to fire the weapon itself. A heavy reactor should do the trick. The weapon design being what it is, the cannon will always have ammunition so long as the reactor has fuel and remains connected. Lose power and you lose the cannon.

As for complexity, this one is a pretty simple explanation. The cannon launches particles down the barrel of the weapon through a dense series of electromagnetic fields, which we'll call 'lenses'. These lenses focus the particles into the beam fired by the cannon. All these things are encased in the barrel of the weapon which is, of course, armored, but battlefields being battlefields there's always a risk of damage. Damage the weapon, the weapon doesn't work. Repairs are nearly impossible on the field unless your average tank crew has a comprehensive understanding of electromagnetism and advanced electronics, the necessary spare parts on hand, and a large amount of time. Since that little trinity of requirements isn't likely to happen in the field, you'll need professionals to repair the weapon. Any jury rigging is almost assuredly going to blow you sky high if you try to fire it.

So that's it, folks. Your new orders are in the documentation provided. I expect these to be rolling off the line in a week's time. Get to it.

This weapon is extremely powerful, but not at all outlandish. The issue Is your description of its relative strength, remember that no matter how powerful the weapon you cannot dictate the damage done to your opponents equipment. Remember this during use, and everything is fine.

Approved.
