Armament:
Offensive [x2]
  • [2x] Laser Cannons

Squadron Count: 10

Special Features:

Maneuverability Rating: 1
Speed Rating: 2
Hyperdrive Class: 2

Strengths:
  • Superior Maneuverability granted by directional thrust designed specifically for snap turns at a moments notice with the addition of microthrusts on wingtips for further control.
  • Quality shielding to achieve a higher safety of the pilot on board.
  • Pressor Field generator to prevent theft via remote activation upon exiting craft.
Weaknesses:
  • Pressor generator may be sliced or hacked in order to lock the pilot out of their ship prior to entering the craft.
  • Armament is located above and behind the cockpit, meaning the ship must totally rotate in order to fire on enemies that may not be at a 180 degree angle with the laser cannons.

Description: For the first time in centuries the shipbuilding company of Koros Spaceworks has put forth a new ship, and a fighter at that. The Locust was designed for maneuverability and speed in mind, but suffers a glaring flaw over its range of fire. Its two laser cannons are situated directly atop and behind the cockpit at such a height that if a ship were to be just a meter shy of the top of the ship the weapons would be unable to fire on a target, necessitating the ship to have to rotate itself in order to get a shot. Because of this the thrust connected to the engines rotates within the wings, and is complimented with microthrusters to achieve full omni-directional flight, albeit with a slight learning curve with the use of three different controls in order to turn the ship in more complicated maneuvers. Because of this engine system the Locust has the potential for excellent control at the drop of a hat, as well as an appreciative speed and thrust.

Beyond the controls of the ship are the remaining features, which include a pressor field generator that may be activated from within the cockpit - to surround the exterior of the ship in such a field - or remotely from a command ship. Pressor fields operate inversely from tractor fields, rather than pulling and attracting other objects towards the field, it repulses them, creating a pushing effect. Many larger ships employ similar pressor fields on ships that remain in their hangars to prevent theft or for other purposes, and such was considered beneficiary to the relatively 'young' company - at least the current era of Koros. The ship also operates with a Supreme Defender shield generator, which provides a higher standard of shielding over the standard stock most starfighters make use of.
