Description: The LLT-17 Tracker-class Missile is designed as a means to track the exact location of a previously encountered starship that might otherwise become concealed or attempt to flee from a scene. The original concept was pioneered by none other than Boba Fett on Slave I, which employed dummy proton torpedoes fitted with S-thread trackers and a homing beacon. The dummy proton would impact the vessel and become embedded in the target before transmitting its location to Boba. The Tracker works similarly, but it is somewhat more refined and based on a standard concussion missile platform. During flight and targetting procedures, the Tracker appears to be no more than a normal concussion missile, but that quickly changes once the missile reaches its target. The Tracker uses a Tekonite nose cone to absorb the initial impact of the Tracker onto its target vessel. A skeletal subspace transmitter carriage becomes embedded in the target, and is further secured to the target vessel by being coated in Instant Adhesive. The subspace transmitter transmits its own coordinates based on a preset coordinate grid to be picked up by friendly subspace transceivers. The Tracker will continue to transmits its coordinates until its powercell is depleted, typically around 8 hours. During this time, the operators of the Tracker can use these coordinates to surreptitiously follow a ship, or use the coordinates to accurately target a ship that may be using electronic warfare (such as sensor jammers) to hide its position from conventional sensors. Compared to Boba's version, the Tracker also has a significantly decreased tracking range of 30 light years due it using a comparatively cheap subspace transmitters instead of expensive hyperspace homing beacons and S-thread trackers. But Lucerne Labs passed on these cost-saving measures into the unit's final price, making it easily affordable for independent operators like bounty hunters to routinely use and cost-effective enough for government law enforcement agencies and militaries to stock up in large numbers.
