Description: The Dodonna-class Interceptor is designed to complement the Narra-class Interceptor favored by many in the Republic fleet. While the short-range Narra has focused, heavy gun firepower and role modularity, the Dodonna is designed as a focused long-range interceptor which can use a variety of warheads to bring down its targets.

The basic concept of the Dodonna harkens back to the New Republic's A-wing fighter, and in many ways, the Dodonna can be considered its heir. Like the A-wing, the Dodonna is an exceptionally fast craft armed with a pair of blaster cannons and a sensor jammer (ableit the Dodonna's is less powerful than the A-wing's). Unlike the A-wing, the Dodonna is specificially designed to excel in atmospheric operations with a streamlined hull, wings that can provide lift if the repulsorlift fails, and extensive airfoils and airbrakes for superior atmospheric maneuverability.

The Dodonna's core airframe is derived from the Kalidor-class, though its wing structure is noticeably different. Like the Kalidor, the airframe is composed of sturdy ferrocarbon, to keep the ship together during hard maneuvers, covered by lightweight ferroceramic plates, to keep weight down to allow the ship to use the full potential of its four fusial-thrust ion engines. Both its canard and rear wings feature airfoils on both the top and bottom which can suddenly flare out to create drag, and depending on the number and location, can cause the Dodonna to rapidly decelerate in the atmosphere or make unusually sharp turns. However, most of the time, the Dodonna relies on its Pelikan-style tail for making regular flight maneuvers. The rest of the craft was designed around this airframe, resulting in a design that emphasizes speed and maneuverability over traditional power, and forcing the engineers of Lucerne Labs to get creative to keep the starship's other performance competitive with existing interceptors.

Lucerne Labs had little difficulty in incorporating a pair of autoblasters just underneath the nose, but he airframe design resulted in there being few good places for typical warhead launchers, and none that were convenient. Wanting to reduce weight even further, the engineers opted to completely get rid of having traditional, bulky warhead launchers and instead opted to go with semi-recessed hardpoints set underneath its rear wings. This design decision ended up reducing the number of warheads a Dodonna can carry compared to its competitors, but it also allows some flexibility, as its pilots can now mix and match light warheads (typical concussion missiles, proton torpedoes, and similarly sized munitions) rather than only having the choice of one type. It cannot carry large warheads such as cluster warheads, large proton bombs, baridium bombs, thermonuclear planetary bombardment weapons, or anything significantly larger than a normal, starfighter-grade concussion missile or proton torpedo. Unfortunately, this also has the side effect effect of exposing the warheads to enemy fire compared to traditional launchers. To help ensure that it's not easily hit by explosives that could potentially create a sympathetic detonation, the Dodonna carries a LLT-1 Starflare–class Sensor Jammer in one of the areas originally slated to contain a warhead launcher. While not incredibly powerful compared to some military sensor jammers, the lightweight Starflare combined with a traditional countermeasure launcher gives Dodonna pilots of a variety of options to deal with that design flaw.

Lucerne Labs envisions the Dodonna-class being primarily deployed on offensive fleets compared to the Narra, where its long-range and warhead capability allow it to attack other starships and targets without relying on a mothership for transit. Its focus on atmospheric design also means that it will likely be used to escort transports, gunships, and other small craft in the atmosphere. Otherwise, the craft will likely find itself serving right alongside established Narra-class Interceptor units.

I think 6 modular war heads is a bit heavy for an interceptor to have without a development thread, but this seems fairly reasonable. and although I know several interceptors with fewer war heads I don't see this as a huge issue. However due to the fact I worry about people getting it in their heads that an Interceptor can carry six baridium bombs or thermonuclear planetary bombardment weapons, would you be able to edit in something in the armament section about the form of war heads meant for this? Ex. Proton torps, concussion missiles, buzz droid missiles, seeker missile etc..

After you do that I think I can stamp it in good time.

Would you be satisfied with something like light standard warheads (and give examples like concussion missiles, proton torpedoes, etc)?

I can explicitly put in the description that it cannot take any heavy warheads like cluster missiles, high-yield bombs, etc.

EDIT: Can I also harass you about the Mass Driver Cannon that you started judging?

It's all good, life gets busy. I've added the following sentence to the description now, let me know if you think this works:

"It cannot carry large warheads such as cluster warheads, large proton bombs, baridium bombs, thermonuclear planetary bombardment weapons, or anything significantly larger than a normal, starfighter-grade concussion missile or proton torpedo."

On the warhead hardpoint listing, I've also changed it from "standard" warhead to "light" warhead, just so at a quick glance people don't get the wrong idea.
