Apophis was the man of his household from a young age, ever since his parents disappeared, he helped raised his younger siblings and cousins. It gave him purpose, cause to grow up stronger and to care for those around him. Most Thyrsians were aggressive, hostile, but growing up Apophis didn't have any sense of 'anger' to his peers and counterparts, he progressed through life doing what had to be done. There were depths to Little Apo, and within those depths were an air of loyalty, and a sense of duty that many Thyrsians he knew didn't share. Sure, there was a drive for credits, or payment in the Golden Company, but to the comrades he fought alongside, there was a loyalty to them as well. To bring them all back safely, home, or otherwise. Mission accomplished, a single loss life struck him significantly, and every loss was another added layer.
Drawn into the greedy life of a soldier for hire, Young Natuu joined up with the only mercenary organization that he could think of, and that was with his kinsmen in the Golden Company. While he yearns for riches, there was something else that drove him, and that was the battle. A hidden anger, one that only arose on the field of battle when his blood was up, Apophis didn't want to just fight, but he wanted to win. Complete domination of his enemies, Apophis' bloodlust emerged whenever he needed to protect his kin. Balancing his own purpose and his responsibilities to the Company proved difficult, though compassion for his targets was suppressed to the point that he felt nothing when he took their lives. With every life he took, he felt less and less for them, and when blood that did not belong to him splatter on his armour, it made him crave for more.
