ADVANCED SYSTEMS
- Ilcened Sensor Dampener - A short-range sensor jammer designed to disrupt targeting sensors focusing on the host vessel.
- Size - Small, light starfighter/interceptor, relatively quick and maneuverable
- Sensor Dampener - Designed to disrupt targeting sensors focusing on the host vessel
- Size - Small, light starfighter/interceptor with lighter armor than many other vessels
- Limited munitions - with only 4 small external hardpoints and no internal munitions tubes, the Limemlin-class packs a light punch against larger vessels
TGM had lain silent for too long. Designs had been suggested, plans brought forward, but production was never finalized beyond prototypes; there had been no official releases for years. Revenue held steady for a while with legacy production models, but even that started to wane. Eventually Audren became annoyed, picked a design, and pushed it through. Support equipment for that design was likewise pushed through.
The engineers had never been able to agree whether the vessel should be an interceptor or a light fighter, and thus incorporated ideas from both...to the detriment of the resulting craft. It was smaller and lighter than most starfighters, but neither as fast or maneuverable as an interceptor. Due to the size and weight it couldn't support the weapons loadout of a standard fighter. It was pushed through anyways.
Unlike most TGM starfighters, the cockpit was at the forefront of the vessel, preceded only by the nose cone. Twin engines provided the thrust and power, and with the addition of a hyperdrive took up most of the space in the body of the craft. What little space remained was dedicated to essential components such as navigation and avionics, communications, life support, and sensors. As this was intended to be a combat craft however, a shield generator and weapons needed to also be included. The shield generator was included in the thickened spine of the vessel and there was just enough room for a ventral chin-mounted laser cannon. To give the design every edge possible, the engineers designed a small sensor dampener designed to disrupt targeting sensors of opponent craft. Specifically, the device was matched to the sensor unit and would detect when other vessels targeted the host vessel, then alert the pilot and disrupt the attempt. That the sensor dampener could also be used in other vessels was a bonus - it had been designed for this one.
The original designer had added wings to the vessel, and the strike capability of the craft was still not enough. A laser cannons were mounted to the end of each wing, and two additional hardpoints to mount items as well. These hardpoints could be used to mount items such as munitions, fuel pods, or sensor pods, but they were small and provided limited support; they could only mount small, individual items such as single missiles.
