SPECIAL FEATURES

  • N/A

Strengths:
  • Guns the Size of Corvettes: The 134cm Hypervelocity Guns are the size and mass of an attack corvette, and sling a projectile 4.3 feet wide at incredible speeds. They are very long ranged and they hurt.
Weaknesses:
  • Sheep with a Bazooka: Much like the early Mon Calamari Cruisers, the Once A Paragon was not born a warship. With a formerly spacious and roomy interior that is the antithesis of damage control, the Once A Paragon relies heavily on its dense shields for defense. If those go down or are bypassed, the ship has respectable armor but is simply not designed for an extended engagement against proper warships.
  • No Secondary Battery: Not to discount the missile tubes and a very healthy point defense suite, but the Once A Paragon has no intermediate caliber guns, and is simply not equipped for a close-quarters fight against cruisers or the like.

DESCRIPTION
A privately made explorer and colony ship funded a thousand years by some people no one cares about. What scant records of the Anyda Dusak exist reveal only that it never reached it's intended destination. Lost for centuries in a remote asteroid field, the hulk was recovered by anti-Imperialists near Bakura, renamed the Once A Paragon and eventually refitted with the biggest goddamn cannons anyone could find. Now the Liberation Army uses it when they absolutely, positively, have to blow up a battlecruiser.

The basic concept for the ship only worked because the internals of the ship were loose enough (i.e. not compartmentalized like a warship would be) that they could fit the rails and support equipment in first and then reinforce around it. Among other things, it makes the internals of the ship an absolute nightmare to navigate. There was still a massive amount of modification needed. Whole sections of the ship were torn out to make way for a much larger main reactor, weapon emplacements, crew berthings, supply facilities, fabrication shops, and so on. Science labs were torn out and replaced with hangers and equipment bays. Up forward, entire sections of what had been the main living area were simply leveled out to allow for installation of the main battery. And oh, what a thing to see.

They took goddamn planetary defense cannons and put them on a ship. Absolute madmen. 134cm HVs-15 guns, modified for turreted shipboard use, installed in 10 triple turrets. The weapons are of the low-rate of fire variety of HVC, but with appropriately higher muzzle velocity. They are enormously powerful and accurate and, at range, make the ship capable of inflicting serious damage on a vessel many times its size.

Ever conscientious of the risk that strike craft pose to large lumbering warships, not to mention the existence of shield-penetrating missiles, the korrinas fighters installed dozens of point defense turrets all along the hull. These are automated, very rapid fire gatling lasers that have complete coverage around the vessel, and are limited primarily by their comparatively low damage per shot.

While having the Once A Paragon in commission is definitely impressive, General Command has found it difficult to man and utilize the ship in operations thus far. It is a rare sight on the battlefield so far.

HANGAR: Low Four Squadrons in three distributed hangers Standard Complement of non-combat shuttles and launches
Don't forget that our hangar template has changed. Here's the current one for our star destroyers:

  • Hangar Space: (Please provide the amount of fighters/support craft this submission can hold in it's hangar by count of Squadrons, which hold 12 average Starfighters. The higher your squadron count, the lower your Armament and number of advanced systems should be. )
    1000 Meters: [Base: 2 | Very Low: 3 | Low: 4 | Average: 6 | Moderate: 8 | High: 9 | Very High: 11 | Extreme: 12]
    [*]1500 Meters: [Base: 2 | Very Low: 4 | Low: 5 | Average: 8 | Moderate: 10 | High: 11 | Very High: 14 | Extreme: 16]
    [*]2000 Meters: [Base: 3 | Very Low: 6 | Low: 8 | Average: 11 | Moderate: 13 | High: 15 | Very High: 18 | Extreme: 21]
[*]Hangar Allocations: (This is the allocated amounts of starfighters and support craft (dropships, shuttles, gunships, etc) this submission can hold in its hangar based on the maximum hangar space capacity listed above)
  • Starfighters: x squadrons
  • Support Craft: x squadrons (Minimum squadrons lists should match the squadrons listed for the "Base" rating for ship its size)

Support craft are listed as squadrons now, and do take a minimum number of overall squadrons, so we're looking at a minimum of two squadrons being set aside for support craft, and 1-2 squadrons of strikecraft for a ship this size with a 'low' hangar rating.

There's no way, in my mind, that the standard set of shuttles and boats every ship larger than a freighter would carry, could possibly take up the space and logistics equivalent to two squadrons of fighters or other strikecraft.

Updated the sub appropriately.
