STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
+ Electronics Engineer -
+ Signals Intelligence -
+ Scout/Sniper -

= Paranoid - Due to both Liam's past and his training, his awareness of how easy it is to infiltrate, gather intelligence, socially engineer, and so on, he is paranoid. This serves to protect himself and others from various dangers. But it also serves to only raise anxiety an dkeep him from some more positive things. It is both a help and a detriment at times.

- PTSD - Being stuck in the communications control room, despite the entire situation being out of Liam's control, he blames himself for what happened. He could have done something. Should have done something. But he stayed where he was. He hid. He let them down. All he did was gather information on the ones that killed his friends, his buddies... his second family. In truth, there was nothing he could have really done. He would have died to. But he lives in a personal hell trying to reconcile that.

- Insomnia - Because of his PTSD, specifically remembering and dreaming about what happened, he sleeps less than he should. This sometimes makes him dull. And when he does sleep, it's often very poorly. A good night's rest would make him more than a mere man.

- Claustrophobia - Due to being trapped inside the communication control room's conduit relays at the time his crew was under attack, tangled in a massive tangle of wires, Liam now has a problem with tight spaces. Especially when his other issues crop up. The feeling of being trapped or helpless in such a small place is more than enough to send him into a panic or anxiety attack.

BIOGRAPHY:
Liam originally joined a small regional naval group, wanting to get off his homeworld and visit space. In the navy, he underwent electronics engineering training which he completed successfully. He developed a knack for getting through jamming, scrambling, and other tricks of the electronics world. His superiors noticed and put him into signals intelligence training and some slicing. After serving a couple tours, his ship was on a long-range patrol when a pirate group ambushed the ship. The battle lasted only a few minutes as the patrol craft was no match in firepower or tonnage.

The pirates boiled away her shields, then her guns and long-range communications, and knocked out her main hyperdrive. Liam was amidship when the battle broke out, buried in a utility space. When the pirates came aboard, they lined everyone else up in the main airlock, offloaded supplies, and instead of releasing the crew, they broke the seal on the transfer tube and spaced the crew by the time Liam managed to get out of the innards of the ship and to the bridge.

Angry and frustrated, with no weapons, he couldn't strike out at any of the retreating vessels. Instead, he fed all reaming power into the sensors and collected every byte of data he could about the ships, and streamed it to one of the shuttles across the internal network. Setting the computer to keep feeding data, he fled into that same shuttle. The pirates trained their weaponry on the patrol craft and opened fire on the stricken vessel, gouging deep into her reactor. Liam managed to pilot the shuttle out the other side of the ship an instant before it exploded. He made a blind jump t hyperspace, hoping the pirates wouldn't notice his survival.

After that, he turned back toward home and reported on the incident, provided the sensor logs. They wanted to give him a medal. At first, it pleased him, but the longer he sat with the events, it felt cheap. As near as he could tell, the investigation went nowhere, either because the higher-ups didn't' care, or those that looked into the matter were incompetent.

During this time, Liam renewed his fieldcraft skills, as well as marksmanship. He applied for more and more training in these areas, rapidly gaining proficiency in scouting, intelligence gathering, pathfinding, tracking, more slicing, pistol, and rifle skills especially at long range. Within another two years, no new developments on the pirate attack came to light, and his service was up. He'd managed to keep the shuttle as legitimate salvage, though he had enough credits to buy it outright anyway.

Feeling disillusioned he left his homeworld and began tracing back the pirates that wiped out his crew. He'd kept copies of the records and done his own investigating and poking around in his free time, making his own headway. Before long, he found the pirates in question. He learned their routines, their hideouts, their connections, and when he was ready, he began eliminating them. He didn't waste time or energy with traditional fighting. Merely hunting each gunman, each pirate, like animals and as casually as taking out the garbage.

SHIP:
Quill-class shuttle designated Growler-1138 or "The Growler" as he calls it.
