Description

Sometimes you need a big stupid gun to do big stupid things. So a very unique and very powerful weapon was created to help select few people do these big and stupid things. The Legendary Lightning Gun, a step up from traditional lightning guns favored by bounty hunters. This weapon is designed to do one thing and one thing only, completely destroy whatever it is you are pointing it at.

How it's works. This is a complicated piece of machinery, a very very complicated piece of machinery. But arguably simple when it's explained. Starting with the basic frame of your standard rifle but much bigger, the inside of the rifle contains a central housing unit is one big flywheel that contains a very moist watery environment. This is achieved by placing a small canister of water on the back of the rifle near the butt stock, water flows through the tubes and comes out as a very fine mist Inside the flywheel chamber.

Once the chamber is filled with a moist environment the next step of the process comes Into play. What looks like a traditional magazine is slammed into the magazine well of the weapon. This however is a energy cell and it begins to power the weapon. The flywheel begins to spin and electrical currents flow through into the flywheel chamber to join the moist environment. Then as they say nature takes it's course. The friction between the water molecules and electricity rubs against each other building more and more energy and each time it reaches it's breaking point where a lightning bolt would traditionally "snap" that energy is transferred to the Diatium power cell inside the weapon. And this process continues for a good five minutes until the gun is fully charged and ready to fire. This harnesses the power of nature and modern technology to create a truly powerful weapon.

Power. A lightning bolt that fires for 5 seconds doesn't sound very devastating, but when it packs over 3 million volts of electricity which is quite low compared to natural lightning which traditionally contains upwards to a billion volts and burns at about 40,000° F it can pretty much burn and destroy tanks, small walkers, even large walker's if you aim it at the cockpit and will obliterate any singular person. However the weapon is meant to be used on vehicles and use on a person would be a huge misuse of the weapon. But if it were to be used on a single person a lightsaber, force imbued blade or sith sword can deflect or absorb the blast.

Drawbacks. Well there are a lot of problems with the gun. For starters it takes upwards to five minutes to completely charge the weapon and fire. After that if it breaks it's extremely hard to repair due to all the moving parts and components. Another of course is Ion and EMP based attacks. But the most simple weakness it suffers from is it's size. It's big, clunky, heavy, and just an all around pain to hold and aim.

Summary. The Legendary Lightning gun is a very large lightning gun made to destroy vehicles. While it can be used on personnel it's not recommended as it's slow to aim and a person can simply step out of the way before the user can properly aim and fire at the target. But it works great on destroying vehicles and with it you can confidently take on a walker and bring it down.

Under Review.

I suggest if you have any canon examples of a similar weapon that you link them at the base of your submission.

Before you judge the canon weapon doesn't state how it works so I tried to think of the best way to logically make lighting shoot from a gun. Then again people can shoot it from their fingers here so what do I know lol.

Your source states it is a weapon which fires a coherent burst of electrical energy, not lightning. This would be like using an Ion Blaster (if we're talking about overloading electrical systems) or a modified Arc Caster, which is more of what this sounds like. The Arc Caster is a weapon that fires a coherent stream of electricity that leaps towards its targets (and eventually the ground, as all electricity does) with a much more limited range.

Lightning, the natural sort, carries 1x1010 watts, a measurement of power (energy/time). This exceeds the power output of a nuclear power plant (for reference purposes, the Belgian Nuclear Plant Doel which has a maximum peak output of 1.04 Gigawatts, or 1.04 x 109 watts), and the sheer speed at which lightning moves (due to it being formed by the friction of electrons, causing negative charges in the atmosphere) create shockwaves that can permanently damage hearing and will always head towards the ground. This means that trying to make a gun that literally fires lightning (which would probably be considered a superweapon) would be just as dangerous for the person using it as it would be for anyone within about 10 meters of them. Its power draw alone would be massive, if it were to be somehow created without stimulation of electrons in the atmosphere. For all intents and purposes, a gun that fires lightning will not be approved without major changes to hamper its near-nuclear tier of power, especially when lightning is at 53,540 degrees fahrenheit, rather than 40,000 (which is still nothing to scoff at, as that is still hotter than the surface of the sun).

To clear up the confusion between force lightning and actual lightning, while the subject is here, force lightning is energy sprung from the force (pure dark side energy) rather than actual lightning. It generates electricity, but not on the scale of actual lightning (though this depends on the person using it, as we have seen with canon examples, and various board ones.)
