Special Features

The helmet connects using a rubber tube to a hydron-three cylinder which is typically attached to a belt. The helmet allows the wearer to breath a hydron-three – air mix which allows for comfortable living.

Strengths
  • Air Improvement – The helmet is designed solely to provide its wearer with the hydron-three supplement required to prevent withdrawal and fatigue.
  • Partial Seal – While the helmet is not designed to be fully pressurised, it does create for a partial seal around the user’s face, allowing for a marginal increase in survival time in airless environments.
Weaknesses
  • Civilian Use – The helmet is not at all designed for military use, and as such offers almost no protection against attack. The light, interior padding might help to reduce the impact from punches, but ultimately it is designed to make the helmet more comfortable, not to protect the wearer.
  • Decompression – The helmet itself is not highly pressurised, but the canisters to which it connects are. While the hydron-three canister is sturdy enough to survive everyday scuffs, almost any form of weapon – improvised or military – is able to penetrate the outer walls, thus leading to explosive decompression. This is not likely to cause any serious injury beyond large bruising and some cuts from pieces of shrapnel.
  • Wear and Tear – While Lefwen has, by necessity, become quite good at keeping the helmet in serviceable condition, it is still not in a good state. The glass front of the helmet is cracked around the edges, and the duraplast outer shell of the helmet’s sides and rear has grown brittle over time. As a result, it is liable to break if exposed to physical abuse.
Description

While only a quarter Geranite, Lefwen is still semi-reliant on hydron-three. She can go without the gas for some time, but when she knows she’s going to be caught up in a situation for some time it can be a comfort to know that she’s continually getting what she needs.

The helmet was designed to provide hydron-three to its user, and as such it contains a simply regulator and a system of rubber tubing which connects to a hydron-three canister, which is typically worn around the waist. At the mixture ratios Lefwen uses a single canister will allow for around 24 hours of continual use. The canister is highly pressurised and constructed from layered fleximetal, which means that while it is resistant to everyday scuffs and damage, it is not especially durable when exposed to kinetic or thermal energy. The helmet itself fairs even worse, offering little or no protection for its wearer in any situation beyond a fist-fight.
