Learning to Adapt(Krest).

I'll be honest in saying that the only true reason had joined this group was because of Saryana. Where she went, I went. That's how it was to be. However, that didn't mean I wouldn't come to enjoy my new home. The people were nice enough, and already I was learning things I had never thought I'd be taught, and every day i seemed to learn something new. This particular day, that new thing seemed just a bit more important. Pacing the room of my training hall, I simply waited. The battle master had agreed to teach me my first saber form and while I didn't have a weapon just yet, it would be good to prepare for the day I received it.

Krest had always enjoyed the idea of teaching more people what he knew. It was his way of leaving his mark on the galaxy, to leave his teachings with so many, and one day bring each of them to the understanding he had.

And this day was like any other of those. Stepping in the room, he would be whistling, lightly tossing a rather basic saber in his hand. He was dressed in his usual armor, with a sword on his hip. But there was a surprising lack of a lightsaber. Once more the Zabrak had a mechanical leg, and with it, a compartment within to store his saber in secret. It was a trick he liked to use.

"Ah, there you are. Are ya ready to begin then?"

I tilted my head to him as he tossed me the saber. Well, it certainly wasn't what I expected. I thought it'd be some stiffed back dude with a databoard or something, not some guy tossing me a saber like it was a drink at a party. "I... uh... I guess so." My hand moved to a button I assumed was the activation. A moment later and the blade sprung up in front of me.

A slight frown began to form on the Zabraks face as he looked over the boy. It was apparent he had never seen such a tool as the saber before, which wasn't what Krest had expected. Calmly he would cross his arms over his chest, motioning to the energy blade with a slight tilt of his head.

"You know how to use that, yes?"

I looked up at [member="Krest"], adjusting my grip to deal with the rotating force of the blade. Swirling it then doing a light jab, I tested myself with it. It was a bit awkward to hold, but I was sure that I could learn to use it eventually. "Kinda." I pointed to the top of the blade then did a jab as I spoke once more. "The pointy end goes into the other person."

".. Right. Yeah, that's about it really. Well.. I mean the blade burns anything it touches, but otherwise yeah." A sigh escaped the lips of the Zabrak. So he was dealing with a complete Newby. At least he didn't turn the saber on on himself.

"Right. Well. Show me how you would stand before you would attack."

I let out a small wince as he let out a sigh. Hey, it wasn't my fault that I'd never held a beam sword. As far as I was concerned, a vibro-blade worked just as well in a fox, not that I commonly carried one of those. Regardless, I followed his words and stepped into a steady position. My feet were shoulder width apart while both hands set the hilt b my right hip with the blade rising up to point over my left shoulder. Was I used to a lightsaber? No. Was I used to fighting? In some ways, I was born for that.

The Zabrak looked him over for a moment. Silent. So he did know how to at least use a blade. He'd wave a hand. "Here, give that back. I'd rather you not hurt yourself with it." If he didn't know a laser sword, it would be dangerous. But a solid sword, that was something Krest himself used. He could work with that.

I flicked the blade off and tossed it to the man. "Maybe one day. Just not this one." The thought of such a unique weapon was appealing. Versatile and easily hidden. But I didn't quite feel like getting my head lopped off quite yet. Best to try and figure out what I was doing with it before I tried to train with it.

[member="William Seraven"] would end up having a sword in a sheath tossed at him. It was Krest's own blade, simple in the sense of it being a Sith Sword. With a slight nod, he'd flick on the saber that was tossed to him. "That feel better at all?"

I whirled the blade around a bit, getting used to it as it carried the moment just below the tip. "It'll take some getting use to." As a zorren, I was able to carry things a bit heavier that normal but it was still strange to get used to. Once I got use to the weight, I resumed my earlier stance, only reversing the direction of the blade with one hand hovering over the steel.

Krest grinned a bit, nodding once. "Don't get too use to it. It's mine after all. But, what matters most to you? Finesse? Adaptability? Offence? Defence? Countering?" Each of those had a form linked to it. A couple had more then one, but it was a good way to gauge which would be best.

I thought for a moment, thinking over each word. Finesse? Never my strong suit. It was nice but it wasn't practical. Offence? My instincts screamed against it. Defend others, don't destroy them unless necessary. Defense? Nice, but people who were too shieldy got blasted a bit too much for me to think about. Countering? Nice thought. But it was just a mix of attack and defense and a dangerous one at that. But that other one... adaptability. I liked it. it describe my life. Survive, adapt, survive again. Its how I had lived so far and its how I intended to keep on living. "Adaptability, without a doubt."

Krest blinked for a moment. Not many in his time had picked adaptability, and this was a first. And he liked it. "Niman then. The Diplomats form. It utilizes all the forms.before it to allow the user to adapt to the situation. It also allows the force.to be used more practically."
