Unknown Planet, two years ago

The trick to surviving the galaxy was to learn more ways to elude death than it used to kill you. For example, Kara had learned how to pilot freighters in abnormal gravity wells from one of her fellow explorers while she’d shill been considered green. Thus when an exploratory pass over an unknown planet had put her right in the middle of one, she’d been able to mostly land the Like You Stole It rather than crashing and burning. Unfortunately, neither she nor her copilot knew enough about repairs to get the ship flying again.

The other explorer had claimed to know everything there was to know about this class of starship when he’d been hired, and had even been able to provide certification to back it up, but so far all he’d managed was whining and panicking. This would not look good on the rookie’s ninety day evaluation, and Kara really hoped they both survived long enough for her to watch dad can this fraud. Thankfully, their emergency beacon was working just fine; so help should arrive before their food supplied ran out.

To kill time, and to keep herself from strangling a certain copilot, Kara decided to do her job and start exploring the area around the ship. The vegetation and wildlife appeared to be fairly basic, but she set up camera and gathered samples none-the-less. Her equipment showed that the planet’s gravity well fluctuated at irregular intervals in certain regions. Life seemed scarcer in those areas, although that might not be true for the deeper parts of those areas. Specialized equipment would be needed to investigate should some scientist take an interest in this place.

Kara would be happy to declare the whole planet useless. Unless there was something extremely valuable under the surface, then no company would want to invest. No one wanted to build in a place that was dangerous to reach. There was too great a chance that expensive equipment could be lost in a crash. Still, there were formalities to be observed, and more samples to be taken. With any luck the rookie would be finished taking soil and water samples by the time she got back from this trek.

As she walked, Kara noticed ship debris periodically littered the ground. Obviously more than one ship had been caught in the well over the years. Since there was no official warning regarding this sector it was not likely that very many of them had made it off planet again. The parts varied in age, with some parts being old enough for the foliage to have grown around. Some of the tree tops looked as if they had been damaged recently. Had someone else been pulled down in the last major flux?

@Kara Avoyos
Indeed someone was, although there was no appearance of such. From the parts of wreckage Kara could say it was one of the Omega starfighters, carrying only one man and perhaps some rations.
Its crater was next to a large tree, mostly intact by its hard landing although parts of its roots have been exposed.
It seemed there was a being laying there, face down, it was a pilot suit, its hands outstretched, face covered in a helmet, it seemed the pilot crawled out of the wreckage to either pass out or die under the tree, Kara could not be sure which one was it at current distance.

Some parts of the starfighter would still be smoking, but perhaps she would not be too late to save the pilot by the tree or the food rations in the machine.

The wind shifted, and now Kara could smell something burning and see smoke above the trees. She ran towards the smoke, dodging through the foliage, hoping she would get there in time to help any survivors. It took longer than she would have liked to locate the site of the crash, but the sun had not moved much overhead. A starfighter lay in ruins, parts scattered along a fresh scar on the earth. The small ship obviously didn’t have the same capabilities as her larger freighter and the pilot hadn’t been able fight gravity.

The cockpit was empty, so Kara scanned the area around the ship before finally seeing a humanoid figure hidden in the shadow on a large, damaged tree. She hurried over to the fallen figure, pulling a bacta pack out of one of her pockets as she went. Once she reached him, the teen knelt down to gently roll him over. “Hey, are you conscious? Can you hear me?”

When she turned the suit over a surprise would hit her, it was stuffed with burned rubber, leaves and sticks. Immediately a soft click was heard, by then she could probably realize it was a trap.
What looked like foliage and dirt around the suit, among with few vines from the tree turned out quickly to be a net as it rose, pulling Kara up high into the air as the trap was spring, she would be dangling now in the net.

As she was trapped there, well until she would free herself with her lightsaber, a being appeared on a branch next to the one the net was dangling from.
It literally appeared, one moment there was nothing there, another its form was gradually revealed. What Kara saw could be described as similar to a large bat.
HK was dangling off of the branch, upside down, clutching to it with his strong metal claws, he would have a dark-grey cloak wrapped around him like a bat it would have its wings wrapped around itself. It was his chameleon cloak, the reason why he was not visible before, its stealth mechanism was activated. He would be looking at Kara, that red cold glow of photoreceptors piercing through the darkness of the hood over his head.
"Hello there, can I help you?"
He asked simply

What the void? Who did this? Who crash landed on an uninhabited planet and then started laying traps for unlikely passersby who decided to come along and offer aid? Fracking sons of banthas that was who. Unless whoever had set the trap had included some sort of animal bait this set up was not going to catch dinner. Well unless dinner was people, but those wouldn’t be that common here. Which brought her back to wondering why someone had bothered to set this trap?

As if to answer her question a figure revealed itself in the trees. A droid of some sort had suspended itself upside down on one of the branches, because why not? It made perfect sense that Kara would try to help the one downed ship on this planet that had been piloted by an overly dramatic droid who liked to lay traps for unsuspecting young women. This was almost as ridiculous as that cantina full of cross-dressing Mandalorians.

Bat-droid had the audacity to ask if he could help her, which was met with an immediate glare. It falling out of the tree would be helpful, at least then it would suffer properly for its dramatics. If thing started cackling like the villain in some cheesy holovid she was done. With some twisting Kara was able to pull the knife from her boot and start cutting at the net. If she was careful then she should be able to cut herself partially out and use the net like a rope to swing towards a branch or something. “Nope.”

@Kara Avoyos
Seeing that Kara was about to set herself free, HK unsheathed one of his vibroswords, his cloak flapping as it released his body, hanging upside down.
HK delivered a quick slash to the rope holding the net together, letting Kara drop down suddenly to the land. Come on, that was the fun part of traps like that!
Anyhoo, the droid released his branch, doing a semi-flip in the air, using his repulsorlifts, to land on his two feet, looking down at Kara as she was probably shuffling to get up from the mess of net and rope.
"It was still nice of you to drop by."
The droid said with that pun, coming at Kara like a freight train, as he reached back to unsheathe his second vibrosword
"Now, speak you allegiance."
He did a quick scan of her to look for any marks anyway, anything on her that would show to which faction she belonged to, if she had anything like that. It was mostly to check if she would lie or not.
