BIOGRAPHY:
Laurel was born the youngest of three children to a family of healers on Iktotch. Being deaf, Laurel was homeschooled by his parents and taught the family trade from a young age. Her mother often took her out on herb gathering trips with her to teach the child about the properties of different plants and taught the young girl to how create many herbal remedies.
When Laurel wasn't being taught about the family trade, she would keep to herself as although she was able to speak, she spoke with a deaf accent which other children made fun of her for. This led to her vowing never to never speak again. Being the only deaf child in the village caused her to isolate herself from others due to the lonliness she felt as a result and her social circle only consisted of her family.
Worried about her, her parents sent her away to learn telepathy and while she was at it - force heal and other basic force skills as well so that she might be able to communicate with others in a easier manner. However, instead of helping Laurel with communicating with others, it only served to further drive others away due to their lack of understanding of the ability.
At the age of 17, having already learnt all she could under her mother with a few years of experience of healing those in her village under her belt, Laurel packed her bags and bid her parents a tearful farewell to explore the universe. This curious caprine had much she had wished to see and learn and needed to satisfy her sense of adventure before she could return home and finally settle down.
