Laersha Seurat

Intent: To provide a sort of "Frenemy" for Maple to encounter on occasion...one who hits particularly close to home as they were old rivals in the Marksmen. Maybe might become a PC, depending on what happens.

Role: Seurat acts as a semi-antagonist and occasional ally, as they are both, in theory, on the same side in the Confederacy. Seurat likes to show up Maple when she can, but if greater duties to the Confederacy come first, she will usually set aside her rivalry and work alongside her, often without complaint. She is also meant to contrast Maple, as she embraces the Dark Side while Maple rejects it. She is meant to contrast Maple in many ways as a recurring character with a complicated relationship to the PC, and this comes out during the times they fight.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION

Age: 33

Force Sensitivity: Force Sensitive, trained, knight level.

Species: Human.

Appearance: Dresses often in black, with styled blond hair and a smirk to her features. She is very beautiful but there is a hardness to it. A harshness. Has brown eyes.

Name: Laersha Seurat, Sith Warrior.

Loyalties: CIS, Dark Acolytes.

Wealth: Serving as a Sith in the Confederacy has come with its own perks. She is very well off.

Notable Possessions: Her courier class yacht, the Steel Fist. Her single bladed red lightsaber, and her own specialized cane saber from her time in the Marksmen, of a similar design to Maple's though not the same.

Skills: N/A

Personality: Quick witted and often dripping sarcasm towards Maple during encounters, with just a hint of resentment to give most encounters an element of tension in the air. Seurat seeks power, and is not shy about it. She harbors intense jealousy and resentment towards Maple for being Ursula Sandraven's favorite student. And yet, this does not seem to be an absolute. Seurat possesses enough restraint to understand they are, ironically, on the same side, and often ends up inventing reasons to engage Maple, often to either frustrate Harte's immediate goals, or simply just to frustrate Harte and humiliate her. But other times, she seems to border almost on a strange, sisterly regard. As a Sith, Seurat is a brutal, vicious combatant, rarely showing mercy to the Confederacy's enemies, and killing with savagery. While she is not as vile as some examples of Sith (Absolutely refuses to harm younglings under any circumstances, even if it could get her killed.) she is still a Sith: Brutal, concerned primarily with her own advancement, intolerant of those in her way, and relishes struggle, enjoying setting herself above others Harte in particular, though there are hints that Seurat's dislike of Harte may be more forced than either of them are capable of admitting. Capable of being calm...but this is usually a sign things could get violent. Generally, the more affable she acts, the further one is away from a fight.

COMBAT INFORMATION

Weapon of Choice: Her weapon of choice is her single bladed lightsaber, her, charm, and murderous relentlessness. While she still bears her sabercane, focusing on the single bladed lightsaber has caused her to neglect it slightly.

Combat Function:In combat, whether working with or against Maple, Seurat uses and favors savage, relentless attacks with her lightsaber, charging into the thick of battle. Also uses telekinetic attacks like choke, push, and projected fighting. If forced to resort to combat without her saber she often deflects bolts with the palm of her hand and redirects the bolts back to whoever fired. Uses Stava otherwise, but rarely ranged weaponry.

Strengths:

Relentless: Seurat never lets up in battle, constantly seeking to dominate her opponents. This gives her enemies very little chance to react and nearly always has them on the defensive from viciouly fast swipes delivered in wide arcs or crushing blows designed to destroy defenses. Making people run in pants-wetting terror is Seurat's game.

Strong Telekinesis: Seurat's force chokes and grips are very strong and hard to break, and she is excellent at throwing large and small objects at high speed, with lethal results.

Unconventional: Seurat, curiously, eschews the traditional seven forms of saber combat, instead relying on the styles established by Luke Skywalker's Jedi Praxeum, the Fast, Medium, and Strong style. While she has some training in stick fighting and ataru like Maple, the praxeum styles are her specialty. By dedicating her focus nearly exclusively to these styles, she has become a very dangerous saber fighter with a style able to adapt to nearly anything, and has crafted her own personalized form from all three styles that utilizes bold and direct attacks and one handed power slices and blows. Were a Jedi from the clone wars present to see her fight, they might note strong similarities to the bold, aggressive method of Anakin Skywalker, pre cyborg. While it is not the same, many principles would translate well between the two. And considering how deadly skywalkers method was, Seurat's style means she can duel most traditional duelists and win. If all else fails she can still fall back on her specialized saber cane.

Force Enhancing Specialist: Seurat is very good at enhancing her body with the Force, particularly able to sustain a Force Rage for considerable period, making her utterly lethal at close range.

Weaknesses:

Exploitable Aggression: Seurat's focus on domination and charging into the thick of battle means charging into whatever environmental hazards may be present. This can be exploited by more nimble opponents to hamper her ability to focus on them.

Not a strategist: Short tempered and more comfortable in the battlefield than a war room, don't expect her to be calling shots. She's there for the fighting, period.

No deep understanding of the Force: Beyond telekinesis attacks and the Enhancement powers, Seurat isn't exactly a sorceress, and if confronted with a stronger, more skilled Force User she is at a significant disadvantage.

Needs to stay mobile: Her choice of styles has brought great dueling ability but also a few weaknesses, as she uses fast style to deflect blaster bolts, she has a very excellent frontal defense but terrible side and rear defense. Fast style is not Soresu, so she cannot simply hang back and lazily deflect attacks. She must constantly move to get the most out of it.

The trouble with traditionalists: Seurat is a very talanted fighter, and is legitimately capable of killing scores of people, Force User or not. But while her abilities allow her to stand up to average Force Adepts armed with lightsabers, a truly dedicated fencer of the traditional schools, particularly those who utilize Juyo, Makashi, or Soresu, to the exclusion of other styles have an excellent chance of wearing her down or tearing apart her defense. Also, very skilled blaster fighters firing at once can destroy her blaster defense if she stays in place too long. Also, she has trouble taking on more than one Force user.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Laersha Seurat was Maple's rival in the group of Jedi Shadows known as The Marksmen, and her senior within the Organization by more than half a decade. Taken in by the Jedi at the age of four on the planet Deralia, Seurat trained as a Jedi Guardian primarily, though her talant as a sharpshooter eventually gained the attention of Ursula Sandraven. Impressed with and drawn to Ursula's character, Seurat faithfully served in the Marksmen, though like Maple, she too hid a growing sense of disillusionment as their work carried on. Once Maple, back then called Uri entered the picture, Seurat suffered a sense of neglect from her mentor, Ursula, who took Uri into her confidence far more readily than she did with Seurat. It became quickly obvious to both her and the other Marksmen that Uri was Ursula's favorite apprentice, and that fact caused severe distress in Seurat, who idolized Ursula in a way that bordered on the unhealthy, secretly craving Sandraven's approval. But even at this point, Seurat remained faithful and not a traitor, though her reactions to Uri eventually became slightly more irritable. Seurat felt a great sense of self loathing and shame at the fact she was secretly glad to hear Uri had been killed on Mimban, though she never actually believed it, because it meant Ursula might pay attention to her once more.

Her breaking point came when after executing a highly dangerous mission to kill a very skilled Sith Assassin on Sandraven's orders, she was left severely injured and with a terrible epiphany as to the nature of Sith Assassins: they were in the same line of work as herself, except they just straight up admitted they were killers.

Waking up in a hospital without Ursula watching over her like she expected, Seurat finally realized she was no longer content as a Jedi, and wanted to escape the pain of not being able to make Sandraven regard her as she did Uri, Seurat outright escaped and left the Jedi Order, finding training in the Confederacy as a Sith, taking her rage and pain out on everything in the battlefield, but Uri's reemergence has stoked long buried feelings of jealousy and resentment, making her an erratic, moody wild card in her encounters with Maple, just as likely to hinder as help her depending on her whims, though there are signs that her dislike towards Maple is not so absolute as she sometimes like to portray it as, she is still a deadly, savage opponent and twisted shadow of her former self, and Maple is always nervous and wary around her, as their interactions tend have a "nothing happening is more terrifying" aesthetic when encountered peacefully.
