Named after a legendary Corellian fish that represented freedom and tenacity, Kyprin Engineering Corporation was a Corellian shipwright that specialized in civilian starship design. One of several recent Corellian Shipwrights to come up into the power vacuum left by Corellian Engineering Co.'s near-complete disappearance from the Galactic stage over the last half-decade, they operated in several Corellian systems utilizing small-scale shipyards and typically designed highly modular freighter designs. Where many shipwrights focused on securing military contracts with their huge and powerful capital ships, KEC was content with developing long-lasting civilian ships and bringing back older classic CEC designs.
RATIONALE
After the subjugation of Mandalore, MandalMotors, the original parent company of Daw Motors was essentially nationalized by the Sith Empire. In a rush to ensure the Sith Empire would be unable to make use of the full potential of MandalMotors, Zeke Farthen, before capture, "sold" off large amounts of stock, raw materials, and mobile manufacturing stations to Jecht Thrash, the Director of Daw Motors. With a large portion of MandalMotors' original infrastructure moved to Bothawui Jecht oversaw the move of both Daw Motors headquarters and the bulk of this new operation into Corellian space where he founded Kyprin Engineering Corporation. What wasn't said on paper however was that within the storage containers and vessels from Mandalore were thousands of Mandalorian refugees, many of which were employees of MandalMotors and its various subsidiaries, including Zeke Farthen himself. Jecht gave them jobs working in the new factories, naming the company after a Corellian symbol of freedom in solidarity with the plight of the Mandalorians.
