Kyber Failure Crystal

Intent: Getting a crystal to produce two lightsabers for @Undin Jaii Kryze
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: There is no manufacturer.
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Ilum's crystal caves.
Modularity: No
Production: Semi-Unique
Material: It is a material.

Strengths: If made a weapon with, it will be powerfull enough to break trough beskar
Weaknesses: If made a weapon with, it has a 50% chance of exploding when firstly used. It is highly unstable and needs to be replaced every 350 uses. (If used in a lightsaber it means activations , if used in a blaster it means shots).

Description: Firstly discovered by Youngling Tierros Hacknel during the era of the Old Republic, the Kyber Failure Crystals , were uncommon crystals that appeared like normal kyber crystals in the crystal caves of Ilum, but once taken out of the caves and gotten in contact with the atmosphere of Ilum they shapeshifted into oval and rainbow coloured stones. Tierros and her master, Jedi Master Kanreec Bramot impressed by the look of the crystal tried building a lightsaber using it as a normal kyber crystal. Sadly, the weapon exploded when Master Kanreec turned it on for the first time. The blast was so potent that it wiped out a Defender-class light corvette , killing Master Kanreec and Younling Tierros. After the incident the Jedi Grandmaster Satele Shan , banned these crystals from ever being used in lightsaber construction and that when a Jedi found one of these, they had to report it to the council immediately to be destructed by the Jedi Professor Larcoh.
A decade later, when Professor Larcoh was taking one of these crystals to be destroyed , he accidentally dropped it into a new lightsaber design that he was testing. Larcoh got curious so he hid the lightsaber which he then finished on his spare time. When he activated the lightsaber for the first time, a blade came to light. The shine the blade emitted was very intense and rainbow-like coloured , just like the crystal. He tested the blade on several materials, ranging from stone to beskar.
Larcoh wrote all about the lightsaber and the crystals on his secret lab diary. He left the lightsaber hidden inside a pot in his sleeping quarters in the Jedi Temple of Tython.
Years later , when Larcoh passed away , his grandson got his diary as part of his heritage. The grandson decided to publish the diary and he was taken and locked away tortured to death by Sith Acolyte Qinin , who was trying to discover more about these crystals. Larcoh's lightsaber has not been found to this day , since no one knew of it's existance except the professor himself.
Many years later , GrandMaster Yoda decided that instead of destroying the said crystals, they were to be stored in the safest room of the temple the Jedi that found the crystal was attending.

Anotation: Anyone that wants to build a lightsaber will need a dev thread.

Hi [member="Undin Jaii Kryze"], I will be reviewing this submission.

To begin, any new material created will require a development thread, especially if it is to be a lightsaber crystal with special properties.

  • Any material that is used to counteract an existing material on the restricted list will require a development thread as well.

Weaknesses: If made a weapon with, it has a 70% chance of exploding when firstly used. It is highly unstable and needs to be replaced every 200 uses.
  • If this crystal is semi-unique, and only a small handful of these are in existence, with a 70% chance of spontaneous self-detonation and a necessity to be replaced after 200 uses (I assume this means 200 activations of a lightsaber) this material would be entirely unstable and unsuitable for anything but decoration. Please rework this as it is not a viable or sensible weakness.

Description:
  • If you are planning to submit an entirely new class of crystals, I am going to ask that the description be vastly added upon. Three sentences is not going to pass for the discovery, research, understanding, utilization, and practical application of a crystal that is capable of what appears to be ignoring the effects of what is widely considered one of the strongest metals in the Star Wars universe.
As an absolute minimum I am going to ask for 100 quality posts of development for creating a new class of crystal, one that is capable of counteracting the strength of Beskar.

Furthermore, anyone who chooses to build a lightsaber with this material, for each lightsaber made they will need to perform a development thread. Please include this in the description somewhere as a notation.

I will be archiving this until the dev work is complete. Please PM [member="Spencer Varanin"], [member="Cira"], or an RPJ to have it removed from the archive.

Thanks.
