Vocoder - Broca's Area in the Brain is stimulated slightly, allowing for rudimentary speech/noises. These mostly gurgles and moans are transmitted through a vocoder.
Strengths:
Physical Strength - NW-09's are designed to mine spice and often end up wrenching large chunks out of the cavern walls. Their arms and hands retain significant strength.
Bulletproof - Being built mostly out of Duraflex, the KW-09 is essentially bulletproof
What Darkness? - Equipped with UV/IR lenses, the KW-09 can see with perfect clarity in the pitch black that they are restricted to work in
Weaknesses:
- Slow - Fast movement was barely considered in their design. They're lumbering, terrifying drones.
The Kessel Worker variant of the 09 series labour droids can rightly be considered a monstrosity. But an economically efficient one. To save on expenditure and instill fear in any SJW's, the "Draugr" Workers are a hefty body of Duraflex, headed by Skulls dug up from the surrounding grounds and powered by a Brain sourced from any semi-legal mortuaries around the galaxy.
The brain is resurrected and stimulated in the areas necessary for movement and basic thought. For further intimidation, the Broca's Area equivalent of any species' brain is stimulated (Albeit to a much lesser degree) to facilitate gurgling, moaning and rarely, basic speech that is all transmitted through a baritone, detuned vocoder.
With an organic brain as a core, the KW-09 clings to its past as a living being with the minimal thought it can manage. For this reason, they are kept separate from any other being and restricted to only working in the deepest caverns. Their desperation leads to violent and fatal attacks on living beings as they represent what they once were.
